Borderline patients present major treatment difficulties in almost every treatment modality. The reason borderlines drop out or fail to benefit from therapy are obscure. Some findings points to the important factor of therapist and patient fit. In the present study, two therapy groups with borderline patients were followed for 20 months. In the study, the therapists were found to individualize the process and their interventions were found to be unevenly distributed among future remainers and dropouts especially during periods of group instability. The results were interpreted along with the Pygmalion hypothesis, that is, that the fit and the therapists' perceived trustworthiness were crucial factors for group psychotherapy outcome for borderline patients. 相似文献

In a cross-sectional study of 83 unmedicated boys, 6 to 16 years of age (M = 10.6, SD = 2.1), attending public (N = 48) and therapeutic schools for behaviorally disturbed children (N = 35), we examined relations of externalizing psychopathology to age-dependent change in performance on cognitive and motivational dimensions of impulse control assessed by laboratory tasks. When we controlled for internalizing symptoms and IQ or school achievement, all children showed improving competence with increasing age on both dimensions over the age range of the sample. Children with externalizing problems performed more poorly on both dimensions at all ages than children without such problems. Comparing age-dependent competence for the two groups, a model of convergent maturation in cognitive aspects of impulse control, and a model depicting a stable deficit in motivational aspects of impulse control in those children with externalizing behavior problems, relative to those without such problems, emerged. This paper examines the relationships between insurance coverage, need, and mental health services in a community-based sample of 1,015 youths who were 9, 11, and 13 years old at the beginning of the study. They were followed over a two-year period. A strong measure of need based on a standardized diagnostic interview was available and repeated over three annual waves. Data on service use was collected quarterly across two years. Major findings included: (a) high need (serious emotional disturbance [SED]) was strongly related to use of any mental health services; (b) services use was much more likely to occur with public (Medicaid) insurance coverage than either private or no insurance; (c) considerable unmet need was observed even for youths with SED; (d) school-based mental health services potentially substituted for professional mental health services; and (e) there was little unnecessary use of mental health services in the low need group. The major policy implication of these findings is that the regulation of insurance benefits should be based on level of need, rather than on arbitrary limits which are likely to either reduce the probability of or appropriate amount of care for youths who most need mental health services. 相似文献

The present study compared the personality characteristics assessed in life stories of 40 highly generative adults to those
in the life stories of a contrasting sample of 30 less generative adults. Life-story interviews of all 70 subjects were rated
with the California Adult Q-Sort (CAQ; Block, 1961). The results were compared to the “expert” generativity CAQ profile compiled
by Peterson and Klohnen (1995). The results indicated that highly generative adults were more likely to construct life stories
indicative of such positive generativity characteristics as “behaves in a giving way toward others” and “is turned to for
advice and reassurance” compared to adults low in generativity. Furthermore, the highly generative adults related life-story
accounts in which negative generativity qualities such as “has hostility toward others” and “is self-indulgent” were more
uncharacteristic than those expressed in the low-generativity adults' stories. The study adds to a growing empirical literature
on the meaning and manifestations of generativity in adult lives and suggests that the CAQ is a useful tool for uncovering
personality characteristics expressed in the life-story accounts generated by adults. 相似文献

采用陌生情境法等实验方法对52名2岁儿童社会性行为进行研究,同时对其父母用问卷了解儿童问题行为和各种家庭因素资料。研究结果显示我国2岁儿童:(1)安全型依恋比例较高,A型依恋无回避行为;(2)抗挫折和抗诱惑行为较差;(3)安全型依恋问题行为较少,非安全型依恋问题行为较多;(4)各行为间有显著相关;(5)儿童社会性行为与家庭背景、夫妻关系无显著相关,与家庭氛围,亲子关系及父母教养观念有显著相关。 相似文献
