Meta‐analytic path analysis was utilised to test an integrative model linking perceived safety climate to hypothesized organisational antecedents and individual outcomes. Psychological climate, especially the perception of organisational attributes, was found to be significantly associated with safety climate (both constructs measured at the individual level). A partial mediation model was supported. Within this model, the relationship between safety climate and safety behaviour was partially mediated by work‐related attitudes (organisational commitment and job satisfaction), and the relationship between safety climate and occupational accidents was partially mediated by both safety behaviour and general health. Safety climate acted as a partial mediator in the relationship between psychological climate and safety behaviour, with direct effects from climate perceptions relating to the leader and organisational processes. Avenues for further research and practical implications are discussed. 相似文献
Based on her anthropological research, Nichter (2000) concluded that it is normative for many American girls to engage in body self-disparagement in the form of “fat talk.” The purpose of the present two studies was to develop a quantitative measure of fat talk. A series of 17 scenarios were created in which “Naomi” is talking with a female friend(s) and there is an expression of fat talk. College women respondents rated the frequency with which they would behave in a similar way as the women in each scenario. A nine-item one-factor scale was determined through principal components analysis and its scores yielded evidence of internal consistency reliability, test–retest reliability over a five-week time period, construct validity, discriminant validity, and incremental validity in that it predicted unique variance in body shame and eating disorder symptoms above and beyond other measures of self-objectification. 相似文献
Important contributors to quality of life (QOL), such as psychosocial factors, have received limited exploration in veteran populations, in contrast to a significant amount of research focused on health-related quality of life (HRQL). This study investigated QOL and HRQL amongst Gulf War veterans compared with an era-military comparison group 20 years after the 1990/91 Gulf War, and whether psychiatric status over time and psychiatric comorbidities predicted QOL and HRQL. We then investigated which of a range of psychological health, physical health and social factors contribute greatest to QOL. Psychological interviews and postal questionnaires were administered to a cohort of Gulf War veterans and a military-era comparison group in 2000–02 and 2011–12. Gulf War veterans had poorer QOL and HRQL compared with a military comparison group, but the pattern of factors that influenced QOL was the same for both groups. Poorer QOL and HRQL were significantly associated with more recent and persistent psychiatric morbidity over time. Further analyses showed that affective disorders, followed by anxiety disorders had the largest impact on QOL and HRQL, and that QOL and HRQL were negatively affected by each additional psychiatric diagnosis. The importance of these findings was highlighted in a structural equation model that revealed psychological health contributed most to QOL, social support contributed a moderate amount, but physical health contributed only a very small amount. QOL in veterans is an important issue even many years after deployment and psychological health plays a predominant role in QOL.
At mid-career as a tenured professor of modern literature, I finally found cybernetics. It was a slow-rolling revelation, a protracted unraveling, for it took me quite a while to unwrap cybernetics’ conceptual core from out of the layers of adjacent or covering discourses that had obscured or forgotten their own origins in the fecundity of cybernetic ideas. Heinz von Foerster’s relation to the Whole Earth Catalog and the systems counterculture around CoEvolution Quarterly were instrumental for my subsequent cybernetic development toward the work of Maturana, Varela, and Luhmann on the one hand, and Lovelock and Margulis on the other. 相似文献
Fabry disease is a multi-systemic X-linked genetic disorder which has progressive and deadly consequences for those it afflicts.
Fabry disease symptoms are widely recognized as a substantive burden for affected males. In comparison, female heterozygotes
have traditionally been viewed as relatively symptom-free, though a debate continues about whether and how much they suffer
with the disease. Previous research suggests that females with Fabry disease may be triply disadvantaged in healthcare settings
owing to: (1) disease rarity, (2) devalued carrier status, and (3) gender. The combined effects of these three factors suggest
that female heterozygotes may suffer substantially with Fabry disease symptoms. A qualitative analysis of a brief disease-specific
questionnaire provides supportive evidence. The female Fabry disease participants described experiencing significant symptoms
that interfered with their lives. They also described unsatisfying experiences with healthcare professionals related to disease
rarity, carrier status, and gender. The results of this study corroborate the suggestion that this triple disadvantage exists
and may preclude appropriate management and treatment of females with Fabry disease. The role of healthcare professionals,
including genetic counselors, in remedying this disadvantage is reviewed. 相似文献
Evidence indicates that brain endocannabinoids are involved in memory processing. However, the participation of CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors in recognition memory has not been yet conclusively determined. Therefore, we evaluated the effect of the posttraining activation of hippocampal cannabinoid receptors on the consolidation of object recognition memory. Rats with infusion cannulae stereotaxically aimed to the CA1 region of the dorsal hippocampus were trained in an object recognition learning task involving exposure to two different stimulus objects. Memory retention was assessed at different times after training. In the test sessions, one of the objects presented during training was replaced by a novel one. When infused in the CA1 region immediately after training, the non-selective cannabinoid receptor agonist WIN-55,212-2 and the endocannabinoid membrane transporter inhibitor VDM-11 blocked long-term memory retention in a dose-dependent manner without affecting short-term memory, exploratory behavior, anxiety state or the functionality of the hippocampus. The amnesic effect of WIN-55,212-2 and VDM-11 was not due to state-dependency and was completely reversed by co-infusion of the CB1 receptor antagonist AM-251 and mimicked by the CB1 receptor agonist ACEA but not by the CB2 receptor agonists JWH-015 and palmitoylethanolamide. Our data indicate that activation of hippocampal CB1 receptors early after training hampers consolidation of object recognition memory. 相似文献
The aim of this study was to investigate the widely held, but largely untested, view that implicit memory (repetition priming) reflects an automatic form of retrieval. Specifically, in Experiment 1 we explored whether a secondary task (syllable monitoring), performed during retrieval, would disrupt performance on explicit (cued recall) and implicit (stem completion) memory tasks equally. Surprisingly, despite substantial memory and secondary costs to cued recall when performed with a syllable-monitoring task, the same manipulation had no effect on stem completion priming or on secondary task performance. In Experiment 2 we demonstrated that even when using a particularly demanding version of the stem completion task that incurred secondary task costs, the corresponding disruption to implicit memory performance was minimal. Collectively, the results are consistent with the view that implicit memory retrieval requires little or no processing capacity and is not seemingly susceptible to the effects of dividing attention at retrieval. 相似文献
