Male lawyers, female lawyers, and female legal secretaries were interviewed concerning their work satisfaction, the nature of their employment-related gratifications and deprivations, and their work values. The data showed that the three samples' responses concerning work-related gratifications, deprivations, and values were largely similar. When they differed, the splits tended to be along the lines of job status (lawyer vs. secretary) rather than along the lines of gender (male vs. female). Background and objectives: Theories of dyadic coping and empirical literature have intermittently and inconsistently highlighted antecedents and outcomes of dyadic coping. The purpose of this review was to systematically identify the antecedents and outcomes of dyadic coping in close personal relationships.Design: A PRISMA-guided systematic review and narrative synthesis.Methods: Literature searches were conducted using CINAHL, PubMed, PsycINFO, and citation pearl growing to identify studies that were relevant to the aim of the review. The search strategy and exclusion criteria led to a final sample of 46 studies that each highlighted antecedents and outcomes of dyadic coping among married couples. Each study was critically appraised and analyzed using narrative synthesis.Results: The narrative synthesis highlighted five antecedents (learning, gender, relationship characteristics, relationship role, and cultural influences) and two outcomes (relationship functioning and personal health) of dyadic coping.Conclusion: The review exposes inconsistencies in the conceptualization of dyadic coping, highlights a range of antecedents that influence dyadic coping, and suggests that dyadic coping can have positive benefits for relationship functioning and personal health. The findings have implications for future research and practice (e.g. when working with couples to improve relationship functioning). 相似文献

This study explored professionals’ perceptions of providing psychological therapy in prisons. Eight professionals, affiliated with counselling as well as counselling, clinical and forensic psychology, were interviewed. A social constructionist paradigm was used to understand how social and discursive practices shaped professionals’ accounts, allowing for critical engagement with taken-for-granted practices. Participants’ accounts were analysed using a social constructionist informed thematic analysis. Four themes were constructed: (a) performing therapy, (b) humanising the client, (c) frames inside frames and (d) a challenging but rewarding experience. The findings of this investigation indicated that therapy provision was interwoven with the socio-political ideals governing prison, which created a conflict between therapeutic values and penal values. This conflict has important implications for establishing and maintaining ethical and deontological practices in prison, particularly surrounding the dynamics power. The study indicated it is important for professionals to monitor and manage potential stigma and discrimination within therapy or service delivery. The results also found that working in prisons is a complex experience, which requires careful consideration for enhancing professional development for the prison therapist. 相似文献

The New Zealand early childhood Te Whāriki Curriculum’s vision statement draws attention to the responsibility teachers have to create environments in which children can develop holistically; including spiritually. This paper outlines the findings from a small qualitative research project that explored teachers’ perspectives on their understanding of spirituality and ‘wairua’ and the role they have in fostering these aspects in children’s development. Participants were in agreement that the concept of wairua and spiritualty are interwoven with both being about the spirit, soul, inner being, heart, the sum of who you are. Participants were in agreement that fostering this aspect of a child’s development was part of a teacher’s responsibility. All respondents identified implications for their practice which included having environments that were inviting, stress free, engaging and filled with natural resources. The study highlighted that their initial teacher education programmes failed to cover these aspects in spirituality in any depth. 相似文献

This article highlights the significance food may have in group therapy with children and adolescents and its meanings for particular group members. It focuses on the interactions between the group members and leaders in response to food. Along with providing actual nutrition, food represents emotional and symbolic nurturing, and may trigger salient conflicts and issues with which group members are struggling. An essential role of the group leader is to manage conflicts that may be evoked by the provision of food. The “Staying on Track” project tracked infants, preschoolers, and their families in Brockville, Ontario, Canada for a period of 3 years. Public health nurses at preassigned intervals provided information and counseling for families and made referrals to other agencies if problems were judged to be beyond the expertise of the “Staying on Track” staff. To assess the effectiveness of the program in improving child development, a cohort design was selected to allow development to be assessed over 5½ years in 3 years. Three cohorts and a comparison group were included in the study. Each cohort received different procedures for identification and tracking. Cohort 1 received at least four home visits, cohort 2 received three clinic visits, and cohort 3 received one clinic visit. Intervention and follow-up from these visits included home visits, phone calls, and referrals for all three cohorts. Comparing cohort 1 to cohort 2 at 18 months, highly significant effects were found; few significant differences were found at 3½ years between cohort 2 and 3 and very few positive effects were found for 5½-year-old children who had been in the tracking system since they were 3½ years of age. Little is known about service delivery for those in the correctional system with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders (COD). Using data from the National Criminal Justice Treatment Practices survey (NCJTP) on community corrections and jail agencies, this study found that correctional organizations that offer COD services differ from agencies that do not. Organizations that respond to the needs of COD offenders tend to be more \"service friendly,\" rank higher on measures of various dimensions of organizational climate that embrace learning and goal achievement, and tend to adopt more innovations, particularly those classified as evidence-based practices. These survey findings indicate that correctional agencies who serve COD offenders are in a better position to be responsive to the changing service needs of the populations, and are more likely to be able to balance public safety and treatment goals. Future steps to develop support environments for COD assessment and treatment services are discussed in light of these findings. 相似文献

Recent multifoci research reports that multiple sources of justice exist in organizations. In expanding this framework, we address how judgments of overall procedural fairness and behavioral intentions are influenced by different experiences of voice-based participation across a multi-stage decision-making process. The results of two experiments were consistent with a fairness theory framework. Overall, decision procedures were judged to be the fairest and the intention to volunteer was highest when participants were allowed voice in their team and when their team was allowed voice by organizational authorities. When voice was denied by both the team and the organization or was denied by either party, fairness ratings, and participant intentions were depressed and did not significantly differ from each other. This pattern of results suggests that individuals are influenced by transactions across decision-making stages and that such interdependence should be considered when attempting to understand the meaningfulness of voice-based participation. 相似文献
