In this article the authors offer examples of counseling agency consultation with faculty individuals and groups. Several questions were investigated regarding the placement rates of counseled and uncounseled employment security applicants. A random sample of 221 inactive application cards was drawn from 12 employment security district offices. Comparisons were made between the counseled and uncounseled groups. It was found that counseled applicants typically had more employability barriers than did those who had not received counseling. Regardless of that fact, the placement rate of counseled applicants was almost twice that of the uncounseled. In general, as the number of counseling interviews increased there was a corresponding increase in the placement rate. This relationship was consistent with a variety of applicant groups. 相似文献

Behavioral consultation with a counselor was used in this study to help an English teacher in an inner-city high school deal with his students' “lackadaisical” attitude toward the completion of assignments. Recently, occupational researchers have emphasized the need to examine both work and leisure activities as complementary components for total individual self-fulfillment. This research examined the complementary relationships between vocational and avocational pursuits in a study of a single occupation. Since the occupation was service and community based and emphasized social responsibility and relating to others, these were the primary vocational constructs examined. Abstract.— How is locomotion controlled? What information is necessary and how is it used? It is first of all argued that the classical twofold division of information into ex-teroceptive and proprioceptive is inadequate and confusing, that three fundamental types of information need to be distinguished and that the information is used in a continual process of formulating locomotor programs, monitoring their execution and adjusting them. The paper goes on to show (1) how steering could be controlled on the basis of the “locomotor flow line” in the optic array, which specifies the potential future course, whether curved or straight, and (2) how stopping for an obstacle could be controlled simply on the basis of the information in the optic array about the time-to-collision and its rate of change. The problems inherent in pedestrian locomotion of controlling footing and balance are discussed and an investigation of visual locomotor programming in the long jump reported. 相似文献
