In this study, we aimed to evaluate the relationship between the repetitive thinking styles and anxiety and depression in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). One hundred IBD outpatients (39 active and 61 remission) attending the gastroenterology clinic and 100 healthy controls were included. The rumination and worry scores of IBD patients, particularly in their active period, were significantly higher than controls. Additionally, the correlation of rumination and worry with anxiety and depression was statistically significant. Our results suggest that psychological interventions targeting repetitive thinking would alleviate depression and anxiety as well as GI symptoms in people with IBD which should be confirmed by further studies.

IntroductionIn this study, it was analyzed whether self-efficacy has a mediating role between the emotional intelligence and job satisfaction of primary school teachers.ObjectiveIt is to test the relationships between primary school teachers job satisfaction, self-efficacy and emotional intelligence levels.MethodA path analysis was performed on a sample of 252 primary school teachers.ResultsIt was found that self-efficacy mediated the relationship between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction.ConclusionBased on the findings of the study, the relationships between emotional intelligence, job satisfaction and self-efficacy were discussed in the literature and various suggestions were made to concerned future researchers and practitioners. 相似文献
Chronic electrophysiological recordings of slow field potentials from tone-imprinted chicks show significantly enhanced fast Fourier transform (FFT) power during playback of rhythmic 400-Hz imprinting tone stimuli in the presence of a surrogate mother. The FFT power was already significantly higher during the very first imprinting session, when the chick was exposed to the imprinting tone stimuli in the presence of the surrogate mother compared to spontaneous activity (EEG recordings). During discrimination tests, where individual chicks were exposed to the imprinting tone stimuli in alternation to rhythmic 700-Hz tone stimuli (discrimination tone stimuli), the FFT power was significantly higher during playback of the imprinting tone stimuli than the FFT power during playback of the discrimination tone stimuli. Chicks which were imprinted in the absence of the surrogate mother also show enhanced FFT power in the course of the imprinting sessions; however, in contrast to the first group, they did not show significant differences in the FFT power during playback of either the imprinting or discrimination tone stimuli in the discrimination tests. Our results suggest that the high FFT power of a potential imprinting stimulus or situation, which is expressed in newborn (still naive) chicks, is maintained only when the chicks form an association between the tone stimuli and a positive emotional situation (represented by the surrogate mother). 相似文献
Recent studies indicate that category learning is mediated by multiple neuronal systems. It has been shown that patients with marked impairments in executive functions, explicit memory and procedural learning can categorize the exemplars and prototype of a previously trained category. Simple, self-organizing neuronal networks can explain prototype learning and related dysfunctions in Alzheimer's disease, and provide a model of how prototype learning is mediated by circumscribed mechanisms in the visual cortex. 相似文献
Anxiety in children age 8 years and above has been successfully treated with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). However, the efficacy of CBT for anxious children ages 4-7 years has not, to date, been fully investigated. This paper piloted a CBT intervention targeting child anxiety that was delivered exclusively to parents of 26 children with anxiety symptoms ages 4-7 years. The intervention consisted of four 2-hour group sessions of four to six parents (couples). These group sessions were followed by four individual telephone sessions, once per week across a 4-week period. The pre- and postintervention assessment involved measures of multiple constructs of child anxiety (anxiety symptoms, children's fears, behavioral inhibition, and internalizing symptoms) from multiple informants (parents, children, and teachers). Parents also reported parenting strategies they were likely to use to manage their children's anxiety pre- and postintervention. Results indicated a significant decrease in child anxiety and behavioral inhibition as reported by parents and teachers. Furthermore, mothers reported significant increases in their use of positive reinforcement, and modeling and reassurance, and a significant decrease in their use of reinforcement of dependency directly after treatment. Taken together, parent-directed CBT appears to be an effective approach for treating children ages 4-7 years with anxiety symptoms. Limitations of the current research are discussed. 相似文献
Medically unexplained symptoms (MUS) are one of the key features of somatoform disorders. Although MUS are currently treated as both categorical (in terms of the diagnosis of somatoform disorders) and dimensional (in terms of quantitative measures of somatization/somatic symptom reporting), little is known about the empirical latent structure of MUS. Using taxometric analyses, the latent structure of somatic symptom reporting was analyzed with the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ)-15 in two student samples (N = 782 and N = 2,577) and a primary care sample (N = 519). We applied three popular taxometric methods: Maximum Eigenvalue (MAXEIG), Mean Above Minus Below a Cut (MAMBAC) and Latent-Mode (L-Mode). Simulation data were created to evaluate the appropriateness of the data for our analyses and to create the comparison curve fit index (CCFI) as an objective outcome measure. The results of all taxometric methods in any of the three data sets were in favor of a dimensional solution (CCFI < .50). Simulated taxonic and dimensional datasets differed substantially and the samples were appropriate for taxometric analysis. Accordingly, the latent structure of somatization/somatic symptom reporting as assessed by the PHQ-15 is dimensional in both primary care and student samples. Implications regarding the practical application as well as models of etiology and pathogenesis of somatic symptom reporting are discussed. Job insecurity is related to many detrimental outcomes, with reduced job satisfaction and affective organizational commitment being the 2 most prominent reactions. Yet, effect sizes vary greatly, suggesting the presence of moderator variables. On the basis of Lazarus's cognitive appraisal theory, we assumed that country-level enacted uncertainty avoidance and a country's social safety net would affect an individual's appraisal of job insecurity. More specifically, we hypothesized that these 2 country-level variables would buffer the negative relationships between job insecurity and the 2 aforementioned job attitudes. Combining 3 different data sources, we tested the hypotheses in a sample of 15,200 employees from 24 countries by applying multilevel modeling. The results confirmed the hypotheses that both enacted uncertainty avoidance and the social safety net act as cross-level buffer variables. Furthermore, our data revealed that the 2 cross-level interactions share variance in explaining the 2 job attitudes. Our study responds to calls to look at stress processes from a multilevel perspective and highlights the potential importance of governmental regulation when it comes to individual stress processes. 相似文献
