The present paper is an attempt to explore the impact of Karl Popper’s ideas on the views of a number of intellectual groups in post‐revolutionary Iran. Throughout the text, we have tried to make use of original sources and our own personal experiences. The upshot of the arguments of the paper is that the Viennese philosopher has made a long‐lasting impression on the intellectual scene of present‐day Iran in that even those socio‐political groups which are not in favour of his ideas, especially his model of critical rationalism, have felt the urgent need to make themselves familiar with them. Moreover, many of Popper’s ideas have directly or indirectly influenced the thinking of the decision‐makers in Iran since 1978. 相似文献

Using a questionnaire adapted from Arnett and Padilla‐Walker (2015), the authors examined the concept of adulthood among 366 Iranian emerging adults ages 17 to 29. This article aims to present the past and present state and future possibilities of philosophy of education as an academic
discipline in Turkey as related to teacher training programs and academic studies in higher education institutions. It takes
philosophy of education as consisting of the approaches that have emerged in its history. It has come to Turkey as a part
of the modernization of education. It seems that during the Republican era in Turkey before World War II, mainly due to the
dominance of the German conception of educational studies, the pedagogy and the history of pedagogy courses and the textbooks
for them, which were central to the curricula of teacher training schools, contained the subjects of philosophy of education
in its continental form; and after World War II philosophy of education is mostly understood, primarily due to Turkey’s changing
international relations and the spread of American influence, as the isms and the doctrines approaches as found in the USA
between the 1940s and 1960s, while other approaches in the field have been less influential. The article identifies how the
restructuring of the teacher training system and the curricula of Faculties of Education in 1998 was a serious blow to the
discipline, since it excluded philosophy of education from the curricula of teacher preparation schools, and the flourishing
discipline thus lost its hold and importance in the undergraduate programs, and then in graduate programs. But the 2006 revision
of the curricula has given a kiss of life to the discipline. There are reasons to think that it can recover in the coming
period.

Despite a comprehensive reproductive health program there is little sex education available in Iran. In this article we present
results of a study conducted to identify content area for a proposed sex education program for married Iranian women. Twenty-one
married female clients (23–45 years) and 18 reproductive health providers, recruited from urban health clinics in Tehran using
non-probability sampling, participated in four focus group discussions. Sexual health information needs related to reproductive
tract and sexually transmitted infections, “acceptability” of certain sexual practices such as oral and anal intercourse,
and the sexual response cycles and physiology of men and women. Women’s sexual concerns related to communication, incompatibility
of sexual interests and desire, and their ability to maintain a strong marriage. Two themes cut across women’s responses to
all questions: modesty and maintaining a strong marriage. Results contributed to the design of a sex education program that
addressed the specific information needs and concerns of Iranian women. 相似文献

Maze Suite is a complete set of tools that enables researchers to perform spatial and navigational behavioral experiments within interactive, easy-to-create, and extendable (e.g., multiple rooms) 3-D virtual environments. Maze Suite can be used to design and edit adapted 3-D environments, as well as to track subjects' behavioral performance. Maze Suite consists of three main applications: an editing program for constructing maze environments (MazeMaker), a visualization/rendering module (MazeWalker), and an analysis and mapping tool (MazeViewer). Each of these tools is run and used from a graphical user interface, thus making editing, execution, and analysis user friendly. MazeMaker is a .NET architecture application that can easily be used to create new 3-D environments and to edit objects (e.g., geometric shapes, pictures, landscapes, etc.) or add them to the environment effortlessly. In addition, Maze Suite has the capability of sending signal-out pulses to physiological recording devices, using standard computer ports. Maze Suite, with all three applications, is a unique and complete toolset for researchers who want to easily and rapidly deploy interactive 3-D environments. 相似文献

The purpose of this study was to assess the mediating effect of self-efficacy on the relationship between identity styles
and academic achievement. Four-hundred high school students (200 male, 200 female) who were selected through cluster random
sampling, completed the Revised Identity Styles Inventory (ISI, 6G) and Morgan-Jink Student Efficacy Scales (MJSES). Path
analysis was used to analyze the data. In general, the results indicated that informational identity style had a positive
direct impact on academic achievement, while diffuse/avoidance identity style had a negative effect on academic achievement.
Data also suggested that informational and normative identity style had a positive influence on academic achievement through
the mediation of academic self-efficacy.

Current techniques for generating a knowledge space, such as QUERY, guarantee that the resulting structure is closed under union, but not that it satisfies wellgradedness, which is one of the defining conditions for a learning space. We give necessary and sufficient conditions on the base of a union-closed set family that ensures that the family is well-graded. We consider two cases, depending on whether or not the family contains the empty set. We also provide algorithms for efficiently testing these conditions, and for augmenting a set family in a minimal way, to one that satisfies these conditions. 相似文献

Body-weight maintenance is required in a variety of behavioral and physiological studies. A PC-based animal-weighing system is described; it features automated data collection and allows for accurate control of body weight in test animals via manipulation of food intake. Major system components are a PC XT-compatible computer, Lotus 1-2-3 and National Instruments Measure software, and a digital electronic balance. The system is controlled by Lotus macros, which present menus to the user. Menus provide for the basic operations of the system, including establishing new data files, collecting weight data, printing, and transferring files to a laboratory minicomputer. The optional weight-maintenance algorithm calculates the amount of food necessary to maintain target body weights. Some important aspects of this algorithm, including maintenance-feeding and gain parameters, can be manipulated to reduce weight oscillation in test animals or to accommodate the maintenance of body weight of different animal species. The system facilitates acquisition and recording of weight data, minimizes the frequency of error, and reduces variability both within and across animals when body-weight maintenance is required. 相似文献

The time course of chord priming was explored in four experiments. In chord priming, a chord (a typical combination of simultaneously sounded tones) primes other chords that are musically related. In the present study, the prime duration and the stimulus onset asynchrony (SOA) between the prime chord and the chord to be judged were varied. Priming occurred at an SOA and prime duration as short as 50 msec, the shortest tested. When the prime duration was held constant at 50 msec, priming occurred at an SOA as long as 2,500 msec, the longest tested, and the magnitude of the priming effect did not diminish. To eliminate a possible role of sensory memory in maintaining the priming effect during the silence following the prime, a 250-msec noise mask was presented immediately following the 50-msec prime. The interpolated noise mask did not eliminate priming, thereby supporting the view that chord priming is the consequence of associative activation. 相似文献
