The author represents Averintsev’s thought as a response to, and commentary on, Russia’s Silver Age, and describes his particular
method of seeing and understanding. The article considers his response to the cultural context in which he worked, focusing
mainly on Averintsev’s language, style and syntax, and linking it with his ideal of equilibrium. Finally, the article moves
on to Averintsev’s criticism of thinking in polarities. 相似文献

Abstract In this Paper I interpret Charles S. Peirce’s method of prescision as a transcendental method. In order to do so, I argue that Peirce’s pragmatism can be interpreted in a transcendental light only if we use a non‐justificatory understanding of transcendental philosophy. I show how Peirce’s prescision is similar to some abstracting procedure that Immanuel Kant used in his Critique of Pure Reason. Prescision abstracts from experience and thought in general those elements without which such experience and thought would be unaccountable. Similarly, in the Aesthetics, Kant isolated the a priori forms of intuition by showing how they could be abstracted from experience in general, while experience in general cannot be thought without them. However, if Peirce’s and Kant’s methods are similar in this respect, they reached very different conclusions. 相似文献

The purpose of this article is to explore the legacy of Charles V. Gerkin’s pastoral theology and to construct a method of pastoral theology. In Part I, I will trace within a larger context of pastoral theology the history of Gerkin’s pastoral theology since his early clinical praxis. In Part II, I will explore his method of developing pastoral theology and construct a renewed critical and constructive method of pastoral theology, reflecting on the implications of exploring the history and method of his pastoral theology. 相似文献

The article evaluates the Domain Postulate of the Classical Model of Science and the related Aristotelian prohibition rule
on kind-crossing as interpretative tools in the history of the development of mathematics into a general science of quantities.
Special reference is made to Proclus’ commentary to Euclid’s first book of Elements, to the sixteenth century translations of Euclid’s work into Latin and to the works of Stevin, Wallis, Viète and Descartes.
The prohibition rule on kind-crossing formulated by Aristotle in Posterior analytics is used to distinguish between conceptions that share the same name but are substantively different: for example the search
for a broader genus including all mathematical objects; the search for a common character of different species of mathematical
objects; and the effort to treat magnitudes as numbers. 相似文献

This essay considers the philosophical and theological significance of the phenomenological analysis of Christian faith offered
by the early Heidegger. It shows, first, that Heidegger poses a radical and controversial challenge to philosophers by calling
them to do without God in an unfettered pursuit of the question of being (through his ‘destruction of onto-theology’); and,
second, that this exclusion nonetheless leaves room for a form of philosophical reflection upon the nature of faith and discourse
concerning God, namely for a philosophy of religion in a phenomenological mode (as exemplified most clearly in Heidegger’s 1920/21 lectures on the phenomenology of religious life). However, it is argued
that the theological roots of Heidegger’s own phenomenological analyses subvert his frequently asserted claim concerning the
incompatibility of Christian faith and philosophical inquiry. 相似文献

Christian theology concerns the practical, contextual realities of life in the church and the world. What does this mean for a person with dementia? While much dementia care focuses on deficits, this article promotes a different starting point: God’s faithfulness rather than our forgetfulness. Using case studies from residential aged care, opportunities for meaningful pastoral care are explored, inviting us to see in the person with dementia a deep connection with ourselves. Drawn from a theological understanding of God as three persons—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—“person-centered care” invites us into relationships of mutuality and reciprocity not dependent on words. Pastoral care of families is manifest through personal relationships where all aspects of dementia, including death and dying, can be discussed openly. Grounded in God’s faithfulness, the first and final word is love. Hope lies in the belief that we have already been found. We are blessed by the grace of God, called into community where the insightful and the forgetful flourish together. 相似文献

The Direct Argument for the incompatibility of determinism and moral responsibility is so christened because this argument allegedly circumvents
any appeal to the principle of alternate possibilities – a person is morally responsible for doing something only if he could
have avoided doing it – to secure incompatibilism. In this paper, I first summarize Peter van Inwagen’s version of the Direct
Argument. I then comment on David Widerker’s recent responses to the argument. Finally, I cast doubt on the argument by constructing
counterexamples to a rule of inference it invokes.

This essay attempts to present Hegel as a secular theologian and to argue that the theological dimension of Hegel’s thought is central to his entire philosophy and is, in fact, the leitmotif that draws together all of his work. The task of overcoming the dualism between the sacred and the secular provides the driving spirit of all Hegel’s endeavors, from his juvenilia to the mature thought of his Heidelberg and Berlin periods. A secular theology demonstrates its commitment to secularity through three main affirmations: (1) the full reality and significance of this world, (2) the autonomy of the different fields of culture and knowledge besides that of religion, and (3) the epistemological authority of reason and shared experience in determining the real and the true. Hegel’s secular theology, however, has an ambiguous relationship with most forms of theism, including panentheism. 相似文献

In this paper, I shall discuss several topics related to Frege’s paradigms of second-order abstraction principles and his
logicism. The discussion includes a critical examination of some controversial views put forward mainly by Robin Jeshion,
Tyler Burge, Crispin Wright, Richard Heck and John MacFarlane. In the introductory section, I try to shed light on the connection
between logical abstraction and logical objects. The second section contains a critical appraisal of Frege’s notion of evidence
and its interpretation by Jeshion, the introduction of the course-of-values operator and Frege’s attitude towards Axiom V,
in the expression of which this operator occurs as the key primitive term. Axiom V says that the course-of-values of the function
f is identical with the course-of-values of the function g if and only if f and g are coextensional. In the third section, I intend to show that in Die Grundlagen der Arithmetik (1884) Frege hardly could have construed Hume’s Principle (HP) as a primitive truth of logic and used it as an axiom governing
the cardinality operator as a primitive sign. HP expresses that the number of Fs is identical with the number of Gs if and only if F and G are equinumerous. In the fourth section, I argue that Wright falls short of making a convincing case for the alleged analyticity
of HP. In the final section, I canvass Heck’s arguments for his contention that Frege knew he could deduce the simplest laws
of arithmetic from HP without invoking Axiom V. I argue that they do not carry conviction. I conclude this section by rejecting
an interpretation concerning HP suggested by MacFarlane. 相似文献
