This teaching case illustrates the innovative application of an instructional technology modality, the WebQuest, in family
therapy training. It describes what a WebQuest involves, and how it can be used as a tool for developing critical thinking
and application of contemporary marriage and family therapy (MFT) theory to social and global issues. The authors discuss
the results of the survey and focus groups conducted to assess the value of this assignment from the students’ perspectives.
Results indicate that its application in a family therapy theories course fostered students’ awareness of global issues impacting
family life, integration of family therapy theories to serve children and families, creativity in developing their own intervention

This study investigated; the behavioral adjustment and academic status of children with HIV infection through serial evaluations
over a ten-year period. The parents of children were assessed with Achenbach Child Behavior Checklist Parent Forms and the
children were administered the Woodcock-Johnson Tests of Academic Achievement at regular intervals as part of their treatment
in the HIV Program of a children’s hospital. Children with HIV were found to have behavioral adjustment within normal limits
over time. Aggressive behavior was noted to decrease over time. Academic achievement mirrored IQ status, unlike other studies,
which have reported poorer achievement than expected for IQ. Math skills appeared to improve over time. Thus, these findings
suggest children with HIV infection did not show significant behavioral disturbance across time, however, aggressive behavior

We used a national database (Educational Longitudinal Study) to investigate the effects of parent’s gender, child’s gender,
and parental involvement in school on the academic achievement of adolescents in single-parent families. A three way 2 × 2 × 2
(parent’s gender × child’s gender × parental involvement) MANCOVA was conducted with four student academic achievement indicators
as dependent variables and SES as a covariate. The results indicated that parent gender and child gender interact with parent
involvement to affect adolescents’ academic achievement differentially. Specifically, daughters who lived with highly involved
single-fathers performed better academically than the other groups did. These findings suggest that researchers who study
single-parents’ involvement in their adolescents’ academic achievement need to pay more attention to gender-specific effects. 相似文献

This study aims to bring to light the relationship between internal/external resources and counselors’ burnout depending on the type of clients (traumatized/bereaved vs. personal growth issues). Moderated mediation analysis was conducted with 165 counselors in South Korea. The results indicated that counselors of traumatized or bereaved clients were more likely to be affected by internal resources (countertransference management ability), whereas counselors of clients with personal growth issues were more likely to be affected by external resources (environmental resources). This study takes a person-centered approach to enhance our understanding of job search and intentions to leave among currently employed individuals. Four categories of seekers and stayers in the organization were identified based on their unique patterns of turnover intentions, behaviors, and reasons: Embedded Stayers, Detached Stayers, Dissatisfied Seekers, and Script-Driven Seekers. We theorize that these prototypes are conceptually differentiated by two dimensions—the direction of action and the concreteness of plans. We also found meaningful associations between the probability of cluster membership and a variety of individual difference variables such as job satisfaction, motivational forces, and personality dispositions. Findings from the present study provide some useful insights for theory building and future empirical studies on individual differences in whether and why people intend to leave or stay in their jobs. 相似文献

The belief that happiness is fragile—that it is fleeting and may easily turn into less favourable states—is common across individuals and cultures. However, not much is known about this belief domain and its structure and correlates. In the present study, we use multigroup confirmatory factor analysis and multilevel modelling to investigate the measurement invariance, cross-level isomorphism, predictive validity, and nomological network of the fragility of happiness scale across 15 nations. The results show that this scale has good statistical properties at both individual and cultural levels, and is associated with relevant psycho-social concepts in expected directions. The importance of the results, limitations, and potential directions for future research are discussed. 相似文献
