A review of theoretical mechanisms underlying paradoxical interventions is undertaken in an effort to classify them into three broad types: redefinition, symptom escalation and crisis induction, and redirection. A list of individual and family patient characteristics and problems particularly applicable to each type of paradoxical intervention is presented along with contraindications for use. medical condition, the treatment team faces the problem of integrating the individual focus of inpatient care with the systems focus of family therapy. In this paper we propose a family-systems model of hospitalization, the aim of which is to facilitate such integration. The model draws on current theories of anorexia nervosa, as well as general concepts from psychodynamic, developmental, and family systems theories. The major hypothesis of the model is that all members of the anorexic family are developmentally arrested in the area of separation-individuation. On this assumption, we propose that the entire treatment team (including medical professionals and therapists) needs to function as “parents” to the anorexic family in much the same way that two cotherapists become parental figures in family therapy. Specifically, the team needs to provide those parenting responses that facilitate the family's individuation process.  相似文献

The present study showed that researchers must consider underlying data structure when using hierarchical agglomerative cluster analysis to group jobs. Five cluster procedures were applied to four simulated data sets constructed to reflect common job analysis situations. The structures contained jobs varying in degree of task overlap, number of tasks performed, and relative number of people doing the jobs. Average linkage/distance was the most accurate procedure when jobs had highly positively correlated task profiles, a situation characteristic of jobs within a career family over a restricted range of levels. Average linkage/correlation was the most accurate for three other structures containing jobs whose profiles were not highly positively correlated. Such are characteristically found when analyzing (a) jobs in different functional units, (b) jobs over a wide range of hierarchical levels such as entry to advanced, and (c) jobs differing markedly in the number of incumbents.  相似文献

This study was designed to investigate the role of life events and “relationship” morality in women's decisions to enroll in college. Interviews with 38 women, ages 25–46, indicated that the timing for women returning to college was determined by the state of their relationships and life events and not solely by motivation. Enrollment was often postponed until children were “old enough,” family responsibilities were lessened, or fellow workers or employers would not be inconvenienced.  相似文献

Counselors may feel anger when clients do not behave according to their expectations of what is a good client. Client resistance, client impositions, verbal attacks on the counselor, and overinvolvement by the counselor in client dynamics seem to be relatively common occurrences that annoy counselors. Procedures used for developing a quantified job analysis system for 1710 exempt employees in a power utility firm are described. Factor analysis of these data yielded 60 job dimensions which were used to describe position and job profiles. These job profiles then served as the basic input into the development of job clusters, defined as jobs at the same organizational level which have similar job content. The usefulness of information in this format for selection, promotion, transfer, compensation and training decisions is discussed.  相似文献

Anything that is seen and/or heard by a person asks that person to make an explanation to himself about it. As we've seen so many times before, if there is no opportunity to check out the explanation, then that explanation becomes the “fact.” The “fact” may be accurate or inaccurate, but it will be the basis upon which the individual will base his actions and opinions.
