A comparison of the test-retest and internal consistency estimates of reliability coefficients is given, and it is shown that the two methods give different results. Application of the analysis of variance and covariance method reveals that there is not just one but a number of reliability coefficients involved, and that an estimate of each of these may be obtained. The analysis shows that in using the test-retest method the error or remainder effects are not independent on the two trials, possibly because the individuals remember the items and their responses to them on the previous trial. 相似文献

This study investigated whether differences in child care arrangements and mothers' attitudes about leaving their child in nonmaternal care were associated with maternal psychological well-being and perceptions of children in a sample of single, employed, low-income, Black mothers who were former welfare recipients. Feelings of discomfort with regard to nonmaternal care were associated with higher levels of maternal depressive symptomatology, which, in turn, predicted more negative perceptions of children. Preference for employment and increased working hours were associated with greater life satisfaction. Maternal education and the gender of the child were important moderating variables. Type of child care arrangement was nonsignificant. Policy implications are discussed. 相似文献

It is estimated that between 30% and 50% of children diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) will continue to exhibit symptomatology that is disruptive throughout their adult lives. Identification and diagnosis of adult ADHD, as well as primary and secondary characteristics and comorbid disorders, are discussed in this article. Counseling strategies are suggested to help clinicians treat adults with ADHD, such as educating the client about the disorder and providing training in attention management techniques, self-management skills, interpersonal and social skills, stress and time management, anger management, and problem-solving skills. Clinicians are encouraged to prepare themselves for understanding, identifying, diagnosing, and treating the adult population with ADHD. 相似文献

Interference with shuttle-box escape learning following exposure to inescapable shock is often difficult to obtain in rats. The first experiment investigated the role of shock intensity during escape training in the apparent fragility of the effect. Experiment 1A demonstrated that the magnitude of the interference effect was systematically related to shock intensity during shuttle-box testing. At .6 mA, a robust effect was obtained, whereas at .8 mA and 1.0, little or no deficit in the escape performance of inescapably shocked rats was observed. Experiment 1B demonstrated that the deficit observed in Experiment 1A depended upon whether or not rats could control shock offset. Experiment 2 suggested that preshock may suppress activity and that higher shock levels may overcome this deficit. Experiment 3 tested this as the sole cause of the escape deficit by requiring an escape response which exceeded the level of activity readily elicited by a 1.0-mA shock in both restrained and preshocked rats. In such a task, preshocked rats performed more poorly than did restrained controls. These results are consistent with the possibility that inescapable shock may, in addition to reducing activity, produce an associative deficit. Experiment 4 more clearly demonstrated that inescapable shock produces deficits in performance which cannot be expleined by activity deficits and which appear to be associative in nature. It was shown that inescapable shock interfered with the acquisition of signaled punishment suppression but not CER suppression. The theoretical implications of these data for explanations of the manner in which prior exposure to inescapable shock interferes with escape learning were discussed. 相似文献

Subjects were required to perform discrete finger movements in accordance with a pre-arranged sequence of instructions. In all cases, any movement made by any finger was recorded by means of a constant-speed kymograph equipped with levers designed to record separately the movements of the individual fingers. This experiment was carried out under three conditions: (a) with no vision of the hand; (b) with direct vision of the hand; and (c) with the hand presented in mirror-image. It was found that, whereas deprivation of visual control was without effect on the efficiency of finger movements, presentation of the hand in mirror-image gave rise to significant increases in reaction time of three fingers and to an increase in the percentages of prior and substitute movements of other digits. Phenomena akin to depersonalisation were reported in some cases. It was also found that the rank order of mean reaction times of the five digits was approximately constant under all conditions and that the two fingers with the shortest reaction times were preceded by the fewest movements of other digits. These two digits were also the most frequently moved in advance when movements of other digits were requested and it is suggested that they have a certain “signpost function” in guiding identification of the remaining fingers. Pupils were measured while observers made pitch judgments under the method of constant stimuli. A substantial dilation occurs immediately after the presentation of the comparison tone, and the size of this response is closely correlated to the difficulty of the discrimination. Baseline changes occur within each block of trials, but have little effect on the magnitude of dilations. Responses to redundant stimuli, including the standard itself, decrease during the experimental session. Empirical evaluations suggest that problem orientation, the initial reaction to problems, differentiates suicidal youth from nonchnical controls and nonideating psychiatric controls. One promising area for intervention with suicidal youth relates to enhancing this specific coping skill. Nonclinical participants (N = 110) with active suicidal ideation were randomly assigned to receive a brief problem-orientation intervention or a control procedure. The current study evaluated the benefits of a brief prevention intervention based on the Problem-Solving Therapy model. Exposure to a brief video intervention regarding problem solving and coping skills was sufficient to elicit significant decreases in suicidal ideation and depression, but the intervention did not elicit improvements in problem orientation or other problem-solving abilities. These findings provide preliminary support for a brief, video-based problem-solving and coping skills module. However, considerable work in developing secondary prevention interventions remains. 相似文献
