Four participants constructed face composites, of familiar and unfamiliar targets, using Pro-Fit, with reference images present or from memory. The "mean" of all 4 composites, created by morphing (4-morph) was rated as a better likeness than individual composites on average and was as good as the best individual likeness. When participants attempted to identify targets from line-ups, 4-morphs again performed as well as the best individual composite. In a second experiment, participants familiar with target women attempted to identify composites, and the trend showed better recognition from multiple composites, whether combined or shown together. In a line-up task with unfamiliar participants, 4-morphs produced most correct choices and fewest false positives from target-absent or target-present arrays. These results have practical implications for the way evidence from different witnesses is used in police investigations. 相似文献

The authors proposed a model of antiunion attitudes and prounion attitudes as predictors of American college students' willingness to join a union (N = 1,245). Structural equation modeling results indicated that antiunion and prounion attitudes are moderately related and both show similar strength in predicting willingness to join. In addition, a general antiunion factor is shown to underlie specific antiunion attitudes, whereas items related to prounion attitudes are shown to reflect a general prounion factor. The utility of the model was supported based on initial and cross-validation samples (ns = 623 and 622, respectively). The relationship between severe early institutional deprivation and scholastic attainment at age 11 in 127 children (68 girls
and 59 boys) adopted from institutions in Romania was compared to the attainment of 49 children (17 girls and 32 boys) adopted
within the UK from a non-institutional background. Overall, children adopted from Romania had significantly lower attainment
scores than those adopted within the UK; the children within the Romanian sample who had spent 6 months or more in an institution
had significantly lower attainment scores than those who had spent less than 6 months in an institution, but there was no
additional risk of low attainment associated with longer institutional care after 6 months. The lower scholastic attainment
in the children adopted from Romanian institutions, as compared with domestic adoptees, was mediated by IQ, and to a lesser
degree, inattention/overactivity. When these factors were taken into account, only small between-group differences in attainment

The relationships between social axioms, general beliefs that people hold about the social world, and values, defined as desirable goals for life, were examined in five cultural groups. Results show that the correlations between social axioms and Schwartz's (1992) values are generally low, suggesting that they represent two distinct types of construct. Based on a structural equation modelling approach, results further show that generally speaking, the five axiom dimensions are related to the value types in a meaningful and interpretable manner, and that these relationships are generally similar across the five cultural groups. To investigate dropout from parenting programs for disruptive behavior disorders, we followed 18 clients prospectively from
the beginning of a manualized treatment program to three month follow-up. Using qualitative and quantitative methods, we then
compared those who dropped out of the program with those who completed it. We found that in general, those participants who
dropped out of the program were parents of children with more disturbed behavior, who perceived their children to be more
difficult than others, and who experienced more subjective parenting stress. Those who dropped out were also not convinced
that the strategies proposed in the program to help manage their children were useful. On the other hand, those who completed
the program reported a determination to persevere with the strategies which they saw as assisting them to re-establish positive
relationships with their adolescent children. The findings are discussed in the context of how manualized programs might be

Many people who support a person with depression report struggling with the carer role and being dissatisfied with the inclusivity and lack of support provided by clinicians. However, little is known about what influences the support provided to Australian carers of people with depression. To investigate this, 119 Australian mental health workers completed a self‐report questionnaire to gather information on their attitudes towards, barriers experienced and current clinical practices when working with carers of people with depression. Participants' attitudes towards family members and carers were generally positive. Reported inclusive clinical practices varied. Participants identified a number of barriers to inclusive practice that were predominantly organisational in nature. Participants who perceived more barriers reported providing more clinical interventions. Attitudes and barriers were associated with the inclusive clinical practice of participants who worked with mental health consumers, but not participants who worked with family members and carers. Even among this sample of self‐selecting clinicians, there was room for significant improvement in rates of carer inclusive practice. Further research should explore not only what inhibits but also what enables the participation of family members and carers in the care and treatment process for people with depression. 相似文献
