Israel (1978) evaluated and discussed research on positive and negative verbal-nonverbal correspondence. In the present report we attempt to delineate the relationship of correspondence training to two major intervention goals-producing (increasing) behavior and inhibiting (decreasing) behavior. The concepts of noncorrespondence and generalized positive correspondence are introduced. Past research relating to the correspondence analyses offered for the two intervention outcomes and possibilities for future research are discussed. The relationship of verbal correspondence training to the issues of response maintenance and response generalization is also examined.  相似文献

One-day-old rats learned aversions to a novel taste paired with lithium-induced distress and to a tactile stimulus paired with brief electric shocks. However, aversions did not develop when taste was paired with shock or when the tactile stimulus was paired with lithium treatment. The aversions occurred only when lithium treatment immediately followed taste exposure and when shock was concurrent with exposure to the tactile stimulus. These findings indicate that selective associations in aversion learning are mediated by innate mechanisms that govern conditioning in the absence of extensive ontogenetic experience. The present research also shows that selective associations are sufficient for the occurrence of long-delay learning.  相似文献

Designed to measure differences in employment issues between a selected native Canadian Indian group and a non-native comparison group in Toronto, the study demonstrated that given similar circumstances for comparison, Native Canadians are less formally educated and skill trained than are non-natives of comparable age, sex, and education. Respondents under the age of 25 and over 50 earned substantially less than respondents within that age range.  相似文献

This research examined gender differences in orientations toward autonomous and social achievement. Three independent samples of subjects (total N= 359 males and 574 females) completed measures of achievement orientation (including Strumpfer's [1975] Autonomous Achievement Values and Social Achievement Values scales) and relevant cognitive, affective, and behavioral variables. Correlational and factor analyses clearly identified distinct autonomous and social achievement factors for both men and women in each of the samples. Examination of the correlates of achievement orientation indicated that whereas an autonomous achievement orientation is similarly expressed in males and females, there are considerable sex differences in the expression of an orientation toward social achievement. In particular, a social achievement orientation was associated with concerns over social approval and responsiveness to social influence among males, but was generally unrelated to these factors among females. Findings are discussed in terms of several recent hypotheses concerning the effects of sex role norms on the development and expression of achievement needs in men and women.  相似文献

This paper examines the relationship between response impulse and timing error in 200 msec discrete timing responses over a range of movement velocities and system masses. The results from two experiments showed that variable timing error decreased as both movement velocity and the mass of the system to be moved increased. The variability of force proportional to force (measured either as impulse or peak force) decreased curvilinearly as force out-put increased. The correlations between each of these parameters and variable timing errors, calculated on a group mean basis, ranged between.91 and.95. The ability to predict the movement time outcome of each individual trial from impulse-related parameters was considerably reduced, although the relationship between the various kinematic and kinetic parameters did strengthen as the movement velocity approached maximum. Collectively, the findings show the size of impulse is related to movement timing error, although it is premature argue that impulse variability is a causal agent of timing error.  相似文献

A series of three experiments was undertaken to determine the role of prior knowledge of different movement cues in the preselection effect. Experiments 1 and 2 examined the singular and combinative role of location and extent cues under both preselected and constrained conditions. The third experiment provided a framework for evaluating the sources of informations which may contribute to the preselection phenomenon. In experiments 1 an 2, the results suggest the advantage of preseleted over constrained movement was constant across movement cues. The second experiment demonstrated that the dual cue condition was superior to location alone and extent alone in both accuracy and consistency. Finally, the third experiment indicated that prior knowledge (strategy) was the primary variable responsible for the preselection effect.  相似文献

Investigated age and sex differences on the Hand Test across the life span, while statistically partialing-out the effects of educational level and verbal ability. Subjects were 150 individuals (75 males, 75 females) ranging in age from 20 to 86 years, assigned to one of three age groups on the basis of their chronological age. Participants were administered the Hand Test and the WAIS vocabulary subtest; in addition, years of formal education completed for each subject was obtained. Results indicated that even after statistically adjusting for the effects of education and verbal ability, a number of significant Age. Sex, Age and Sex, as well as Age x Sex interactions were obtained on the Hand Test. It was suggested that, as previous criticisms of projective research with the aged are met, a residue of important personality trends persists.  相似文献

The possibility of isolating personality types using 16 PF profiles was studied by utilizing a Q-type factor analytic procedure. Four modal profiles, characteristic of major clusters of subjects, were derived and cross validated. These four major types successfully classified approximately 2/3 of the 16 PF protocols (n = 1037), and classified similar proportions of previously published profiles. Variation of classification rates as a function of race and sex was described, and strategies for utilizing the profiles for research and interpretive purposes were outlined.  相似文献
