Psychometric properties of the Multidimensional Anxiety Scale for Children (MASC) among Icelandic schoolchildren 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
A psychometric assessment of the Icelandic version of the Multidimensional Anxiety Scale for Children (MASC) was undertaken among Icelandic schoolchildren, between 10 and 15 years of age. In a first study 625 children between 10 and 15 years of age filled in the MASC. A confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the four-factor structure of the instrument was justified. Further, means and standard deviations of the total scale and the subscales were similar to the original normative data reported by March (1997). In a second study the MASC, the Children Depression Inventory (CDI) and the Revised Children's Manifest Anxiety Scale (RCMAS) were administered to a sample of 249 schoolchildren between 10 and 15 years of age. The results supported the convergent and divergent validity of the MASC. Together the two studies show satisfactory psychometric properties of the Icelandic version of the MASC in a normal population. 相似文献

Any position that promises genuine progress on the mind-body
problem deserves attention. Recently, Daniel Stoljar has identified a physicalist
version of Russells notion of neutral monism; he elegantly argues that with this
type of physicalism it is possible to disambiguate on the notion of physicalism in
such a way that the problem is resolved. The further issue then arises of whether
we have reason to believe that this type of physicalism is in fact true. Ultimately,
one needs to argue for this position by inference to the best explanation, and I
show that this new type of physicalism does not hold promise of more explanatory
prowess than its relevant rivals, and that, whether it is better than its rivals or not,
it is doubtful whether it would furnish us with genuine explanations of the phenomenal
at all. 相似文献

Empathy and viewing another person as a subject rather than an object are often associated in theoretical contexts, but empirical research of the relation is scarce. The purpose of the present research was to investigate the relationship between subject/object view and empathy. In Study 1, participants watched film clips and indicated their empathy for specific characters in the clips, as well as the extent to which they saw these persons as subjects and objects. The subject/object view explained some, but not all, of the differences in empathy, which raised the question of what else accounts for differences in empathy. A second study was conducted to investigate whether the difficulty of the other's situation also contributes. In Study 2, another group watched the film clips and rated the difficulty of the film character's situations in addition to empathy and subject/object view. The results of Study 2 revealed that subject view/object and perceived difficulty together explain a substantial part of differences in empathy. It was concluded that empathy is evoked primarily when a person in difficulty is viewed as a subject. 相似文献

Forty female students participated in an experiment where they were asked to suppress a negative self-relevant thought. Half the group suppressed in a loud white noise condition (90 decibels) whereas the other half suppressed in a noise condition of much lower intensity (50 decibels). The subjects were divided up into two groups on the basis of their scores on the Obsessive Compulsive Thoughts Checklist (Bouvard, Cottraux, Mollard, Arthus, Lachance, Guerin, Sauteraud & Yao, 1997). It was predicted that 1) Subjects scoring high on obsessive-compulsive symptoms would show more intrusive thoughts 2) Loud noise would increase intrusive thoughts, especially for subjects scoring high on obsessive-compulsive symptoms. As expected subjects who scored high on obsessive-compulsive symptoms showed more intrusive thoughts, but contrary to expectations loud noise did not increase intrusive thoughts. In fact obsessive-compulsive symptoms were related to more intrusions in the condition of noise of less intensity but not in the condition of loud noise. Implications are discussed. 相似文献

Different cognitive functions recruit a number of different, often overlapping, areas of the brain. Theories in cognitive
and computational neuroscience are beginning to take this kind of functional integration into account. The contributions to
this special issue consider what functional integration tells us about various aspects of the mind such as perception, language,
volition, agency, and reward. Here, I consider how and why functional integration may matter for the mind; I discuss a general
theoretical framework, based on generative models, that may unify many of the debates surrounding functional integration and
the mind; and I briefly introduce each of the contributions. 相似文献

Recent landmark content analyses of sexual content on television (e.g., Kunkel, Biely, Eyal, Cope-Farrar, Donnerstein, & Fandrich, 2003) provide a baseline for interpreting depictions of sex on individual programs. The present study was designed to investigate the nature and extent of sexual content on HBO’s popular television series Sex and the City. Compared to television in general, Sex and the City is more likely to depict sexual content (including sexual talk and behavior), intercourse between established partners (rather than between partners who had just met), and sexual risks and responsibilities (including sexual patience, precaution, and risks/negative consequences). Sex and the City does not differ from television in general in terms of pairing alcohol or drugs with sexual intercourse. The results suggest that Sex and the City is more likely than television in general to depict “healthy” sex. 相似文献

Two studies examined the role of informational framing and individual differences on acceptance of the moon landings conspiracy theory (CT). In Study 1, participants were randomly assigned to one of three experimental groups in which they were exposed to different forms of information about the moon landings CT. Results showed that information critical of the moon landings CT resulted in attenuated conspiracist beliefs and that information supportive of the CT resulted in stronger conspiracist beliefs. In addition, stronger belief in the moon landings CT was associated with participants' belief in other CTs and openness to experience. In Study 2, participants completed a survey measuring their belief in the moon landings CT and a range of individual difference factors. Results showed that acceptance of the moon landings CT was associated with the adoption of a conspiracist worldview and schizotypal tendencies. Possibilities for conceptualizing the functional roles played by CTs are discussed. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

ABSTRACTIn the present study, attentional bias was investigated as a potential predisposing mechanism for the contamination-related subtype of obsessive-compulsive disorder (C-OC disorder). Fifty healthy participants with varying degrees of subclinical C-OC symptoms performed a visual search task to measure differential attentional biases elicited by neutral, disgust-, and fear-specific pictorial material. Participants had to find a target picture within five neutral distractor pictures randomly presented on different locations in an array. The task was to decide whether the array contained an unpleasant target picture or not. In randomly-selected emotional trials, participants were further asked about the content of the picture and the confidence of their answer. The results show that the reaction times significantly differed between the emotional and neutral pictures. Participants were significantly more confident in answering questions referring to fear compared to disgust pictures. This effect was marginally amplified in participants with higher C-OC symptoms. We discuss the results within the framework of the cost and benefit hypothesis, which postulates that disgust evolutionarily elicits stronger uncertainty compared to fear, owing to the ambiguous nature of the stimuli. Increased uncertainty might be an important but underestimated factor for pathological disgust experience, such as in obsessive-compulsive disorder. 相似文献
