Using samples from Iowa OASI sub-populations, the relationships between NMZ scores and the criteria of acceptance for services by the Iowa DVR as well as future rehabilitation of clients were examined. The results suggest that (a) the relationship of NMZ scores to the acceptance criterion is low; (b) the relationship of NMZ scores to the more ultimate criterion of client rehabilitation is moderate, and, here, empirical weights appear to work better than the intuitive weights assigned in the original development of NMZ scores; (c) through empirical weighting, the variable of age was revealed as most important in predicting such criteria.  相似文献

A preliminary questionnaire designed to measure confrontive counseling styles was given to 101 counselors from the state division of vocational rehabilitation (DVR) and the state employment service (ES). The responses were analyzed to see which items discriminated between agencies and between the counselors' sexes, ages, levels of education, and number of years with the agency. There were 13 significant (p = .01) items and they are described and discussed.  相似文献

The study was designed to interpret previous reports of a relationship between left wing political position and externality on Rotter's (1966) Internal-External (I-E) Scale. I-E items phrased in the first person were associated with a criterion measure of locus of control, and externality on the scale predicted inferior performance in a skill-controlled task. However, political position was related to neither the criterion measure of locus of control nor to successful performance in a skill-controlled task. Thus, there was no evidence that political position was related to locus of control in spite of its relationship with the I-E Scale. There was discussion of implications for the validity of the I-E Scale and for studying relationships between personality and political variables.  相似文献

Although researchers have suspected that rehabilitation counselors may often experience different success rates with different kinds of clients, little effort has been made to determine the best methods of assigning clients to counselors. Our study represents an attempt to provide insight into the desirability of assigning clients to counselors with a high proportion of successful closures with members of the clients' disability group. The criterion of desirability was the Cooper-Rubin suitability-of-placement index. Results indicated no positive relationship between counselors' proportion of successful closures and their average Cooper-Rubin index scores.  相似文献

Despite its proven utility and validity for the prediction of performance, the use of certain biodata questions for selection is being restricted because of fears of charges of discrimination, or of invasion of privacy, arising from increasingly stringent state and federal laws governing employment (Ash, 1989). The objective of this study was to develop alternative items that were valid and also perceived as nondiscriminatory and noninvasive for two biodata subscales in a well-researched biographical inventory. The newly developed subscales had acceptable KR-20 reliability coefficients. Sizeable and significant correlations between the corresponding original and newly developed subscales attested to the latter's construct validity. The performance criterion validity of the new subscales was demonstrated by significant correlations with both salary and with level of organizational functioning, which were regarded as measures of the individual's worth to the organization. The results of the present study encourage the expectation that biodata items can be constructed that are (1) valid, (2) in compliance, and (3) with a sufficiently low level of perceived invasiveness that will allow both the applicant and the test user to be comfortable with their use.  相似文献

This study examined the validity of a rationally developed biographical questionnaire for predicting content valid test performance for electrician applicants ( N = 221). Job analysis task statements were utilized as biographical items, and applicants were required to rate their previous work experience regarding each task. The utility of the questionnaire in screening applicant populations was shown to be both statistically and practically significant. EEOC implications are discussed.  相似文献

Effects of supervisor style (techniques type and counseling type) and supervisor empathy upon counselor perceptions in a supervision analogue were examined. Three groups of 14 students heard two sets of recorded client statements and responded as counselors. The two experimental (E) groups had 20-minute conferences with supervisors between the first and second sets. Controls (C) received no supervision. Counselor perceptions were measured by questionnaire responses. Although subjects supervised by an emphasis on techniques rated themselves less relaxed and less confident about the meaning of empathy than those with an emphasis on counseling, their performance on the criterion of empathy was higher. Both E groups perceived themselves as higher than C's in amount learned, but they were no higher on the performance measure. No differences were found for reactions to supervision (items given E's only) or reactions to participation in the experiment. Empathy of supervisors did not appreciably affect counselor perceptions.  相似文献

采用“类信号检测论方法”,通过两个实验,研究了在记忆信息提取过程中元记忆的预见性监测判断(Feeling-of-knowing)和元控制的作用及其影响因素。实验一探讨了识记材料的难易、识记遍数对元监测判断以及输出控制中的反应标准是否有影响;实验二探讨了严格和宽松的奖惩条件对输出控制中反应标准的影响。用计算机随机呈现识记用的词表材料,识记之后让被试进行FOK等级判断和自由回忆,再用“类信号检测论”方法统计实验数据,分析各种条件下回忆成绩、FOK判断等级,计算出相应的符合率和反应标准。实验一结果表明,不同材料难度和识记遍数下的回忆成绩和FOK判断等级差异显著,但输出控制中的反应标准值没受这些因素的影响;实验二结果是严格和宽松奖惩条件下的反应标准值差异显著,严格条件下的反应标准显著高于宽松条件下的反应标准,表明奖惩条件对信息提取中的反应标准有显著影响  相似文献

Research on metacognitive judgment accuracy during retrieval practice has increased in recent years. However, prior work had not systematically evaluated item-level judgment accuracy and the underlying bases of judgment accuracy in a criterion-learning paradigm (in which items are practiced until correctly recalled during encoding). Understanding these relationships during criterion learning has important theoretical implications for self-regulated learning frameworks, and also has applied implications for student learning: If the factors that influence metacognitive judgments are not predictive of subsequent test performance, students may make poor decisions during self-regulated learning. In the present experiments, participants engaged in test–restudy practice until items were recalled correctly. Once a given item reached criterion, participants made an immediate or delayed judgment of learning (JOL) for the item. A final cued-recall test occurred 30 min later. We examined judgment accuracy (the relationship between JOLs and test performance) and the underlying bases of judgment accuracy by evaluating cue utilization (the relationship between cues and JOLs) and cue diagnosticity (the relationship between cues and test performance). Immediate JOLs were only modestly related to subsequent test performance, and further analyses revealed that the cues related to JOLs were only weakly predictive of test accuracy. However, delaying JOLs improved both the accuracy of the JOLs and the diagnosticity of the cues that influenced judgments.  相似文献

Although successful retrieval practice is beneficial for memory, various factors (e.g., lag and criterion level) moderate this benefit. Accordingly, the efficacy of retrieval practice depends on how students use retrieval practice during learning, which in turn depends on accurate metacognitive monitoring. The present experiments evaluated the extent to which judgments of learning (JOLs) made after correct responses are sensitive to factors (i.e., lag and criterion level) that moderate retrieval practice effects, as well as which cues influence JOLs under these conditions. Participants completed retrieval practice for word pairs with either short or long lags between practice trials until items were correctly recalled 1, 3, 6, or 9 times. After the criterion trial for an item, participants judged the likelihood of recalling that item on the final test 1 week later. JOLs showed correct directional sensitivity to criterion level, with both final test performance and JOLs increasing as criterion level increased. However, JOLs showed incorrect directional sensitivity to lag, with greater performance but lower JOLs for longer versus shorter lags. Additionally, results indicated that retrieval fluency and metacognitive beliefs about criterion level--but not lag--influenced JOLs.  相似文献

This article describes the 1997 revision of the Dutch Rating System for Test Quality used by the Committee of Test Affairs of the Dutch Association of Psychologists (COTAN). The revised rating system evaluates the quality of a test on 7 criteria: Theoretical basis and the soundness of the test development procedure, Quality of the testing materials, Comprehensiveness of the manual, Norms, Reliability, Construct validity, and Criterion validity. For each criterion, a checklist with a number of items is provided. Some items (for each criterion at least 1) are so-called key questions, which check whether certain minimum conditions are met. If a key question is rated negative, the rating for that criterion will automatically be "insufficient." To enhance a uniform interpretation of the items by the raters and to explain the system to test users and test developers, comment sections provide detailed information on rating and weighting the items. Once the items have been rated, the final grades (insufficient, sufficient, or good) for the 7 criteria are established by means of weighting rules.  相似文献

为探索高校咨询师面临的多重关系伦理情境、决策过程,对访谈17名高校心理咨询师的资料进行分析。结果:常见情境主要包括接送礼物承载的新关系、来访者和咨询师除咨询关系外的师生关系、咨询师与和来访者有关的第三人有关系、咨询师在咨询室之外的场所偶遇来访者、来访者有咨询师的联系方式、来访者和咨询师有身体接触等。决策表现为两种:经验主导型,决策时未意识到处于伦理情境只凭经验决策;伦理主导型,决策时意识到处在伦理情境。结论:高校心理咨询存在一些特殊多重关系,心理咨询师需增加具有伦理意识的决策。  相似文献

This study examined university students' perceptions of which gender-role characteristics described helpful counselors for 137 nonmajors from an introduction to counseling class. Using a modification of the Broverman, et al. method (1970) and a modified version of their Stereotype Questionnaire, participants were randomly assigned to one of three conditions. Participants indicated the characteristics of a helpful counselor, a helpful female counselor, or a helpful male counselor using 20 bipolar items of gender-role characteristics. t tests were applied to whether agreement of the pole considered most frequently was greater than chance (50%). Analysis indicated agreement on characteristics were most helpful in a counselor, and the direction of this agreement did not differ across the three conditions or as a function of participants' sex. Agreement was high for the individual gender-role characteristic items across conditions as two of 20 items showed significant differences. There was significantly more agreement that male counselors should not have their feelings easily hurt than female counselors and significantly less agreement that male counselors should be able to express tender feelings easily relative to a counselor of unspecified sex.  相似文献

This study sought to identify factors related to employee perceptions of the accuracy of performance ratings they received using a subjective rating system. It also sought to determine if the relationship between these correlates and perceived fairness and accuracy was moderated by employee sex and/or race. The results were based on the analysis of items from questionnaires completed by 234 government employees whose job performance was rated on a graphic rating scale. A factor analysis of the predictor items yielded three factors. The first factor dealt with employees' confidence in their supervisors' qualifications to accurately rate their performance, the second with matters related to a discussion of appraisal outcomes (i.e., rewards and career progress), and the third with the relevance of the appraisal instrument. The measure of perceived fairness and accuracy was regressed onto scores derived for each of the three factors, plus a set of contrast variables representing the various race/sex groupings and a set of demographic variables (viz., job tenure, education level, and supervisory status). Factors 1 and 2, race, and supervisory status were found to be significantly related to perceived fairness and accuracy. Moreover, the relationship of the criterion with job tenure was moderated by race, that with factor 2 was moderated by sex. Management implications of these findings are discussed.  相似文献

This article presents data from four independent studies on the relationship between quantity of maternal vocal stimulation during naturalistic conditions and 3-month-old infants' cognitive processing, as assessed by the infants' differential vocal responsiveness (DVR) to their mother versus a female stranger. In two of the studies, the subjects were full-term American infants whose parents came from a wide socio-educational and ethnic background. In the third study, the subjects were low-risk preterm infants of White American parents. In the fourth study the subjects were full-term infants in Greece. The results from all four studies showed a curvilinear relationship between DVR and maternal vocal stimulation during naturalistic conditions. High DVR was associated with a mid-level amount of maternal vocal stimulation, whereas low DVR was associated with both least and most maternal vocal stimulation. These studies raise the question of possible adverse effects of social overstimulation on infant development.  相似文献

The study aimed to identify differential needs for supervision and preferred roles and style of supervision among 202 Israeli school counselors with varied experience levels. Results of multivariate analysis of variance procedures indicated that counselors with 7 or fewer years of experience consistently expressed significantly higher needs on all but one of the items studied, compared with more experienced counselors and counselor supervisors. The counselor supervisors were also different from the more experienced counselors. By contrast, in respect of roles and style of supervision, there was more agreement across all 4 levels of experience; all counselors placed important values on the counseling, process, and personalization components, suggesting a basic need for growth-oriented supervision.  相似文献

This study attempted to assess 2 questions: (1) What cognitive procedures, as suggested by the use of case data, do counselors use to arrive at a specific prediction? (2) Are the cognitive procedures used by counselors related to actual predictive accuracy? The predicted criterion was freshman grades. 66 counselors were classified into 4 groups on the basis of their typical styles of using case data to predict this criterion. The results showed that counselors varied markedly in their approach to this task. Regardless of the amount of case data available, some counselors appeared consistently to apply a prediction equation of some kind to every case while others attempted to develop independent models for each case. However, the style with which data were used was not significantly related to predictive accuracy.  相似文献
