The present study evaluated the effects of a self‐management intervention on scheduled data recording by classroom instructors at a school for children with intellectual disability and neurodevelopmental disorders. In a multiple baseline design across two classrooms, the instructors recorded student data according to an established protocol at the school and based on earlier training they had received. During intervention, the instructors self‐monitored implementation of data recording procedures that were prompted by a signal from an automated count‐down timer. The self‐management intervention increased scheduled data recording by participants in both classrooms to 90–100%, and these results were maintained at 1‐ and 2‐month follow‐up assessments. These findings add to the small literature concerning self‐managed approaches to training and performance improvement, extend application within educational settings, and suggest practical advantages for supporting competencies of care providers. 相似文献

This research examined attitudes toward condom purchase. Recent evidence is mixed. While some studies show attitudes have become more positive, other studies suggest that negative attitudes still dominate. Our own research examined the possibility that such attitudes may be ambivalent, meaning that the same individuals may simultaneously hold both positive and negative beliefs about condom purchase. The results confirmed this prediction. Study 1 showed that condom purchase evoked a combination of both negative beliefs about lifestyles and positive beliefs concerning the personal confidence of the consumer. These beliefs had competing effects on more global attitudes toward condom purchase. Specific beliefs about condoms were shown to provide the best indication of. whether participants actually used condoms. Study 2 employed standard measures of attitudinal ambivalence. The results conceptually replicated the finding that ambivalence was greater for those who purchased condoms compared to controls. 相似文献

The current investigation examined the form and magnitude of the relationship between political skill and two intrapersonal worker reactions—job satisfaction and job tension. Political skill was hypothesized to demonstrate an inverted U-shaped nonlinear relationship with job satisfaction and a U-shaped relationship with job tension. Data from three separate studies supported the hypothesized relationships. Specifically, moderate levels of political skill were associated with higher levels of job satisfaction (Studies 1-3) and lower levels of job tension (Studies 1 and 2). Conversely, in comparison to more moderate levels, higher and lower levels of political skill were adversely related to these outcomes. This paper describes the Bureau of Health Professions (BHPr) Graduate Psychology Education program (GPE), which supports projects that train health service psychologists for work with underserved populations. BHPr history and funding criteria are discussed, as are those of BHPr's parent organization, the Health Resources Service Administration. BHPr objectives and methods for support of clinical psychology training parallel those that BHPr has used to support training in other heath professions. The paper also describes three psychology internship training programs in academic medical settings that competed successfully for BHPr GPE funding in 2002. The three training projects differ significantly in training rotation sites, target populations with which trainees work, and the other health care professions that partner with psychology in interdisciplinary training—but they are similar in that each project provides an example of a program that effectively satisfied BHPr criteria for expanding psychology's scope of practice with underserved populations. 相似文献

Abstract. A case of community‐based service learning in the School of Theology at the University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg, South Africa is analyzed for what it means to teach biblical studies in an African context where biblical scholarship is partially constituted by ordinary African readers of the Bible and where context is a central pedagogical concept. Reflecting on a series of experiments over the past ten years in two second‐year University level modules, the article analyzes the contours of a partnership between the academy and local communities of the poor, working‐class, and marginalized through community‐based service learning. This partnership provides a form of contextualization that enables students to integrate the forms of engagement with the Bible they bring to their formal theological studies and the forms of critical distance that characterize the discipline of biblical studies. 相似文献

I defend a realist commitment to the truth of our most empirically successful current scientific theories—on the ground that
it provides the best explanation of their success and the success of their falsified predecessors. I argue that this Best
Current Theory Realism (BCTR) is superior to preservative realism (PR) and the structural realism (SR). I show that PR and
SR rest on the implausible assumption that the success of outdated theories requires the realist to hold that these theories
possessed truthful components. PR is undone by the fact that past theories succeeded even though their ontological claims
about unobservables are false. SR backpeddles to argue that the realist is only committed to the truth about the structure
of relations implied by the outdated theory, in order to explain its success. I argue that the structural component of theories
is too bare-bones thin to explain the predictive/explanatory success of outdated theories. I conclude that BCTR can meet these
objections to PR and SR, and also overcome the pessimistic meta-induction. 相似文献

This two‐sample investigation examined the influence of perceived resources on the form and magnitude of the relationships between accountability for others (AFO) and job tension and job satisfaction. Employing resource theory, we hypothesized that the non‐linear relationship between AFO and job tension would surface only for individuals high in perceived resources, whereas the association between these constructs would be positive and linear for individuals low in perceived resources. A similar relationship was hypothesized for AFO and job satisfaction in which the non‐linear effect would arise for individuals high in perceived resources, and negative linear effects would emerge for those low in perceived resources. Data from two samples (N= 201; N= 182) provided support and replication for the hypotheses. Implications of the results and directions for future research are discussed. 相似文献
