Routines help individuals save decision effort and protect them from overreacting to volatile environments. Yet routines become dysfunctional if the environment changes fundamentally. Whether the environment has truly changed is often not easy to tell. We experimentally study adaptation to a change in a previously stable environment. Participants have to choose between one of the four decks of cards. Each deck represents a lottery, with a distribution of gains and losses initially unknown to participants. In the learning phase of the experiment, participants acquire the routine to choose the most attractive deck. Unbeknownst to participants, after an interruption, the lotteries represented by the competing decks are changed. We study how participants react to this change. We manipulate whether participants have access to choices by a confederate who most of the time makes the normative choice. In baseline condition, they never do. In the treatments, access is provided either during the learning phase, during the test phase, or during both phases. Participants are most likely to realize that the world has changed if they had access to the confederate's choices in both phases. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

It has been shown that the UCLA home visiting/mother–infant group intervention made a significant positive impact during the child's first 2 years of life on two indices of the mother's support and on three areas of mother–child and child development: (1) The mother's responsiveness to the needs of her child and the related development of his or her security of attachment; (2) the mother's encouragement of her child's autonomy and the related development of his or her autonomy; and (3) the mother's encouragement of her child's task involvement and the related development of his or her task orientation. By child age 2 years, the mothers experiencing the intervention, in comparison with those that did not, also used verbally persuasive as opposed to coercive intrusive methods of control and their children responded more positively to these controls. Mothers who did not experience the help of the intervention had significantly more difficulty controlling their child if it was a boy as opposed to a girl. They used the least appropriate methods of control, and the boys responded more negatively to these controls. The nature of the development of the mother's use of appropriate controls and the child's response to that control was elucidated by determining on the total sample where 12‐month antecedents influenced the indices of control either independently of or in interaction with the intervention status. The child's endurance in the test situation was an independent predictor of mother‐appropriate control and the child's positive response to that control, while the absence of maternal intrusiveness further enhanced the impact of the intervention on that control. ©2001 Michigan Association for Infant Mental Health. 相似文献

The concept of the ‘well-being of the child’ (like the ‘child’s welfare’ and ‘best interests of the child’) has remained underdetermined in legal and ethical texts on the needs and rights of children. As a hypothetical construct that draws attention to the child’s long-term welfare, the well-being of the child is a broader concept than autonomy and happiness. This paper clarifies some conceptual issues of the well-being of the child from a philosophical point of view. The main question is how well-being could in practice acquire a concrete meaning and content for a particular issue or situation. A phenomenological-hermeneutic research perspective will be outlined that allows the child’s well-being to be elucidated and specified as an anthropological and ethical idea. It is based on a contextual understanding of generative relationships, a combination of the theory and practice of making sense, here described as ‘generative insight’, which could provide ethical guidance for decision making in families, legal practice, medicine or biomedical research. 相似文献

Background
Starting from Klaus Grawe’s draft of a general psychotherapy, the patient’s resources and resource-activating interventions have received increasing attention in empirical research.Objective
The effectiveness of standardized writing instructions for the activation of patients’ resources before participating in internet chat aftercare groups for psychosomatic patients was examined.Method
In a randomized controlled trial writing instruction for the activation of patients’ resources was given in 52 out of 102 internet chat aftercare sessions. The effects of this minimal intervention on the patients’ activity and the number of positive emotion words expressed during the chat session were examined. Additionally, the effects on patients’ self-esteem, attachment, orientation, control and well-being after the group sessions were assessed.Results
Patients reported higher levels of self-esteem, orientation, control and well-being after chat sessions with a resource-activating intervention. No differences between intervention and control groups were detected on the text-based variables activity and number of positive emotion words.Conclusions
Standardized minimal interventions for the activation of patients’ resources seem to be promising for enhancing the effectiveness of therapeutic Internet chat groups. 相似文献287.

The Federal Constitutional Court is searching for a legal instrument with which it can enforce the entitlement to freedom of those sentenced to lengthy prison terms when leniency is not shown due to the passivity of correctional facilities. Increasingly – and in contrast to the 1990s – judicial ministries urge correctional facilities to be conservative with respect to decisions on privileges due to the prioritization of aspects of public security (trial vs. expectation clauses). The courts responsible for the execution of civil judgment need successful experiences in the liberalization of the enforcement of sentences in order to give a positive legal prognosis. With its most recent decision, the Federal Constitutional Court affirmed its determination to aid the inmates’ entitlement to freedom if the penal system does not relax sentences. From a criminological perspective, it is already the case that the relevance of leniency tests for the creation of prognoses is questioned. A sentence enforcement chamber of the regional court in Aachen recently ordered the release of a prisoner after 35 years without any leniencies. Specialists’ appraisals were given priority over the judicial correctional facility’s judgment. Under consideration of the advantages and disadvantages of denied privileges the paper calls for stronger constitutional access for the courts responsible for the enforcement of sentences. 相似文献

Suicide prevention especially with psychiatric inpatients is traditionally a very important aspect of psychiatric treatment. During the 1970s and 1980s there was a noticeable increase in so-called hospital suicides in Germany, especially suicides of schizophrenic inpatients. The number of psychiatric inpatient suicides has currently decreased again and a shift to more depressive suicides has also been observed. One aspect of metacognition is the monitoring of memory or comprehension measured with retrospective confidence judgments
after test taking. The research questions of the present study were whether different measures for the accuracy of such confidence
judgments are stable over learning time, whether they generalize over two different tests, and whether they predict the learning
outcome. In order to answer these questions, a study was conducted in which university students (N = 113) learned about the basic concepts of operant conditioning for 30 min. Knowledge tests with confidence judgments presented
after each item were obtained before learning, after 10 min, and at the end of the learning session. Bias and absolute bias
were calculated as absolute measures of accuracy, and gamma, Pearson’s r, andd
a were calculated as relative measures of accuracy. The results showed that the absolute measures were stable, but that the
relative measures were not. Furthermore, absolute bias, gamma, and Pearson’s r obtained 10 min after the beginning of the
learning process predicted the learning outcome. The results are discussed with regard to research on different measures of
