Rückfallanalyse und -bearbeitung bei Alkoholabhängigen

An approach for the psychodynamically oriented work with relapsed alcohol-dependent patients is outlined. A distinction between two types of relapse is made which is based on different motivational and behavioral systems. Type 1 is characterized by the aim to return to self-regulated drinking, beginning with low doses and gradually increasing levels of consumption. Type 2 aims at the immediate elimination of subjectively unbearable emotions and starts with an excessive level of alcohol intake. The distinction is related to the concept of subjective appropriation of dependency and to the personality background of the patient. Consequences for the practical therapeutic work with relapsed alcoholics are proposed.     

Toward the 'Rights of the Poor' Human Rights in Liberation Theology

In this article, the author traces the response of liberation theologians to human rights initiatives through three distinct stages over the past thirty years: from an initial avoidance of the concept, to an early critique, and then to a nuanced theological appropriation. He contends that liberation theology brings a thoroughgoing concern for the poor and an innovative methodology of historicization to the discussion of human rights. In clarifying the treatment of human rights within a specific religious movement, the author also addresses larger questions about the specific role of human rights language. To this end, the article shows how liberation theologians have grappled concretely with the divisions among different 'generations' of rights, various rights discourses, and diverse options for rights advocacy.

Effects of morphological Family Size for young readers

Dutch children, from the second and fourth grade of primary school, were each given a visual lexical decision test on 210 Dutch monomorphemic words. After removing words not recognized by a majority of the younger group, (lexical) decisions were analysed by mixed‐model regression methods to see whether morphological Family Size influenced decision times over and above several other covariates. The effect of morphological Family Size on decision time was mixed: larger families led to significantly faster decision times for the second graders but not for the fourth graders. Since facilitative effects on decision times had been found for adults, we offer a developmental account to explain the absence of an effect of Family Size on decision times for fourth graders.
