A randomized controlled trial of Student Success Skills (SSS) was conducted to determine the effect of the classroom program on Grade 5 students’ (N = 4,305) standardized test scores and proximal socioemotional variables associated with academic achievement. The SSS program was delivered by school counselors and reinforced through cuing and coaching by classroom teachers, which reflects the advocating student‐within‐environment approach to school counseling (Lemberger‐Truelove & Bowers, 2018). Hierarchical linear modeling analyses revealed the SSS program affected the treatment students’ behavioral engagement, disruption, assertion, cooperation, and test anxiety but did not result in a statistically significant difference on the participants’ reading and mathematics test scores. This study used an actor–partner interdependence model to assess the relationship between differentiation of self and family functioning in a sample of 118 heterosexual Spanish couples, with additional attention to family structural correlates, including age of the children, number of children in the household, and educational level. Results showed a significant actor effect, with greater differentiation of self levels predicting better family functioning within individuals. Maladaptive behaviors, such as aggressive and disruptive behaviors, are a significant risk factor for maintaining community
placement by individuals with intellectual disabilities. When experienced researchers provide training to individuals with
intellectual disabilities on a mindfulness-based strategy, Meditation on the Soles of the Feet, the individuals are able to effectively self-manage their maladaptive behaviors. We investigated whether similar effectiveness
would be found if community-based therapists provided the training to similar individuals living in the community. Three adults
with mild intellectual disabilities and mental illness living in the community were taught by a community-based therapist
to use this strategy to control maladaptive behaviors that included verbal aggression, disruptive behavior and physical aggression.
They were taught to shift the focus of their attention from the negative emotions that triggered their maladaptive behavior
to a neutral stimulus, the soles of their feet. All three individuals were able to reduce their maladaptive behaviors to near-zero
levels and maintain their community placement that they had been at risk for losing, due to their maladaptive behavior. Subjective
measures of various psychological symptoms showed a reduction in two of the individuals. Our study suggests that the demonstrated
effectiveness of Meditation on the Soles of the Feet can be achieved by a community-based therapist. 相似文献

ABSTRACT One hundred twenty-nine undergraduate students were assessed for suicidal preoccupation, using the Alabama Adolescent Health Survey (AAHS) and selected cards from the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT). They were also administered the Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (MPS) to assess perfectionistic tendencies. Objective scoring of the TAT was found to be highly reliable. Canonical correlational analyses were nonsignificant for a relationship between perfectionism and suicidal themes on the TAT. However, the more direct questions of the AAHS relating to suicide were significantly related to perfectionism. Results suggest that passive perfectionists who procrastinate out of fear of making mistakes are more likely to be preoccupied with suicide, unlike perfectionists whose strivings produce achievement. High personal standards and parental expectations do not appear related to suicidal preoccupations. 相似文献

This study was designed to investigate the relative effectiveness of the various components of a program designed to help women attain orgasm for the first time. The Ss were six couples with the presenting complaint of primary orgastic dysfunction. Treatment consisted of six phases. Repeated measurements on a number of variables were collected at the end of each phase. The onset of the treatment was staggered in a non-concurrent multiple-baseline across-individuals design. All the women who attained an orgasm, did so with the use of a vibrator in the Partner-involvement with No Intercourse phase. The question of whether the use of a vibrator without the other phases of the program would be sufficient for orgasm to occur is discussed. Significant improvement in non-targeted behavior was observed in all Ss: these included: degree of sexual satisfaction; level of sexual arousal; degree of sexual comfort; extent of sexual knowledge; frequency of sexual activity and self-concept. Factors contributing to program effectiveness and the effect of the program on marital adjustment are discussed. 相似文献
