A significant challenge faces any ethic that endorses the view that divine commands are sufficient to impose moral obligations; in this paper, I focus on Kierkegaard's ethic, in particular. The challenge to be addressed is the “modernized” problem of Abraham, popularized especially by Fear and Trembling: the dilemma that an agent faces when a being claiming to be God issues a command to the agent that, by the agent's own lights, seems not to be the kind of command that a loving God would issue. Against a solution to this problem proposed by C. Stephen Evans in Kierkegaard's Ethic of Love, I argue that Kierkegaard regards this scenario as never actually resulting in a fully responsible agent's performance of some horrendous action on account of her non‐culpable misinterpretation of God's will and/or failure to discern correctly whether a perceived moral imperative truly is divine in origin. 相似文献

Little is known about the food preferences of children with a feeding disorder and medical diagnoses. Therefore, we conducted repeated paired-stimulus-preference assessments with foods to which we either exposed or did not expose 3 children with a feeding disorder and medical diagnoses during clinical treatment. Responding was relatively equivalent for exposure and nonexposure foods throughout the preference assessments, suggesting that preferences for foods did not change due to exposure during treatment. 相似文献

In a case study of the growth of cognitive science, we analyzed the activities of the Cognitive Science Society with a particular emphasis on the multidisciplinary nature of the field. Analyses of departmental affiliations, training back-grounds, research methodology, and paper citations suggest that the journal Cognitive Science and the Annual Meeting of the Cognitive Science Society are dominated by cognitive psychology and computer science, rather than being an equal division among the constituent disciplines of cognitive science. However, at many levels, a growing percentage of work was found to involve a conjunction of multiple disciplines, such that approximately 30–50% of recent work in the Cognitive Science Society is multidisciplinary. In a questionnaire study of cognitive scientists involved in collaborative research, multidisciplinarity was found to shape the research process and affect the factors associated with successful research. 相似文献

I discuss an objection by Margaret Wilson against Robert Brandom's interpretation of Leibniz's account of perceptual distinctness. According to Brandom, Leibniz holds that (i) the relative distinctness of a perception is a function of its inferentially articulated content and (ii) apperception, or awareness, is explicable in terms of degrees of perceptual distinctness. Wilson alleges that Brandom confuses ‘external deducibility’ from a perceptual state of a monad to the existence of properties in the world, with ‘internally accessible content’ for the monad in that state. Research examining the links between disorganized attachment and clinical symptoms largely has neglected middle childhood
due to lack of available measurement tools. The few studies that have examined these links in other developmental phases have
found higher clinical symptoms in disorganized individuals. Our study extended this research by using a recently-developed
attachment interview measure ideally suited to evaluate disorganized attachment in middle childhood. We examined concurrent
associations among disorganized attachment in 8–12 year old children and symptoms of psychopathology theoretically hypothesized
for their links with disorganized attachment. Using child- and parent-reports, we measured symptoms of depression, social
anxiety, shyness, inattention, and thought problems. During our two-session study, 97 children completed the Child Attachment
Interview, and children and parents completed clinical questionnaires. Results suggested that disorganized attachment was
associated with higher child reports of depressive symptoms and shyness, and with parent-reports of social anxiety, inattention,
and thought problems, and that disorganized children are more likely to have symptoms that meet clinical criteria. Implications
for the relation of attachment to psychopathology are discussed. 相似文献

Community indicator projects have the potential to deliver new knowledge about the quality of life in local communities and
drive actions to improve them (Phillips 2003; Holden Social Indicators Research 92:429–448, 2009; Memon and Johnstone 2008). However, the connection between the information produced by community indicator projects and the actions taken to improve
conditions in communities remains under-researched (Holden Social Indicators Research 92:429–448, 2009; Hezri and Dovers Ecological Economics 60:86–99, 2006). This is because community indicator projects have mainly been conceptualized as producing information for action rather
than as part of an action process (Memon and Johnstone 2008). This paper provides a case study of a community indicator project with an explicit plan to move beyond the data and into
action. A review of one of the oldest community indicator projects in the United States, the Santa Cruz County Community Assessment
Project (CAP) demonstrates how an action oriented community improvement cycle has contributed to measurable improvements for
children and youth in one California County. The paper identifies key elements that were important for turning CAP data into
local actions and concludes with lessons for community indicator practitioners and questions for future research. 相似文献
