This article describes Let's Talk, a counseling center outreach program. Counselors hold walk‐in hours across campus to engage students who might not otherwise seek counseling. Locations are chosen to reach underserved communities. Counselors offer informal consultation, a less formal alternative to traditional counseling. Este artículo describe Let's Talk (Hablemos), un programa de acercamiento a los centros de consejería. A meta-analysis was conducted on job demands, resources, and attitudes and their relation with burnout in regard to the COR theory. The version of the Maslach Burnout Inventory used was explored as a moderator of the aforementioned variables. Results suggest that higher demands, lower resources, and lower adaptive organizational attitudes are associated with burnout. In particular, results of the current study show stronger relations than previous meta-analysis (Lee & Ashforth, 1996) have suggested. The scale type also provided some evidence of moderation, with stronger effects found in samples that utilized the MBI-HSS. Implications of the findings in relation to the COR theory and future research directions to clarify the relation between job demands, job resources, organizational attitudes and burnout are discussed. 相似文献

Twenty right-handed grade-school stutterers and nonstutterers matched for sex, handedness, and age were the subjects of this neuromotor investigation. They were required to tap a button as rapidly as possible in a single-task control condition, in three increasingly demanding dual-task conditions in which finger-tapping and speech occured concurrently, and in a dual-task condition in which the subjects finger-tapped and vocalized the sound of a siren. The conditions were randomized, and hand order was counterbalanced. The overall tapping rate of the nonstutterers was statistically faster than that of the stutterers for both the right and left hand. Relative to the single-task silent control condition, the tapping rates of both groups decreased as the dual-task speech conditions became more demanding. However, the tapping rate of the nonstutterers was significantly faster across the speech conditions. Neither the group by hand, group by condition, or group by hand by condition interaction was statistically significant. The stutterers responded like the nonstutterers, though more slowly, providing support for the current contentions that the neuromotor system of stutterers is less robust than that of nonstutterers and more affected by the demands of speech production. 相似文献

Movement to spatial targets that can, in principle, be carried out by more than one effector can be distinguished from movements that involve specific configurations of body parts. The experiments reported here investigate memory span for a series of hand configurations and memory span for a series of hand movements to spatial locations. Spans were produced normally, or in conditions in which a suppression task was carried out on the right or the left hand while the movements to be remembered were presented. All movements were recalled using the right hand. There were two suppression tasks. One involved repeatedly squeezing a tube and so changing the configuration of the hand, and the other involved tapping a repeated series of spatial targets. The spatial tapping task interfered with span for spatial locations when it was presented on either the right or the left hand but did not affect span for movement pattern. The movement suppression task interfered with memory for movement pattern when it was presented on either the right or the left hand, but did not interfere with span for spatial locations. It is concluded that memory for movement configurations involves different processes from those used in spatial tasks and that there may be a need for a subsystem of working memory that is specific for movement configuration. 相似文献

This article is concerned with the process of moral development, or specifically, how children acquire a sense of right and wrong from their interactions with two major agents of socialization—parents and peers. The first section of the paper critically examines the literature on parental influences and draws several conclusions about the ways in which parents affect children's moral character. The focus then shifts to a review of the literature on peer group contributions to moral socialization. The paper concludes by examining the literature on cross-pressures, and offering a perspective on the ways in which parental and peer group influences combine to affect children's moral development. 相似文献
