Robert I. Watson and the Cheiron Society

Cheiron, the International Society for the History of Behavioral and Social Sciences, was established in 1968 as an outcome of a National Science Foundation summer institute directed by Robert Watson and Josef Brožek. In subsequent years the society has developed into an effective organization for stimulating and disseminating scholarly work, through sponsoring an annual meeting and encouraging a communication network. This article notes Watson's support of Cheiron as one of his contributions to establishing the history of psychology as a specialty field.     

Robert E. Park at Fisk

Nothing is known about Robert E. Park's last years at Fisk University. He retired to Fisk University in 1935. The following account reports about the positions that Park held in the last two years of his life, about research, the teaching of sociology, human ecology, and especially about various aspects of race and intercultural relations. In the conclusion, Park's theoretical notions are evaluated.
