Using 100 public school students consecutively referred for learning difficulties, their mean PPVT IQ (97.75) was found to be consistently and significantly higher than WISC Full Scale IQ (89.65), Verbal IQ (88.68), and Performance IQ (92.73). Correlations between the PPVT IQ and the WISC Full Scale, Verbal, and Performance IQs were .70, .69, and .54, respectively. A tabular summary of previous studies comparing PPVT and WISC IQs is included. 相似文献

I describe an effort to cultivate mind and deepen relatedness in patients who exhibit rudimentary thought and constricted forms of object contact, due to the effects of certain neglect or serious disturbance. Some of these patients require the analyst to serve as a catalyst, who takes proactive steps to summon a psychic realm to the patient’s experience and to forge components of the dyadic bonds that promote such function. The insights of the object relations tradition into foreclosed development are noted. I argue that such insights can be optimally applied with the benefit of the relational school’s emphasis on forms of dyadic engagement and use of the analyst’s subjectivity. In some cases of neglect, and others in which serious developmental challenge is the result of disturbance, priority is placed on the patient’s growth. Similarly, in my case illustration, my goal in using my subjectivity, as a catalyst, is for my patient to take his own emerging mind and psychic self with interest. 相似文献

An assumption made in this paper and explored for its clinical implications is that an act of chronic drug use often marks or serves to implement an underlying omnipotent self-state. Psychoanalytic work with substance users, as compared with other approaches, trains attention on these omnipotent states and makes use of the transferential exchange as a therapeutic tool. States of omnipotence are particularly examined here in the context of recent attention to dissociation as an organizing force in the personality, and in the configuration of the transference—countertransference of the treatment relationship. A case illustration is used to apply current thinking on dissociative and projective processes, and their role in enactment in the therapeutic exchange, to illuminate the frequent interplay of omnipotence and helplessness in analytic work with substance-using and other patients. 相似文献

National norms for disadvantaged children are reported along with correlations of these measures with standardized achievement tests. 相似文献

AbstractIn this paper, I examine global public reason as a method of justifying a global state. Ultimately, I conclude that global public reason fails to justify a global state. This is the case, because global public reason faces an unwinnable dilemma. The global public reason theorist must endorse either a hypothetical theory of consent or an actual theory of consent; if she endorses a theory of hypothetical consent, then she fails to justify her principles; and if she endorses a theory of actual consent, her theory will lead to a highly unstable political system. On either side of the dilemma, global public reason faces untenable implications. Although similar criticisms have been advanced against domestic public reason, my argument is not repeating points made before me. My argument is new, in that it raises these objections specifically against global public reason, and in that it shows how, due to increased diversity of belief in the global arena, these problems are more pressing for global public reason than they are for domestic public reason. 相似文献
