A total of 100 African American undergraduate students were given the Sexual Experiences Questionnaire (SEQ) (Fitzgerald et al., 1988) and an open-ended question assessing experiences of sexual harassment. Results showed a significant frequency of sexual imposition (19%), particularly sexual touching. Participants also clearly delineated a new category of sexual harassment previously untapped by largely Caucasian studies: comments or sexual attention based solely on racial stereotypes or racially based physical features. In conclusion, the reported differences with regard to experiences and definitions of sexual harassment indicate that previous assumptions of homogeneity of experience (with Caucasian women being the standard) appear to be incorrect. 相似文献

Positive affect has been neglected in evaluation of group treatment efficacy. This pilot study for individuals with heart failure illustrates the contribution of positive affect to change processes. Assessment of positive affect pre- and post-group intervention can yield a better understanding of individuals' adjustment to heart failure, and provide additional information for selection of specific treatments for each individual. In an era characterized by standardized measures of outcome, inclusion of positive affect provides additional opportunity to document contributions in improving health related quality of life (psychosocial and physical functioning) of clients with heart failure. 相似文献

The present study replicated the investigations of Lemaire, Abdi, and Fayol with some modifications: the random time interval
generation (RIG) task was used and the stimuli were created in another way. The results provide additional evidence for the
crucial role of the central executive in the speed of solving both true and false sums and for the role of the phonological
loop in solving false sums. However, the findings concerning the role of this slave system in solving true sums were different.
Possible explanations and limitations of these results are discussed.

The article reviews the critical legal, ethical, and clinical issues that counselors should consider when responding to these referral requests. The present paper describes the computer aspects of a reaction time experiment with couples. The hardware consists of two computers connected through a local area network. Issues that deal with the first PC include timing routines, screen control, mice data decoding, and synchronization of computer software—written in Assembler for a PC without hard disk—with information presented in a videotape. The second computer was used for data processing that was written in VBA. Although the system was created for a dedicated purpose, it is easily applicable to other environments. 相似文献

Modern Christian anthropology frequently adopts from socio-cultural theory the thesis that modern selfhood is fragmented. This 'fragmentation thesis' should be placed within a framework which sees modernity not as homogeneous but as stranded. Four conflicting construals of modern selfhood can be discerned: the bestowed self, the rational self, the boundless self and the effective self. In promoting versions of the bestowed self through communitarian and Trinitarian ideas, contemporary theological anthropology often fails to meet the challenges posed by other construals of selfhood, or to take seriously lessons learnt from contemporary forms of Christianity like the evangelical–charismatic upsurge. 相似文献

Roderick Smith 《Journal of School Psychology》1988,26(4):341-357The validity of a test battery, organized by a theoretical framework of levels of language processing and production, was evaluated at the end of kindergarten and theend of first grade. At the end of kindergarten two levels of oral language, phonemic and lexical, and at the end of first grade three levels of oral language, phonemic, lexical, and text, were correlated with word decoding and reading comprehension. At the end of first grade, the combination of phonemic and lexical skills accounted for more variance in both word decoding and reading comprehension than either phonemic or lexical skills alone. The strength of the relationship between specific levels of oral language and specific component reading skills changed after formal reading instruction was introduced. Functional relationships were found between improvement in phonemic skills or lexical skills and improvement in word decoding. Partial correlations between two levels of oral language with a third partialed out (receptive or expressive task requirements held constant) provided evidence for three semiindependent levels of oral language—phonemic, lexical, and text. Because the battery has concurrent and construct validity, school psychologists can use it to monitor beginning readers in order to prevent reading disabilities due to subtle language dysfunctions. 相似文献

Male and female undergraduates who differed in degree of self-monitoring interviewed same-sex strangers to test the hypothesis that interviewer self-monitoring propensities foster self-disclosure only in disclosure-conducive contexts (i.e., collaborative contexts for men and social-expressive contexts for women). Results indicated that high self-monitoring (but not low self-monitoring) interviewers of each gender were notably more successful at eliciting personal information in the contexts generally considered amenable to male and female self-disclosure than in disclosure-nonconducive contexts. Moreover, male high self-monitoring interviewers reliably elicited more information than their low self-monitoring counterparts only in the disclosure- conducive (for men) collaborative context. However, high self-monitoring female interviewers did not elicit more information than their dispositional counterparts in disclosure-conducive, social-expressive contexts, although they reliably induced less disclosure than low self-monitors in the disclosure-nonconducive (for women) collaborative context. 相似文献
