The main features of the system of psycho-logic and its historical origins, especially in the writings of Heider and Piaget, are briefly reviewed. An updated version of the axioms of psycho-logic, and a list of the semantic primitives of Wierzbicka are presented. Some foundational questions are discussed, including the genetically determined limitations of human knowledge, the constructive, moral, and political nature of the approach, the role of fortuitous events, the ultimate limitations of psychological knowledge (the "balloon" to be inflated from the inside), the role of the subjective unconscious, and the implications of the approach for practice.  相似文献

In this article I explore some of the limitations of violence, in particular focusing on how it can possibly be undermined by dialogical action. Firstly, I argue that, although violence is at times justified by some people, its disrespectful use against innocent others, makes it illegitimate and therefore un‐dialogical. Secondly, the use of violence is considered by some as circumstantial and restricted to the achievement of short‐term goals. However, I argue that such action would lead to more violence and therefore should at all times be abandoned and conditions be established which are more favourable for dialogical action. Thirdly, violence ought to be prevented through the practice of responsible (respectful) action—action which takes into account non‐instrumentality, impartiality and deliberation.  相似文献

Masochistic phenomena in adults are discussed as derivatives of conscious and/or unconscious fantasies. These masochistic fantasies are always associated with conscious and/or unconscious narcissistic and sadistic fantasies. These fantasies, like all fantasies in adults, are conceived of as compromise formations. After a selected review of the literature, analytic data are presented to highlight the clinical advantages of a contemporary elaboration of the structural hypothesis for the understanding of sadomasochistic and sadonarcissistic phenomena.  相似文献

Termination of analysis is discussed from three perspectives. First, considered as a vicissitude of the analytic relationship, termination contains essential elements of the psychoanalytic process itself. Cycles of attachment, loss, mourning, and internalization mark moments in, as well as overviews of, every analysis from its beginning to well past its termination. Second, Freud's approach to the subject of termination is explored and widened, with an emphasis on its relation to mourning and on the depth and permanence of analytic transference--two dimensions relatively neglected by Freud, perhaps for personal reasons. Finally, clinical issues are presented that are meaningful to the author in his work with analysands, including his work as a training analyst.  相似文献

Defense against recall of painful affect is proposed as a significant element in the complex entity of neurotic sadomasochism and symptom formation. This formulation requires that the fantasy of reversibility--what happened can be undone--be analyzed in the transference and predict, for the patient, a painful feeling of loss and rage. The structure and tenacity of the powerful resistance to this work has the regressive, anal nature of reversibility which is also seen in the sadomasochistic characteristic of self and object interchangeability. The perceived threat of loss may be understood as related to early object loss, either whole or partial, and is associated with a flawed body image. Because the formative circumstances lie deep within the patient's past, reuniting residual affect, historical event, and early wishes by means of reconstruction is the only means of resolution. But, because it requires the relinquishment of the sustaining illusions of the sadomasochistic structure--omnipotentiality, omnipotence and bisexuality--the process will be experienced by the patient as intensely narcissistically dangerous. Vignettes from the analyses of two women illustrate the thesis and suggest the scope and direction of its clinical application.  相似文献

Religious traditions can be drawn on in a number of ways to illuminate discussions of the moral standing of animals and the ethical use of animals in scientific research. I begin with some general comments about relevant points in the history of major religions. I then briefly describe American civil religion, including the cult of health, and its relation to scientific research. The narcissist and borderline personality types complement one another's defensive style providing needed defensive externalization of disavowed and split-off feelings. One is exploitative, grandiose, and dominant, forever seeking admiration and exhibiting an aggrandized self; the other experiences humiliation, neediness, helplessness, and terror of aloneness. They form a powerful complementary dyad wherein each identifies with disavowed emotional experiences displayed in the other. They can coexist for lengths of time, defensively discharging unwanted feelings. In the first case presented above, the transference was split initially, with the masoborderline patient being victimized and humiliated by her sadonarcissistic lover. In the second case, a male sadonarcissist enacted disavowed feelings through relationships with masoborderline women. In both cases, defensive enactment was fed by a complementary, intense, and symbiotic relationship. Complementary dynamics can be subtle and difficult to analyze. They involve defensive identification that draws on projection, enactment, and externalization--all difficult defenses to analyze. Enactment rather than remembering is inimical to the development of insight into transference and genetic connections and must be worked through for the analysis to progress. More than the usual analytic patience and resolve is needed to work through the difficult entrapments caused by these dynamics.  相似文献

Several years ago, a negotiated, consensual abduction scenario took place in downtown Toronto, Canada. Following the public abduction the captive was taken to a secure, private location and (consensually) subjected to physical and sexual aggression: ‘gang-rape’. The public abduction involved five queer and trans persons, some of whom are people of colour. In a Foucaultian context, an abduction scenario eludes surveillance and remains invisible until revealed. During the abduction scenario some citizens stopped, observed, and considered using their cellular phones, visibly concerned with what they were witnessing. At one point the scenario paused for consultation and explanation with bystanders troubled by what they interpreted as potentially criminal behaviour. This response can be understood as policing non-normative, public, physical activity. What are the limitations of Sadomasochism (S/m) in the public sphere? And how are identifications of class, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality positioned in this analysis? To those inexperienced with S/m, unfamiliar with consensually aggressive activity, there can be a questioning of psychological contiguity. In the twenty-first century there has been a mainstreaming of kink. Yet, there remain limitations of public tolerance for S/m as counter–conduct. Through the work of Warner and Munoz, this paper suggests the scenario can be interpreted as a counterpublic. This research is an autoethnographic account of the scenario and addresses the limitations on S/m scenarios conducted in the public sphere.  相似文献

An attempt is made to place bestophilia in cultural, clinical, and theoretical perspective. Archeological and anthropological documentation and records of the widespread appearance in mythology of this practice are cited. This archaic form of perversion is still practiced in rural environments and isolated communities. The treatment of a man who grew up in such an environment gave the author the opportunity to study this form of perversion. The correlation of clinical findings with culturally sanctioned bestophilia provides a bridge between the understanding of psychopathology and anthropological variation.  相似文献

Abstract

Recognizing the need to move beyond the sensationalism surrounding S&M and Christian theology, this article positions S&M within an understanding of the material economics of sex in late capitalistic society. It makes a distinction between discourses of pain and the religious body and the modern S&M discourses of psychopathology, subcultural politics and commercial markets The article then explores the tensions between S&M as an oppressive theological and social structure (a capitalistic model of sexuality-desire) and S&M as a liberating activity in its non-productive exchange (Foucault's pleasure-intensity). While revealing the problems of idolatry and the need for ‘critical consensuality’, the article concludes by showing how intensity and intimacy in S&M can change Christian attitudes to sex and the market.  相似文献

The paper revises the complex theory in the light of modern infant research, neurosciences and object relation theory. The author takes up Jean Knox's idea to understand complexes as analogies to the internal working models of attachment theory. The author proposes to understand complexes as dissociated sub-networks out of the network structure of the psyche; these sub-networks contain the internal working models, the characteristic affects and unconscious expectation phantasies. With this network model one can try to understand severe defensive organizations in some patients as a pathological organization of different complexes.
