Past research has revealed a number of determinants of selection decisions for college students. Given the large number of students graduating with MBA degrees and firms recruiting and hiring applicants with such degrees, the purpose of this study was to examine how MBA students would rate certain job factors. This study reports students' ratings of 23 factors potentially present in workplaces. The most and least important factors are discussed. In addition, implications for organizational recruiting practices and for on-campus career counselors are presented. 相似文献

The primary goal of this study was to examine whether changes in the temporal distance of a moral dilemma affect how it is perceived and subsequently resolved. Based on Construal Level Theory ( Trope & Liberman, 2003 ), it was predicted that the relative weight of abstract justice features should increase and the relative weight of concrete care features should decrease with temporal distance. The results showed that females became increasingly justice-oriented with greater temporal distance. However, this was not the case for males who were unaffected by temporal distance. This interaction was conceptually replicated in a follow-up experiment in which abstraction was manipulated directly by a mindset manipulation. The present results suggest that temporal distance is a contextual factor that can alter the extent to which moral judgments and reasoning are based on justice and care, although this effect seems to be moderated by gender. 相似文献

ABSTRACT The paper is a discussion of moral responsibility and excuses in regard to psychiatric disorders involving abnormal desires (e.g. impulse control disorders such as kleptomania and pyromania, psychosexual disorders such as exhibitionism, obsessive-compulsive disorder and others). It points out problems with previous approaches to the question of whether or not to excuse persons with these disorders, and offers a new approach based on the concept of duress. There is a discussion of duress in regard to non-psychiatric cases based on the core notion of duress involving a choice between undesirables, and the paper concludes with an argument that moral blame for individuals with these sorts of disorders should often be lessened and in some cases removed entirely. 相似文献

This research project examined questions concerning the effectiveness of female managers using stereotypically masculine or feminine communication management styles. Nurses from three hospitals were surveyed on the perceptions of the communication management style of their superiors and answered self-report questions about their morale and job satisfaction. Employees of female managers who were perceived as managing in a stereotypically feminine style reported significantly greater morale and job satisfaction than did employees whose female managers were perceived as managing in a stereotypically masculine style. Three competing models of word recognition processes currently receive psycholinguistic research support: direct encoding (i.e., word recognition proceeds from graphemes); indirect encoding (i.e., word recognition proceeds from a phonemic translation of graphemes); and dual access (i.e., word recognition can proceed from either graphemes or phonemes). Resolution of the conflict between these models has been hampered by methodological problems common to research techniques in this area. The two experiments reported in this study analyzes the competing models via the SLIP technique, which avoids those methodological problems. Support is yielded for the direct encoding model.
