Finding a Language for Faith: Liturgy and Worship

The sacramental and liturgical texts in The Annotated Luther series (volumes 1 and 3) reflect Luther's ongoing concern for the faith life of the people. They also give us an insight into Luther's own struggle to find words (and, of course, practices) that reflect the fundamental insight of the Reformation: justification by faith alone. Luther refused to abandon ritual or a strict liturgical order even though it can so easily become, in the minds and hearts of believers, a work they must do. The freedom of the gospel does not dispense us from a liturgical order or from participation; in fact, for Luther, that freedom compels us to worship! This tension can be found within these writings as Luther searches for new words and redefines and/or reorients other words to express a spirituality of justification.     

Dokumentation ambulanter Diagnostik in psychosomatischer Medizin und Psychotherapie

Zusammenfassung Das vorgestellte Dokumentationssystem vereint in sich die folgenden Anforderungen: Die zeitökonomische Abbildung der aktuellen Befunde, die Visualisierung der Biographie bzw. Lerngeschichte, die strukturierte Erfassung der Operationalisierten Psychodynamischen Diagnostik (OPD), die psychische und somatische Diagnostik einschließlich Rating des Beeinträchtigungsschwere-Score (BSS) und der Global Assessment of Functioning Scale (GAF) sowie die psychotherapeutisch-psychiatrischen Vorbefunde und die abschließende Indikationsstellung. Lediglich der Arztbrief, der beispielhaft dargestellt wird, wird diktiert. Eine so strukturierte Dokumentation ist patientennah, zeitökonomisch und bewährt sich an den Schnittstellen einer ambulant-stationär-ambulanten Behandlungskette. Sie ist eine ideale Basis für ein Qualitätsmanagement sowie Evaluation in der niedergelassenen Praxis, Ambulanz sowie im Konsiliardienst.      

Hierarchical diffusion models for two-choice response times

Two-choice response times are a common type of data, and much research has been devoted to the development of process models for such data. However, the practical application of these models is notoriously complicated, and flexible methods are largely nonexistent. We combine a popular model for choice response times-the Wiener diffusion process-with techniques from psychometrics in order to construct a hierarchical diffusion model. Chief among these techniques is the application of random effects, with which we allow for unexplained variability among participants, items, or other experimental units. These techniques lead to a modeling framework that is highly flexible and easy to work with. Among the many novel models this statistical framework provides are a multilevel diffusion model, regression diffusion models, and a large family of explanatory diffusion models. We provide examples and the necessary computer code.
