In the present study, we explored the linguistic nature of specific memories generated with the Autobiographical Memory Test (AMT) by developing a computerized classifier that distinguishes between specific and nonspecific memories. The AMT is regarded as one of the most important assessment tools to study memory dysfunctions (e.g., difficulty recalling the specific details of memories) in psychopathology. In Study 1, we utilized the Japanese corpus data of 12,400 cue-recalled memories tagged with observer-rated specificity. We extracted linguistic features of particular relevance to memory specificity, such as past tense, negation, and adverbial words and phrases pertaining to time and location. On the basis of these features, a support vector machine (SVM) was trained to classify the memories into specific and nonspecific categories, which achieved an area under the curve (AUC) of .92 in a performance test. In Study 2, the trained SVM was tested in terms of its robustness in classifying novel memories (n?= 8,478) that were retrieved in response to cue words that were different from those used in Study 1. The SVM showed an AUC of .89 in classifying the new memories. In Study 3, we extended the binary SVM to a five-class classification of the AMT, which achieved 64%–65% classification accuracy, against the chance level (20%) in the performance tests. Our data suggest that memory specificity can be identified with a relatively small number of words, capturing the universal linguistic features of memory specificity across memories in diverse contents. 相似文献

Multivariate stimulus-response designs can be described by a three-way array of stimuli by responses by individuals. Its underlying
structure can be represented by a network based on the Tucker2 component model in which stimulus components are connected
with response components by means of the links that differ between individuals. For each individual such links are represented
in a slice of the extended core array. For a proper understanding of these links, it is desirable that [1] the individual
core slices as well as the component matrices have simple structures and [2] the differences of core slices between individuals
are as few as possible. For attaining [1] and [2] we propose a method in which both the component matrices and the core slices
of a Tucker2 solution are transformed simultaneously in order that the component matrices match simple target matrices and
the core slices are summarized by a simple target slice. The proposed method is evaluated in a simulation study and illustrated

Leisure-time physical activity (LTPA) represents an important factor contributing to the development and management of osteoporosis yet research linking LTPA with perceived health markers has been limited in this cohort. The purpose of this study was to test the relationship between LTPA and perceived health controlling for select demographic factors and chronic conditions in people living with osteoporosis. Population-health survey data from cycle 2.2 of the Canadian Community Health Survey were used in conjunction with linear multiple regression models. Participants were 1538 (n female = 1371) adults who reported living with osteoporosis. Demographic factors, chronic conditions, and more frequent participation in LTPA accounted for variance in diverse indices representing perceived health. LTPA was the only predictor to account for unique variance in each marker of perceived health. Overall, it would appear that increased use of LTPA as an adjunct to therapeutic interventions may be a viable aid to enhancing self-perceived health amongst Canadians living with osteoporosis. 相似文献

Rubin and Thayer (Psychometrika, 47:69–76, 1982) proposed the EM algorithm for exploratory and confirmatory maximum likelihood factor analysis. In this paper, we prove the following fact: the EM algorithm always gives a proper solution with positive unique variances and factor correlations with absolute values that do not exceed one, when the covariance matrix to be analyzed and the initial matrices including unique variances and inter-factor correlations are positive definite. We further numerically demonstrate that the EM algorithm yields proper solutions for the data which lead the prevailing gradient algorithms for factor analysis to produce improper solutions. The numerical studies also show that, in real computations with limited numerical precision, Rubin and Thayer’s (Psychometrika, 47:69–76, 1982) original formulas for confirmatory factor analysis can make factor correlation matrices asymmetric, so that the EM algorithm fails to converge. However, this problem can be overcome by using an EM algorithm in which the original formulas are replaced by those guaranteeing the symmetry of factor correlation matrices, or by formulas used to prove the above fact. 相似文献

This paper reports an investigation of martensitic transformation behaviour from austenite with various grain sizes ranging from 290 nm to 34 μm in an Fe–Ni alloy fabricated by electrodeposition and subsequent heat treatment. We confirmed that martensite morphology changed from lath to thin plate with decreasing the austenite grain size. Crystallographic orientation analysis revealed that the variants of thin plate martensite formed in the austenite with relatively coarse grains achieved self-accommodation of the transformation strain inside one austenite grain. In contrast, the transformation strain accompanying martensitic transformation from the ultrafine-grained or nanocrystalline austenite was not accommodated by the martensite variants formed in one austenite grain but accommodated cooperatively by those formed in the several adjacent austenite grains. 相似文献

Seven squirrel monkeys (Saimiri sciureus) previously trained on reverse-reward tasks were presented with the original "1-versus-4" task after a 5-year interval without reverse-reward experience (Experiment 1). None of them reliably selected the smaller food array; however, at around chance level, their performance was superior to when they were first exposed to the task almost 6 years previously, suggesting some long-term memory retention. One naive monkey consistently selected the larger array, as expected. In Experiment 2, trials consisting of 1 versus 1 piece of two qualitatively different types of food were interspersed among familiar 1-versus-4 trials. None of five monkeys tested reliably selected the less-preferred food to get the more preferred food as the reward, and one monkey scored below chance. However, when one piece of low-preference food was paired with four pieces of high-preference food (Experiment 3), all four monkeys tested avoided reaching for the latter and thereby obtained it as the reward; two monkeys obtained perfect scores on these trials. These two monkeys were trained on a specific qualitative reverse-reward pairing and then again tested on new pairings (Experiment 4), but transfer was incomplete. Compound trials that pit quantity against quality in novel ways appear taxing for squirrel monkeys, despite competence in reverse-reward on both dimensions separately. 相似文献

boys and girls in the US, China, and Japan. Individual differences in children’s inhibitory control abilities, assessed using
behavioral tasks and maternal ratings, were related to child externalizing problems reported by mothers. As predicted, both
child inhibitory control and maternal harsh discipline made significant contributions to child externalizing problems in all
three countries. Across countries, child inhibitory control and maternal harsh discipline made significant independent contributions to early externalizing problems, suggesting an additive model of association. Our findings supported the cross-cultural
generalizability of child inhibitory control and parental harsh punishment as key contributors to disruptive behavior in young

Melodic expectancies among children and adults were examined. In Experiment 1, adults, 11-year-olds, and 8-year-olds rated how well individual test tones continued fragments of melodies. In Experiment 2, 11-, 8-, and 5-year-olds sang continuations to 2-tone stimuli. Response patterns were analyzed using 2 models of melodic expectancy. Despite having fewer predictor variables, the 2-factor model (E. G. Schellenberg, 1997) equaled or surpassed the implication-realization model (E. Narmour, 1990) in predictive accuracy. Listeners of all ages expected the next tone in a melody to be proximate in pitch to the tone heard most recently. Older listeners also expected reversals of pitch direction, specifically for tones that changed direction after a disruption of proximity and for tones that formed symmetric patterns. 相似文献

A new factor analysis (FA) procedure has recently been proposed which can be called matrix decomposition FA (MDFA). All FA model parameters (common and unique factors, loadings, and unique variances) are treated as fixed unknown matrices. Then, the MDFA model simply becomes a specific data matrix decomposition. The MDFA parameters are found by minimizing the discrepancy between the data and the MDFA model. Several algorithms have been developed and some properties have been discussed in the literature (notably by Stegeman in Comput Stat Data Anal 99:189–203, 2016), but, as a whole, MDFA has not been studied fully yet. A number of new properties are discovered in this paper, and some existing ones are derived more explicitly. The properties provided concern the uniqueness of results, covariances among common factors, unique factors, and residuals, and assessment of the degree of indeterminacy of common and unique factor scores.
