The rubber hand illusion represents an illusory experience during the mislocalization of own hand when correlated visuotactile stimuli are presented to the actual and fake hands. The visuotactile integration process appears to cause this illusion; the corresponding brain activity was revealed in many studies. In this study, we investigated the effect of the rubber hand illusion on the crossmodal integration process by measuring EEG. The participants who experienced less intensive illusion showed greater congruency effect on reaction time (RT), greater power increase at the parietal zero electrode (Pz) and smaller interelectrode synchrony of the gamma band activity. On the other hand, the participants who experienced more intense illusion showed greater interelectrode synchrony. The results suggested that the gamma band activity in the parietal area reflects the visuotactile integration process and that its synchrony causes the illusory intensity.  相似文献

This essay develops standards for grading religions including various forms of spiritualism. First, I examine the standards proposed by William James, John Hick, Paul Knitter, Dan Cohn-Sherbok, and Harold Netland. Most of them are useful in grading religions with or without conditions. However, those standards are not enough for refined and piercing evaluation. Thus, I introduce standards used in spiritualism. Although those standards are for grading spirits and their teachings, they are useful in refined and piercing evaluation of religious phenomena. The spiritual standards complement James’s, Hick’s, Knitter’s, and Netland’s standards. Although most of the spiritual standards are rationally unjustifiable, they have practical value.  相似文献

Inhibition of return using location discrimination in two age groups   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The present study investigated "inhibition of return" which refers to increased response latency when the target in a location discrimination task appears in the same location on consecutive trials. Research to date has suggested that this effect is little changed across age. However, this study, which compared 12 older adults in good health (M=73.0, SD=5.3) with younger adults using the target-target paradigm to examine inhibition of return, suggests there is a strong and continuous effect in older adults in comparison to younger adults. Results indicate the possibility that the inhibitory function may become stronger at an older age.  相似文献

Amnesia is the main phenomenon in dissociative experiences. The present study investigated whether amnesia in participants with frequent dissociative experiences depended on state-dependent memory. Undergraduates scoring high (n=32) or low (n=32) on the Dissociative Experiences Scale Version-II (DES-II) participated in this experiment. Mood induction and a remember/know task were used in a typical mood-independent memory design. In the inconsistent mood state condition, participants in the high DES group showed decreased memory performance compared to the low DES group. These results were attributed to the recollection components of recognition and not to the familiarity component. Therefore we concluded that the normal population with highly frequent dissociative experiences showed strong state-dependent memory and had a memory bias in the recollection component of memory.  相似文献

Long-term potentiation (LTP) of the gustatory cortex (GC), a part of the insular cortex (IC) around the middle cerebral artery, is a key process of gustatory learning and memory, including conditioned taste aversion learning. The rostral (rGC) and caudal GC (cGC) process different tastes; the rGC responds to hedonic and the cGC responds to aversive tastes. However, plastic changes of spatial interaction of excitatory propagation between the rGC and cGC remain unknown. The present study aimed to elucidate spatiotemporal profiles of excitatory propagation, induced by electrical stimulation (five train pulses) of the rGC/cGC before and after LTP induction, using in vivo optical imaging with a voltage-sensitive dye. We demonstrated that tetanic stimulation of the cGC induced long-lasting expansion of the excitation responding to five train stimulation of the cGC, and an increase in amplitude of optical signals in the IC. Excitatory propagation after LTP induction spread preferentially toward the rostral IC: the length constant (λ) of excitation, obtained by fitting optical signals with a monoexponential curve, was increased to 121.9% in the rostral direction, whereas λ for the caudal, dorsal, and ventral directions were 48.9%, 44.2%, and 62.5%, respectively. LTP induction was prevented by pre-application of D-APV, an NMDA receptor antagonist, or atropine, a muscarinic receptor antagonist, to the cortical surface. In contrast, rGC stimulation induced only slight LTP without direction preference. Considering the different roles of the rGC and cGC in gustatory processing, these characteristic patterns of LTP in the GC may be involved in a mechanism underlying conversion of palatability.  相似文献
