Philosophers have long struggled with questions about the nature of personal identity and of the self, with some viewing the self as a transcendent entity, and others arguing that the self is a constructed fiction. An approach based in cognitive-affective neuroscience emphasizes that self-related structures and processes are based in the brain-mind, and emerge within the social processes of human development. Alterations in such structures and processes are present in a wide range of neurological and psychiatric disorders, and neuropsychiatric lesion and functional brain imaging studies have led to more detailed awareness of the precise neuronal circuitry underlying self-representations. A cognitive-affective neuroscience approach provides a conceptual basis from which clinical research can further explore how best to assess and treat a wide range of disruptions to the self. 相似文献

People often do not realize they are being influenced by an incidental emotional state. As a result, decisions based on a fleeting incidental emotion can become the basis for future decisions and hence outlive the original cause for the behavior (i.e., the emotion itself). Using a sequence of ultimatum and dictator games, we provide empirical evidence for the enduring impact of transient emotions on economic decision making. In recent years, some people have held that a radical relativist position is defensible in some philosophically interesting
cases, including future contingents, predicates of personal taste, evaluative predicates in general, epistemic modals, and
knowledge attributions. The position is frequently characterized as denying that utterance-truth is absolute. I argue that
this characterization is inappropriate, as it requires a metaphysical substantive contention with which moderate views as

We tested the combined effects of goal type and cognitive ability on task performance using a moderately complex task. Business
students (N = 105) worked on a 24 min class scheduling task. The results showed that participants with higher cognitive ability benefited
more from the setting of a performance goal as opposed to a learning goal. The reverse pattern was true for participants with
lower cognitive ability. Performance goals were more effective for participants with higher cognitive ability vis-à-vis those
with lower cognitive ability. The correlation between goal commitment and performance was positive and significant as was
