The topic of “childhood during the war” became so popular because there is a growing public interest in the suffering of Germans during and after the Second World War. This “German victim discourse” was received controversially: positively on the one hand, as finally a possible recognition of German suffering and as a liberation from the bonds of political correctness and negatively on the other hand, as the disposal of the moral heritage of the history of Nazi crimes by self-victimization. The causes of the high emotions in this controversy become apparent in examining the notion of childhood during the war and its current usage. Guilt and innocence prove to be the dominant categories in using the notions of war, trauma and childhood. The background of the popularity of this topic is still the need for relief of guilt. Reconciling guilt with suffering is still very difficult for Germany.

Crimes of passion are usually perceived mainly under the aspect of very intense affective arousal immediately before and during the act of aggression. In this paper the perception is broadened to include the inner development in the mind of the prospective aggressor. Phantasies and step-by-step decisions are often involved which lead to a deformation of the value system as preparation for the final act and only one single additional stimulus can result in transition to an assault. The question is whether the notion of responsibility can be restricted only to the mental state during this act itself.

What Do the Data Tell Us? Justification of scientific theories is a three-place relation between data, theories, and background knowledge. Though this should be a commonplace, many methodologies in science neglect it. The article will elucidate the significance and function of our background knowledge in epistemic justification and their consequences for different scientific methodologies. It is argued that there is no simple and at the same time acceptable statistical algorithm that justifies a given theory merely on the basis of certain data. And even if we think to know the probability of a theory, that does not decide whether we should accept it or not.

Although romantic love plays an important role for many people, empirical studies on romantic love have only been carried out recently. This article describes the results of a questionnaire on romantic love completed by 606 volunteers. The results show that nearly everyone has had the personal experience of falling in love at least once. According to the reports in the questionnaire, men and women do not differ with respect to the frequency and to the velocity with which they fall in love. Women, however, more often believe that their respective partner has fallen in love at a relatively early stage, whilst men believe that their respective partner has fallen in love only later. Both men and women exhibit distinct physical and emotional phenomena when they have fallen in love – women more pronouncedly than men. The quality of the relationship between men and women appears to be better if the partners have initially fallen in love with each other. From the point of view of couple therapy, the quality and quantity of being in love appear to be less important than the methods of coping with it, i.e. accepting that the initial romantic love period may not stay forever but must be replaced by another type of love, or accepting that a couple can also have a highly satisfactory relationship, although there was no initial period of romantic love.

The necessity and ability inherent in perversion of sexualizing aggression, of externalization and fetish formation were regarded as specific characteristics of male development. Perversions of women were not recognized, because they were looked for in the wrong place, without taking into account the significance of the particular female body experience for the psychosexual development of the woman. In the perversion of the woman the externalization and fetish formation refers to the whole of the own body and especially to the uterus and the child (as an own “product” or as a part of the own body). The female perversions are presented and interpreted here on the basis of case studies.

Information materials provided via the internet have the potential to improve users’ competences and thus influence their health care utilisation by allowing for more active participation. Furthermore, a great variety of e-health interventions have been developed to improve care. These interventions are not limited to specific areas of service provision but span the whole range from prevention to aftercare programs. It has been shown that such technology-enhanced interventions can help to bridge gaps in health care services in an effective way.
