Inappropriate behaviors often occur in non-classroom settings, such as lunchrooms, due to the increased volume of students with fewer supervising adults. As such, there is a need for effective and efficient behavior management interventions that can be implemented in these environments. To address frequent disruptions in an urban elementary lunchroom, McCurdy et al. (J Sch Psychol 47:39–54, 2009) developed a team-based interdependent group contingency called the Lunchroom Behavior Game (LBG) and observed decreased disruptions, while staff and students found the intervention highly acceptable. Given this success, we replicated the LBG in an elementary school in a mid-sized Southeastern city. LBG implementation was staggered across three lunch periods using a multiple-baseline design across subjects. The rate of disruptive behaviors decreased in all lunches following LBG implementation and remained at lower levels during maintenance observations; however, implementation fidelity and student acceptability were low. Specific implementation issues encountered and recommendations for future research are discussed.

Focusing on two essays in John Milbank's The Word Made Strange , Lash argues that Milbank's claim that, for Aquinas, 'the domain of metaphysics is not simply subordinate to, but completely evacuated by theology' is unwarranted. First, Milbank's notion of metaphysics often lacks historical specificity. Second, Lash defends recent studies of Aquinas on analogy against Milbank's critique, and questions his construal of ens commune . Concluding sections challenge Milbank's reading of the Prologue to Aquinas's commentary on Aristotle's Metaphysics , suggesting a more nuanced reading of the relations between philosophy (and, by implication, the whole sweep of the physical, moral and social sciences) and 'holy teaching'.  相似文献

The question of whether our conscious experience is rich or sparse remains an enduring controversy in philosophy. The “overflow” account argues that perceptual consciousness is far richer than cognitive access: when perceiving a complex scene, subjects see more than they can report. This paper draws on aphantasia (the condition of absent voluntary imagery) to propose a new argument in favor of overflow. First, it shows that opponents of overflow explain subjects’ performance in a change detection paradigm by appealing to a type of “internal imagery.” Second, it provides empirical evidence to demonstrate that aphantasics are incapable of generating this imagery. However, aphantasics perform equally well in this task; and so the no-overflow account fails to explain their performance. This means that proponents of this view are committed to an unsupported view of perception.  相似文献
