Interaction with others over objects has until recently been thought lacking in the social play of non-human great apes, in
contrast to that of children; even now, only bonobos have been observed to engage in social play involving objects. Human
children’s triadic interactions with objects involve joint attention, showing and giving, communication that maintains interaction,
and sharing of emotions and experiences. We question assertions that chimpanzees, and non-human great apes in general, lack
the key characteristics of children’s collaborative play. Here, we show that zoo gorillas play games that are both triadic
and collaborative. These games were videotaped at the San Francisco Zoo in five different years and involved five different
pairings of gorillas. The context was in most cases playfully competitive, involving objects such as balls, bags and leather
pieces as foci of joint attention; the ostensible goal in most games was to gain or keep possession of a particular object.
In some episodes, roles as possessor or pursuer of an object were exchanged many times; in others, one gorilla retained possession
of an object but encouraged pursuit from a partner. Through gaze and gesture, gorillas invited others to: share interest in
and attention to objects; share patterns of play; and re-engage after breaks in play. Sometimes, gorillas would assist others
in their efforts to engage in collaborative play: older gorillas encouraged younger partners by ‘self-handicapping’ their
own actions. Collaborative games may occur later in the ontogeny of gorillas than in humans, and depend on the challenges

The primary purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between psychological need satisfaction (competence, autonomy, and relatedness), exercise regulations, and motivational consequences proposed by Self‐Determination Theory (SDT; Deci & Ryan, 1985; Ryan & Deci, 2000). The secondary purpose was to explore changes in these constructs over the course of a 12‐week prescribed exercise program. Results indicated competence and autonomy were positively correlated with more self‐determined exercise regulations, which in turn were more positively related to exercise behavior, attitudes, and physical fitness. Multiple regression analyses revealed that exercise behavior mediated the relationship between self‐determined motives and physical fitness, and both identified and intrinsic exercise regulations contributed significantly to the prediction of attitudes. Paired‐sample t tests supported modest to large changes in need satisfaction constructs, as well as identified and intrinsic regulations over the 12‐week exercise program. These results suggest that SDT is a useful framework for studying motivational issues in the exercise domain. 相似文献

Our objective is to establish the prevalence and overlap among different forms of violence and the importance of known correlates of aggression in Bogotá, Colombia. Our method is a cross‐sectional household survey of violence amongst a random sample (n=3007) of the general population between the ages of 15 and 60. In this population the more severe forms of aggression tend to appear concurrently with the less severe forms. Multivariate analyses of the data show that a family history of crime, physical aggression among family members, lack of clarity of parental norms, beliefs justifying the use of violence, and alcohol consumption are the main correlates of verbal and physical aggression independent of age, gender and social class. Although the findings are limited by the cross‐sectional design, exclusion of the institutionalized population, and reliance on retrospective self‐reports, they provide population‐based estimates of different forms of aggression and support for known correlates of aggression in a Latin American context. A training need to help core trainees prepare for the psychotherapy long case was identified. We prepared and showed a training DVD to all core psychiatric trainees at South West London and St Georges Mental Health NHS trust. A questionnaire was designed to receive feedback from trainees. A total of 26 trainees participated. All trainees found the DVD informative. Most trainees found the DVD helpful in reducing their anxieties prior to taking on a long case. All trainees found the DVD accurately reflected their experience of psychotherapy and supervision. Using simulated and technology-aided learning material is a useful and economical way of introducing psychotherapy skills to core psychiatry trainees before the clinical supervised experience of a long case. 相似文献
