Fatigue is a commonly reported sequela following an acquired brain injury (ABI), and can have a negative impact on many areas of a child’s life. However, there is minimal research that focuses on fatigue specifically, and so factors such as its occurrence, duration, and impact on functioning remain uncertain. This systematic review aims to provide a comprehensive summary of the research to date, bringing together a number of studies with a focus on paediatric ABI and fatigue. Terms were searched in relevant databases (PsycInfo, Medline, CINAHL), and articles were included or excluded based on specified criteria. Of the 1177 papers identified in the original search, a total of 9 papers met inclusion criteria, and were categorised as traumatic brain injury (TBI; n?=?4), meningitis and meningococcal disease (n?=?2), brain tumours (n?=?2), and mixed ABI group (n?=?1). Key findings suggest that fatigue is a problem encountered by a significant proportion of patients in all the studies reviewed, and often occurred regardless of the cause; fatigue was also associated with poor academic achievement, limited physical activity, and social and emotional problems. Injuries of greater severity were associated with higher levels of fatigue and worse outcomes. Several management options were suggested, though their efficacy was not reported. Future research is required with a suggested focus on using multiple time points to better understand the trajectories of fatigue following childhood ABI, and to build an evidence base to determine which management options are most suitable. 相似文献

This paper reports new evidence on students’ evaluation of a first-year induction experience programme and examines the relationship between gender and perceptions. The programme was provided to 610 business studies students at the University of Granada (Spain). The programme includes individual and group sessions providing psychosocial and instrumental support. Gender differences were investigated using nonparametric techniques. Structural equation models were used to test relationships between variables of overall satisfaction with the programme and its activities and the moderating effects of gender. The results obtained show that gender significantly influences enrolment and satisfaction with the programme and with the individual sessions. Satisfaction with group and individual activities is directly related to overall satisfaction with the programme. Gender has a moderating effect on the relation of overall satisfaction with individual sessions. 相似文献

Finding a way to come to terms with the disvalues in the evolutionary world is a particular challenge in the light of Neo‐Darwinian theories. In this article I trace the shift in Christopher Southgate's work from a focus on theodicy to a theologian of glory. I am critical of his rejection of the tradition of the Fall, his incorporation of disvalues into the work of divine Glory, and the specific theological weight given to scientific content. I offer a critique of Holmes Rolston III's approach to the valuation of nature that I believe has influenced Southgate's theology. Constructively, I offer an alternative that seeks to recover an understanding of the origin of evil and the Adamic event that draws on the work of Paul Ricoeur. I also draw on the work of anthropologist Tim Ingold for an alternative philosophical approach to evolution which opens up a space for a recovery of the concepts of creaturely Sophia and shadow Sophia in the work of Sergius Bulgakov. 相似文献

This paper introduces a new, expanded range of relevant cognitive psychological research on collaborative recall and social
memory to the philosophical debate on extended and distributed cognition. We start by examining the case for extended cognition
based on the complementarity of inner and outer resources, by which neural, bodily, social, and environmental resources with
disparate but complementary properties are integrated into hybrid cognitive systems, transforming or augmenting the nature
of remembering or decision-making. Adams and Aizawa, noting this distinctive complementarity argument, say that they agree
with it completely: but they describe it as “a non-revolutionary approach” which leaves “the cognitive psychology of memory
as the study of processes that take place, essentially without exception, within nervous systems.” In response, we carve out,
on distinct conceptual and empirical grounds, a rich middle ground between internalist forms of cognitivism and radical anti-cognitivism.
Drawing both on extended cognition literature and on Sterelny’s account of the “scaffolded mind” (this issue), we develop
a multidimensional framework for understanding varying relations between agents and external resources, both technological
and social. On this basis we argue that, independent of any more “revolutionary” metaphysical claims about the partial constitution
of cognitive processes by external resources, a thesis of scaffolded or distributed cognition can substantially influence
or transform explanatory practice in cognitive science. Critics also cite various empirical results as evidence against the
idea that remembering can extend beyond skull and skin. We respond with a more principled, representative survey of the scientific
psychology of memory, focussing in particular on robust recent empirical traditions for the study of collaborative recall
and transactive social memory. We describe our own empirical research on socially distributed remembering, aimed at identifying
conditions for mnemonic emergence in collaborative groups. Philosophical debates about extended, embedded, and distributed
cognition can thus make richer, mutually beneficial contact with independently motivated research programs in the cognitive
