It is increasingly apparent that “something more” than interpretation is needed to bring about change in psychoanalytic treatment. Drawing on clinical and developmental observations, we propose that interactional processes from birth onward give rise to a form of procedural knowledge regarding how to do things with intimate others, knowledge we call implicit relational knowing. This knowing is distinct from conscious verbalizable knowledge and from the dynamic unconscious. The implicit relational knowing of patient and therapist intersect to create an intersubjective field that includes reasonably accurate sensings of each person's ways of being with others, sensings we call the “real relationship.” This intersubjective field becomes more complex and articulated with repeated patient–therapist encounters, giving rise to emergent new possibilities for more coherent and adaptive forms of interaction. During a transactional event that we term a “moment of meeting,” a new dyadic possibility crystallizes when the two persons achieve the dual goals of complementary fitted actions and joint intersubjective recognition in a new form. We argue that such moments of meeting shift the relational anticipations of each partner and allow for new forms of agency and shared experience to be expressed and elaborated. © 1998 Michigan Association for Infant Mental Health  相似文献

We sought to understand the experiences of parents who participated in Group Well-Child Care (GWCC) and Trauma-Informed GWCC (TI-GWCC). Three focus groups and design sessions with parents from either standard GWCC or TI-GWCC (N = 17) were conducted and synthesized into common themes using thematic analysis. Focus group themes included: (1) GWCC can empower parents to recognize toxic stress; (2) Parents identify ways that they role model behaviors for their child(ren); (3) Activities that facilitate reflection on attachment and anger management encourage intentional parenting practices. Our qualitative findings suggest that TI-GWCC supports the prevention of childhood adversity by creating connections between parents, helping families understand and identify toxic stress, and teaching parenting practices that mitigate stressors.  相似文献

This article contains reflections on my last conversation with Peter Lomas. As a consequence of this interchange, I consider Peter's inheritance of Sandor Ferenczi's therapeutic legacy. Some critics of the work of both practitioners insinuated that their ideas and practice amounted to a form of ‘wild analysis’: I examine this mistaken attribution and argue that the creativity inherent in their therapeutic ideas and practice was wrongly perceived as ‘wild analysis’. I consider Peter's misgivings in relation to Winnicott's ideas about regression in therapy, predicated on idealisation of the mother–baby relationship and entailing undue idealisation of the therapist–patient relationship without due attention being paid to the role of the father. I muse upon Peter's love of football, seeing it as a metaphor for the practice of psychotherapy.  相似文献

This article reviews the prevalence of trauma, substance use disorders, and their co‐occurrence in both clinical and community populations.
