Judgments of unfamiliar objects are likely to take the psychological form of a range rather than a precise point estimate as is commonly assumed in consumer research. A range model of attitude judgments is formulated to investigate attitude shifts after exposure to a persuasive message. In Study 1, the message was not only shown to affect consumers’ point‐estimate judgments but also their range judgments about the attribute targeted by the information. A message consistent with the consumer's pretrial attitude caused the range to narrow, and a message that was inconsistent with the consumer's pretrial attitude caused the range to widen asymmetrically in the direction of the message. In Study 2, judgment ranges were shown to have psychological validity in that a model based on whether the believed and desired judgment ranges overlap predicted purchase intention better than the conventional model that is based on differences in point estimates. 相似文献

We describe the structure for implementation of the wraparound process within a multi-tiered system of school wide positive
behavior support (SWPBS) to address the needs of the 1–5% of students with complex emotional/behavioral challenges. The installation
of prerequisite system features that, based on a 3 year demonstration process, we consider critical to full operation of the
Tier 3 wraparound intervention within a system of SWPBS is also described. We include examples of system implementation benchmarks
that occur concurrently with student outcome data and are logically linked to full operation and sustainability of wraparound
implementation. Challenges surrounding implementation and proposed advancements are also discussed. 相似文献

Using featural cues such as colour to identify ephemeral food can increase foraging efficiency. Featural cues may change over
time however; therefore, animals should use spatial cues to relocate food that occurs in a temporally stable position. We
tested this hypothesis by measuring the cue preferences of captive greenfinches Carduelis chloris when relocating food hidden in a foraging tray. In these standardised associative learning trials, greenfinches favoured
colour cues when returning to a foraging context that they had encountered before only once (“one-trial test”) but switched
to spatial cues when they had encountered that scenario on ten previous occasions (“repeated-trial test”). We suggest that
repeated encounters generated a context in which individuals had a prior expectation of temporal stability, and hence context-dependent
cue selection. Next, we trained birds to find food in the absence of colour cues but tested them in the presence of visual
distracters. Birds were able to learn spatial cues after one encounter, but only when visual distracters were identical in
colouration. When a colourful distracter was present in the test phase, cue selection was random. Unlike the first one-trial
test, birds were not biased towards this colourful visual distracter. Together, these results suggest that greenfinches are able to learn both cue types, colour
cue biases represent learning, not simply distraction, and spatial cues are favoured over colour cues only in temporally stable

A field experiment by Australian public health researchers Norman, Kelly, McMahon, and others allegedly demonstrated that primary school children's physical health is threatened by exposure to “junk food” advertising. Their study was published in the international health journal Appetite and was clearly intended to influence government regulatory policy. The methodology of the study was taken, without acknowledgement, from an earlier American study in the Journal of Consumer Research and much other research on children's consumer behavior, including pioneering studies conducted by the present author? was ignored. Also, quite unforgivably, the researchers neglected to cite Australia's already strict regulatory controls on and guidelines for advertising directed to children. The present author sent a rejoinder to Appetite pointing out the many problems with Norman et al.'s research and recommending that their article be withdrawn, but the editor insisted I revise it to remove almost all the criticisms, which I naturally refused to do. Instead, by publishing this article in JCB, the present author is hoping to make consumer researchers aware of the sort of poorly performed and ideologically influenced research relating to marketing and consumer behavior that is appearing in the health journals. The present article also contributes more generally by exposing problems that must be avoided in experimental research on consumer behavior. 相似文献

Immigrant youth come to Canada with enormous potential to make a significant, positive contribution to the future of their adopted country. In many cases, this potential is realised; in others, it is not. The ease with which immigrant youth and their families integrate into Canadian society has a strong impact on their futures; those who become marginalised during this process risk becoming alienated or involved with the criminal justice system. Interviews were conducted with 12 stakeholders (including representatives from social service agencies, community groups and the criminal justice and forensic mental health systems) who frequently come into contact with immigrant and refugee youth involved in criminal and/or gang activity. Based on the family, individual, peer, school and community risk and protective factors reported to have an influence on immigrant and refugee youth, recommendations are made for bridging gaps in programming and policy initiatives to support at-risk youth. 相似文献

Social classes' ‘way we live’ values remain a major influence on consumers' retail store choices, their brand choices for major durables, and their use of health services and pharmaceutical products. Social class, however, has been neglected in modern theories and research in consumer behavior, probably because of the difficulty of implementing a proper sociological measure of social class distinctions coupled with the realization that convenient sociodemographic measures of social class are not a valid substitute for the sociological measure. A new 34‐item values‐based measure of social class is presented in this article, called the Social Class Values Index (SCVI). The SCVI efficiently distinguishes the six traditional social‐class strata that are based on attributed social prestige and contributes to the first known measure of the non–prestige‐based, largely self‐actualized ‘X’ class. The aim of this investigation was to test the hypothesis that early developing adolescent girls have a less favorable attitude towards school than late developers. The Ss were 104 grammar school girls of mean age 14 years 1 month. All Ss were given Fitt's test of attitude towards school. Twenty-two pairs of early and late developers, matched for chronological age, IQ, and social class, were compared with regard to their mean attitude score and their responses to individual items of the attitude scale. The early developers were found to have a significantly less favorable mean attitude score. There was also a tendency for more early developers to endorse unfavorable items and for more late developers to endorse favorable items. 相似文献

Although the concept of a system of care for children and adolescents with a severe emotional disturbance has become core to treatment philosophy, very little research has focused on systems of care as systems. This article attempts to contribute to the development of a systems research paradigm in children's mental health as well as to add to the substantive knowledge of utilization of and movement between residential options in a statewide multiagency service delivery system. Information on residential placement gathered at six month intervals over a three year period is used to develop a mathematical model of the system of care. This model can help administrators to predict future needs for residential care, and to project probable outcomes of alternative strategies for meeting the needs of these children and adolescents. 相似文献
