Consumption is a central component of many peoples’ lives. Providing satisfaction and happiness with the products and services
we buy and with the institutions that supply them is a fundamental part of marketing (Wilkie and Moore in J Macromark 26(2):224–232,
2006). Many studies investigate the influence of various microaspects of products/services—or of specific situational customer
characteristics—on satisfaction evaluations. This study examines how a macro-variable, Subjective Wellbeing (SWB), relates
to consumer satisfaction and illustrates the importance of SWB in studies examining determinants of the concept. Using the
idea of spill-over effects, a well established concept in psychology and marketing that has received little attention in the
area of consumer satisfaction research, it investigates whether attitudes towards marketing activities, measured by the Index
of Consumer Sentiment Towards Marketing, are influenced by SWB. The research finds that Subjective Wellbeing, as determined
by the International Wellbeing Index, contributes significantly to the explanation of consumer sentiment and makes a case
for its inclusion in more consumer satisfaction studies. 相似文献

In all, 187 participants completed a new, self-report measure of eight multiple intelligences (Haselbauer 2005), a General Knowledge test (Irwing et al. Personality and Individual Differences 30:857–871, 2001), a measure of Approaches to Learning Styles (Biggs 1987), a measure of the Big Five personality traits (Costa and McCrae 1992), as well as gave their own estimated scores on the Gardner (1999) multiple intelligences. Alpha co-efficients were modest with only three of the eight test-derived, multiple intelligence
scores being over .70. ‘Linguistic’ and Mathematical intelligence alone were correlated with General Knowledge. Five of the
eight ‘intelligences’ were correlated both with Extraversion and Openness. Regressions indicated that ‘Intrapersonal intelligence’
was closely linked with Stability and Conscientiousness; ‘Interpersonal intelligence’ with Extraversion; ‘Linguistic intelligence’
with Openness; ‘Mathematical intelligence’ with Agreeableness and Conscientiousness. Correlations between self-estimated and
test-derived emotional intelligence showed correlations ranging from r = .18 to r = .56 for similar type ‘intelligences’. This study provides modest evidence for the concurrent and construct validity of
this measure. It requires more psychometric evidence of validity before it is used. 相似文献

Confirmatory factor analysis was used to test the construct validity of an attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder-inattention,
attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder-hyperactivity/impulsivity, oppositional defiant disorder toward adults, academic
and social competence factor model with teacher ratings of Thai adolescents (n = 872) with the Child and Adolescent Disruptive Behavior Inventory. The five-factor model resulted in an adequate fit in
an absolute sense (i.e., CFI = .960; TLI = .985; RMSEA = .065; and WRMR = .883). All the items had significant and substantial
loadings on their respective factors (i.e., > .78) with the five-factors showing discriminant validity. The five-factor model
also resulted in similar results for boys and girls separately as well as younger and older adolescents. The current findings
with the teacher version of the measure in conjunction with earlier research with mothers’ and fathers’ ratings of Brazilian,
Thai, and American children (Burns et al., Psychological Assessment, 20, 121-130, 2008) and Thai adolescents (Burns et al., Psychological Assessment, 21, 635-641, 2009) provide increasing support for the construct validity of Child and Adolescent Disruptive Behavior Inventory within multiple
cultures. Procedures are also outlined to improve the content validity as well as test the construct validity of forthcoming

Three studies investigated the psychometric properties of the complex postformal thought (PFT) questionnaire (Sinnott, unpublished
scale, 1998; Sinnott and Johnson 1997), which is a measure of adult cognitive development. The scale was found to be moderately reliable (α = .63). To assess construct
validity, a comparison of participants’ performance on the PFT scale to their performance on the Need for Cognition scale
was conducted, which indicated the PFT scale is valid measure of complex thought. Factor analysis reduced the scale to three
factors, which correspond to important components of PFT: Multiple Elements, Subjective Choice, and Underlying Complexities.
Implications for understanding the nature of adult cognitive development and the usefulness of this new measure for research

One-hundred fourteeen adults undergoing voluntary inpatient treatment for substance use disorders (SUDs) completed the Relationship
Profile Test (RPT; Bornstein et al. 2003), and Bond, Gardner, and Christian’s (1983) Defense Style Questionnaire (DSQ). Analyses examined gender differences in RPT subscale scores and evaluated patterns of
RPT-DSQ correlations in the SUD sample; a secondary analysis compared RPT scores in the present sample with those of Bornstein
et al.’s (Journal of Personality Assessment 80:64–74, 2003) nonclinical sample. Results supported the construct validity of the RPT as a measure of destructive overdependence (DO),
dysfunctional detachment (DD), and healthy dependency (HD) and provided preliminary clinical norms for the DO, DD, and HD
scales. Findings also documented potential limitations of the RPT in SUD patients. Continued evaluation is needed to assess

The criterion validity of the McLean Screening Instrument for Borderline Personality Disorder (MSI-BPD; Zanarini et al., Journal
of Personality Disorders 17:568–573, 2003) as a quick screening device for borderline personality disorder (BPD) was evaluated alongside the more established Personality
Diagnostic Questionnaire-4+ Borderline subscale (PDQ-BPD; Hyler 1994) using receiver operator characteristic (ROC) analysis. Both instruments demonstrated adequate criterion validity with the
diagnosis of BPD derived from a clinician-administered diagnostic interview. Optimal cutoffs for each measure were determined
using sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative likelihood ratios. The previously established cutoff for the MSI-BPD
of seven (Zanarini et al., Journal of Personality Disorders 17:568–573, 2003) was confirmed. The current study provides the first support for the use of the MSI-BPD as a screening measure for use in

Recently, Gomez and Fisher (Gomez R and Fisher JW (2003) Pers Individ Dif 35: 1975–1991) proposed that four facets of spiritual well-being exist, namely, personal, communal, environmental,
and transcendental spiritual well-being. Based on data from three independent studies, the present research effort tested
the validity of a German version of (Gomez R and Fisher JW (2003) Pers Individ Dif 35: 1975–1991) of the Spiritual Well-Being Questionnaire (SWBQ-G). It was found that the SWBQ-G was factorially
valid and that each of the four SWBQ-G scales was discriminant to mental, physical, and emotional well-being. Also, it was
found that the SWBQ-G predicted levels of subsequent happiness, psychological well-being (positive relationship), and stress
(negative relationship). These results add to our knowledge about the validity of the construct of spiritual well-being. 相似文献

Person-environment fit (P-E fit) was initially espoused as an important construct in the field of community psychology; however, most of the theoretical and empirical development of the construct has been conducted by the industrial/organizational (I/O) psychologists and business management fields. In the current study, the GEFS-a P-E fit measure that was developed from organizational perspectives on fit-was administered to 246 attendees of an annual convention for residents and alumni of Oxford House, a network of over 1,400 mutual-help addiction recovery homes. The authors conducted confirmatory factor and convergent construct validity analyses with the GEFS. The results suggested that the theoretical factor structure of the measure adequately fit the data and provided limited support for the measure's validity. Sufficient supply of resident needs by the Oxford House and similarity between residents and their housemates predicted satisfaction with the recovery home, but only perceived similarity to housemates predicted how long residents intended to stay in the Oxford Houses. 相似文献

The major goal of this study was to investigate relationships among levels of 341 secondary school students’ school satisfaction
and various intrapersonal, interpersonal, and academic measures. The measures included the School subscale from the Multidimensional
Students’ Life Satisfaction Scale (Huebner, 1994), Students’ Life Satisfaction Scale (Huebner, 1991), Children’s Hope Scale (Snyder et al. 1997), Behavioral Assessment System for Children (Reynolds & Kamphaus, 1992), self-perceived grade point average (GPA) and participation in extracurricular activities (SEAs). Students were placed into
three groups based on their school satisfaction reports, including very low (lowest 20%), average (middle 30%), and very high
(highest 20%) levels of school satisfaction. Students with very low school satisfaction differed from students with very high
school satisfaction on all adjustment measures; students with very low school satisfaction also differed from students with
average levels of school satisfaction on all measures, except the self-esteem measure. Relative to students reporting average
levels of school satisfaction, students reporting very high satisfaction demonstrated significantly higher scores on measures
of global life satisfaction, hope, internal locus of control, and GPA. Finally, only three students in the very high satisfaction
group and nine students in the average satisfaction group reported clinical levels of psychological symptoms. In the very
low satisfaction group, clinical levels of symptoms were reported by 30%, 22%, and 16% of the students on the Clinical Maladjustment,
Personal Adjustment, and Emotional Symptoms Index, respectively. Implications for future research and educational practices

The author incorporates empirical methodology and cross-cultural psychology literature to propose a new paradigm for Korean American cultural identification. He explains cultural identification as a cultural process construct that has important bearing on how successfully or unsuccessfully minority persons may function in the U.S. The construct of bicultural orthogonal identification was applied toward the development of a bilingual 4-item Korean American Cultural Identification Scale (KACIA). A random sample of 80 from a larger national pool of 1,141 Korean Americans was used to develop the scale. Findings support the orthogonality of bicultural identifications and good validity and reliability for the KACIA. This research aims to explore Satisfaction with Religiosity/Spirituality (SR/S) in a large sample of Muslims (1388 males,
1172 females) from Algeria. It also provides empirical evidence for the addition of a SR/S Domain item to the Personal Well-Being
Index (PWI). A questionnaire dealing with satisfaction with a range of personal and societal domains was used. Results support
previous findings (Wills Journal of Happiness Studies 10(1):49–69, 2009), and are in agreement with the recommendations of the International Well-being Group (Group discussion, 2006; IWG 2006). The new domain item makes a statistically significant — albeit a slight — contribution in predicting general satisfaction
with life (SWL). Notably, higher satisfaction with religiosity/spirituality is found in women compared to men, married individuals
compared to single ones, and inhabitants of the Sahara desert locations compared to people from other regions of Algeria. 相似文献

New Directions in Measuring Reactive and Proactive Aggression: Validation of a Teacher Questionnaire
The well-known distinction between reactive and proactive aggression is theoretically important but empirically controversial.
Recently, aggression researchers have argued that we should separate the form and function of aggression to make a clearer
distinction between reactive and proactive aggression. This article describes the validation of a new teacher-report Instrument
for Reactive and Proactive Aggression (IRPA) that assesses the form separate from the function of aggression. We demonstrated
good discriminant, convergent, and construct validity of the IRPA in a sample of 427 children aged 10 to 13. Reactive and
proactive functions of aggression were independent constructs (r = 0.03) which indicates excellent discriminant validity. Convergent validity was satisfactory; scores from the IRPA were
moderately to highly related to scores from the widely used Teacher Rating Instrument, TRI (Dodge and Coie in Journal of Personality
and Social Psychology 53:1146–1158, 1987). Additionally, reactive and proactive aggression showed unique correlations with most a priori hypothesized theoretically

The Oxford Happiness Questionnaire (OHQ) was developed by Hills and Argyle (2002) to provide a more accessible equivalent measure of the Oxford Happiness Inventory (OHI). The aim of the present study was
to examine the internal consistency reliability, and construct validity of this new instrument alongside the Eysenckian dimensional
model of personality. The Oxford Happiness Questionnaire was completed by a sample of 131 undergraduate students together
with the abbreviated form of the Revised Eysenck Personality Questionnaire. The data demonstrated good internal consistency
reliability (alpha = .92) and good construct validity in terms of positive association with extraversion (r = .38 p < .001) and negative association with neuroticism (r = −.57 p < .001). The kind of happiness measured by the OHQ is clearly associated with stable extraversion. 相似文献

Self-report measures of mindfulness have consistently demonstrated positive relationships with well-being and inverse relationships
with depression symptoms. The goal of this study was to extend the existing literature to include a test of the incremental
validity of the components of mindfulness (as measured by the four factors of the Kentucky Inventory of Mindfulness Skills
[KIMS]; Baer et al. Assessment, 11, 191–206, 2004) and the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS; Brown and Ryan Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, 84, 822–848, 2003) in the prediction of satisfaction with life (relative to self-esteem) and depression (relative to negative cognitions) among
a sample of 365 college students. Results revealed only KIMS Observe accounted for a significant amount variance relative
to self-esteem in the prediction of satisfaction with life, and in the prediction of depression symptoms, only KIMS Accept
without Judgment accounted for a significant amount of variance relative to negative cognitions. These results are discussed
in relation to the measurement of mindfulness and methods used to assess the validity of these scales. 相似文献

This study examined the factorial structure and validity of the Hare Psychopathy Checklist: Screening Version (PCL:SV) in
a European forensic context. A random sample of 257 criminal offenders from the Lithuanian prison population were administered
the PCL:SV (Hart et al. 1995). The pattern of validity coefficients in this sample was comparable to other North American and non-North American samples.
Several theoretical factorial structures for the PCL:SV were tested and compared. The two-factor model was not supported,
while three- and four-factor models provided an acceptable fit to Lithuanian data. The four-factor model showed significantly
better fit compared to the two-factor model. Correlations between PCL:SV factors and demographic variables confirm construct
validity. However in the four-factor model, when controlling for correlations of the remaining three factors, only the Antisocial
factor significantly correlated with variables related to criminal activity. It was concluded that the overall results of
the PCL:SV in a male sample of Lithuanian offenders support cross-cultural generalizability of the construct of psychopathy

Purpose
Job satisfaction facets are theoretically and practically important variables. Most existing facet satisfaction scales, however, have two noteworthy limitations—they often do not clearly assess affective content, and they use non-parallel items. In the current paper, we examined the measurement qualities of the Facet Satisfaction Scale (FSS; [Beehr et al. (Journal of Applied Social Psychology 36:1523–1547, 2006)], a measure that may address the limitations of existing facet satisfaction measures.Design/Methodology/Approach
We conducted four studies to examine the measurement qualities of the FSS: (a) Study 1 examined the FSS’s factor structure, (b) Study 2 examined its test-retest reliability and construct validity, (c) Study 3 further examined its construct validity, and (d) Study 4 examined the extent to which the FSS assesses the affective and cognitive components of job satisfaction.Findings
We found that the FSS produced the hypothesized five-factor structure and that the FSS subscales each yielded high levels of internal consistency and test-retest reliability. We also found evidence of the construct validity of the FSS subscales, and we found that the FSS subscales are generally effective measures of the affective component of their respective job satisfaction facets.Implications
As a result of the current findings, we recommend the FSS when researchers wish to measure the affective component of job satisfaction facets.Originality/Value
Little previous research has examined the FSS’s measurement qualities. The current studies address this gap by providing evidence for the reliability and validity of the FSS. This is of value because the FSS addresses some limitations inherent to other facet satisfaction measures.17.

This article focuses on the validation of the French adaptation of the Basic Psychological Need Satisfaction and Frustration Scale (BPNSFS). According to the self-determination theory (SDT), this scale aims to assess satisfaction and frustration of the three basic psychological needs: competence, affiliation and autonomy. The objective of this research was to translate and validate the French version of the BPNSFS general context. The BPNSFS was completed by 1031 French students (Mage = 18.73; SDage = 0.71; 66.89% of women). The psychometric properties were assessed through reliability, validity of construct based on internal structure, validity based on response processes and validity of prediction based on relations to other variables (i.e., self-worth and depression). The results confirmed the good reliability and validity of the scale. Therefore, the French version of the BPNSFS can be used to evaluate the satisfaction and frustration of basic psychological needs. 相似文献

The Rotter Incomplete Sentences Blank (RISB; Rotter, Lah, & Rafferty, 1992) is a sentence completion test intended to detect psychological maladjustment. To investigate the construct validity of the measure, we investigated what aspects of personality and psychopathology are correlated with the RISB and also tested the incremental validity of the RISB in a combined sample of clinical (n = 72) and undergraduate participants (n = 69). Interrater reliability of the RISB was good (intraclass correlation > .80). The RISB overall adjustment score discriminated between clinical and undergraduate participants, and high scores on the RISB were associated with higher negative affect, more anxiety and depression, irrational thinking, and interpersonal problems. The incremental validity of the RISB was modest, but it did explain variance in satisfaction with life and personality disorder symptoms above and beyond an extracted measure of general psychological distress. Martin Seligman, in his very popular book Authentic Happiness (Seligman 2002), argued that authentic happiness is derived from three major sets of experiences in life, namely experiencing pleasantness
regularly (the pleasant life), experiencing a high level of engagement in satisfying activities (the engaged life), and experiencing
a sense of connectedness to a greater whole (the meaningful life). In this paper, we maintain that balance in life contributes
significantly to subjective well-being. Balance contributes to subjective well-being because of the satisfaction limit that
people can derive from a single life domain. People have to be involved in multiple domains to satisfy the full spectrum of
human development needs. Different life domains tend to focus on different human developmental needs. More specifically, balance
contributes to subjective well-being because subjective well-being can only be attained when both survival and growth needs
are met. High levels of subjective well-being cannot be attained with satisfaction of basic needs or growth needs alone. Both

Wolfe and Naimark (Using rational-emotive therapy effectively. Plenum, New York, 265–301, 1991) claim that women, through sex-role stereotyping, may develop sex-role beliefs that are not helpful. However, there is a
dearth of research in this area with one of the major problems being the lack of an instrument to measure such sex-role beliefs.
To date the Bem Sex Role Inventory has been the main instrument used to measure gender schema. As it has been criticised extensively,
a new instrument to measure gender schema was proposed. The O’Kelly Women’s Belief Scales was therefore developed within a
rational-emotive behaviour therapy framework, reflecting the belief processes of demandingness, awfulising, low frustration
tolerance and negative self rating. Following the development of the scale, questionnaires were sent to 2,562 women working
at a large, multi-site, teaching hospital. Data from the 974 respondents resulted in the development of five subscales of
the O’Kelly Women’s Belief Scales: General Traditional Beliefs, Demands, Awfulising, Low Frustration Tolerance and Negative
Self Rating. Each of these subscales loaded on one factor and had high internal consistency. The scales were shown to have
