Time perception in severe traumatic brain injury patients: A study comparing different methodologies
In this study, we investigated time perception in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI). Fifteen TBI patients and 15 matched healthy controls participated in the study. Participants were tested with durations above and below 1 s on three different temporal tasks that involved time reproduction, production, and discrimination tasks. Data variables analyzed included amount of errors, relative errors, and coefficient of variation. Both groups completed a neuropsychological battery that included measures of attention, working memory, and executive functions. Results revealed significant differences between groups on the time reproduction and discrimination tasks, whereas groups showed similar performance on the time production task. Correlation analyses showed involvement of attention, working memory and executive functions on the time reproduction and time discrimination tasks, but there was no involvement on the time production task. These findings suggest that TBI does not impact specific temporal function. Rather, impairments in attention, working memory and executive function abilities may explain lower temporal performance in people with TBI. 相似文献

Recently, independent lines of research have indirectly supported the notion that social variables, especially parent–child relationships, have a significant impact on adults’ memories of their early life. In order to directly assess this Italian students were asked to recall as many memories involving parents as they could from before the age of 6 in a 3-minute timed recall task (i.e., memory fluency). They also filled out assessments about parental involvement in their lives as well as the quality of their relationships with their mothers and fathers. We found that, for males, the more involved the parents and the warmer the relationships between sons and both their mothers and their fathers, the more early memories, the more positive early memories, and the more episodic memories men recalled. For women, the warmer the relationship with their mothers, the earlier their earliest memory. Results are discussed in terms of gendered parent–child interactions as well as McAdam's emergent life-story theory. 相似文献

How Linearity and Structural Complexity Interact and Affect the Recognition of Italian Derived Words
The majority of words in most languages consist of derived poly-morphemic words but a cross-linguistic review of the literature (Amenta and Crepaldi in Front Psychol 3:232–243, 2012) shows a contradictory picture with respect to how such words are represented and processed. The current study examined the effects of linearity and structural complexity on the processing of Italian derived words. Participants performed a lexical decision task on three types of prefixed and suffixed words and nonwords differing in the complexity of their internal structure. The processing of these words was indeed found to vary according to the nature of the affixes, the order in which they appear, and the type of information the affix encodes. The results thus indicate that derived words are not a uniform class and the best account of these findings appears to be a constraint-based or probabilistic multi-route processing model (e.g., Kuperman et al. in Lang Cogn Process 23:1089–1132, 2008; J Exp Psychol Hum Percept Perform 35:876–895, 2009; J Mem Lang 62:83–97, 2010). 相似文献

This paper reports a study that was aimed to evaluate executive functions in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis patients. The groups tested comprised 22 relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis patients, and 22 non-brain damaged controls. When one is engaged in two speeded tasks, not simultaneously but with some form of alternation, it is slower to respond to an item of task A if it was preceded by an item of task B, than when it was preceded by an item of task A. Shifts between sets of cognitive operations can be internally or externally generated. Endogenous task shift refers to advance preparation for the new task. In the present study, we tested endogenous shift cost in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis patients. The results indicate a greater shift cost for patients than for non-brain damaged controls. 相似文献

This paper reports a study that was aimed to rehabilitate executive functions in closed head injury (CHI) and anterior communicating
artery (ACoA) aneurysm patients. The groups tested comprised 10 CHI patients, 9 ACoA aneurysm patients and 19 controls. We
employed a dual-task paradigm that is known to tap the ability to co-ordinate two actions. The treatment consisted of five
experimental sessions, in which the dual-task paradigm was used. In the CHI study, the dual-task cost was measured before
the treatment (assessment), immediately after the treatment (retest), and 3 months after the treatment (follow-up). In the
ACoA aneurysm study, the dual-task cost was also assessed 12 months after the treatment. A significant reduction of the dual-task
cost from assessment to retest was found. This reduction remained stable in the follow-up sessions. The results are discussed
with reference to the absence of spontaneous recovery of this specific executive function and to the possibility that the
beneficial effect of the treatment generalises to other executive functions and/or daily living activities.

A model‐based process is a methodological approach that facilitates interventions in new and ill or not structured problem situations. It is oriented towards improving the robustness of the intervention and its results in an incremental definition of both the problem formulation and the model, in order to reduce the uncertainty that is not only associated with the model parameters but also with the model structure, and sometimes also with the problem formulation. The nature and results of this approach, which consider the interaction between an analyst and the actors of the decision system as the decision aiding core, are proposed in relation to some actual interventions. 相似文献

This paper illustrates the underlying structures and logic of a multicriteria modelling and validation process, using the case study of an intervention on behalf of a regional Government in Italy. The hospital service emergency department reorganization was investigated in interaction with the many actors involved in the implementations of a previous regional plan. The principal elements of the modelling were: (1) the representation and structuring of opinions, proposals and implementations of actors involved in the organizational change process and/or in the plan implementation process; (2) the identification and representation of situation types by the elaboration of multidimensional reference profiles in relationship to different interpretations of the emergency treatment; (3) the development of multidimensional models related to the different profiles and the formulation of hypotheses on the evolution of models in a constructive approach. Basic elements of an interactive procedure applied to the model validation process and to the development of a validated reference frame for organizational action are also presented. 相似文献
