The Family Day Unit at the Maryborough Hospital, London, carries out an intensive treatment programme for highly dysfunctional families. Up to ten families attend the Unit five days per week from nine a.m. to three p.m. They stay for a period of at least three months and not longer than fifteen months. Normally some twenty to thirty patients, adults and children, attend every day. This paper gives the reasons for setting up this Family Day Unit. The aims and structure of the Unit are described, the treatment method outlined and some preliminary results are discussed.  相似文献

A learning experiment was performed with rats and mice in a Hebb-Williams problem box, using Problem No. 12. A measure of the habit strength ( n ) was calculated, using the same criterion for both groups. In addition, the habit strength was calculated for another criterion for the rats. With the common criterion the function of learning was n = 2.49 (1–0.88 n ) and n = 1.71 (1–0.94 n ) for rats and mice respectively. According to the other criterion for the rat experiments, the function of learning was n = 2.35 (1–0.84 n ). The measure and learning function is chosen and discussed with reference to Björkman's model for the measurement of associative strength and theory of verbal rote learning.  相似文献

Children diagnosed Conduct Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, or Anxiety Disorder by DSM-III criteria were compared to contrast groups of Physically Disabled and Normal children using the Conners Teacher Rating Scale (CTRS). Discriminant function analyses of the CTRS ratings yielded accurate classification (67% correct) only when Conduct was combined with Attention Deficit and Normals were combined with Physically Disabled. The teacher raters seemed to be describing the children as behaviorally disordered with and without hyperactivity. The data also suggest that Attention Deficit Disorder is part of a broader Conduct Problems dimension.This study was part of a dissertation submitted to the Graduate School, Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, by the senior author in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Ph.D. This research was supported in part by Maternal and Child Health Grant No. 424 awarded to the UCLA Neuropsychiatrie Institute. The paper presents a daily analysis of the language recovery of a patient who was globally aphasic at the time of her first observation and who had recovered language, as measured by the Western Aphasia Battery, at the time of her discharge 14 days later. The paper emphasizes the relatively regular growth of normal syntactic, lexical, and pragmatic features coupled with similar regular decreases in aphasic features. Observations of both phenomena are necessary to describe language recovery.  相似文献
