Historians of philosophy are increasingly likely to emphasize the extent to which their work offers a pay‐off for philosophers of un‐historical or anti‐historical inclinations; but this defence is less familiar, and often seems less than self‐evident, to intellectual historians. This article examines this tendency, arguing that such arguments for the instrumental value of historical scholarship in philosophy are often more problematic than they at first appear. Using the relatively familiar case study of René Descartes' reading of his scholastic and Aristotelian contemporaries, the article attempts to problematize this notion of pay‐off from an historian's perspective.  相似文献

Irigaray demonstrates that metaphysics depends upon the specific negation and exclusion of the female body. Readings of Irigaray's Speculum of the Other Woman tend to highlight the status of this excluded materiality: is there an essential female body which precedes negation or is the feminine only an effect of exclusion? 作者认为,康德历史形而上学的意义不次于《纯粹理性批判》在其自身领域的重要性,它将哲学问题由存在领域转向义务领域。普遍世界历史观采用的是先验方法,与目的论联系在一起,体现出大自然的计划。如果说康德伦理学追求个体的自由及其道德独立性,那么其历史哲学则强调人类只有通过社会这个媒介,才能实现其真正的道德任务。人类自身的二重性构成康德历史哲学的本质,也是历史与社会发展的动力,由此决定了社会政治的真正任务,由此方显启蒙运动的真正意义。  相似文献

在最近的几项研究中,本文作者提出南宋时期包括永嘉之学、永康之学以及婺学在内的"浙东学派",反对空言道德性命,而特别重视将天道的追寻贯彻于社会历史的全部领域,从而实现了历史学与哲学的融合,实际上成为中国古代的一个"历史哲学"学派.南宋时期浙东学的集大成者应归于吕祖谦,他亦是历史哲学观念的系统表达者.本文即以此观点为前提,对吕祖谦的历史哲学思想进行了比较系统而又简要的梳理,论述了其关于历史的观念、历史解读的方法、历史的价值理念以及将历史视为天道自身的运动性展开的根据.  相似文献

ABSTRACT This paper is an account of a response to a well-intentioned and genuinely naive question concerning the nature of 'applied philosophy'. It indicates differing points of view concerning the nature of philosophy and what one might or might not expect from it. It tries to synthesise these points of view into a position that sees philosophy as continuous with that attitude of mind that was epitomised by Socrates, an attitude of mind which is directed to every aspect or dimension of human life. The notion of the enquiring activist is borrowed to encapsulate this attitude as a valuable goal of 'applied philosophy'.  相似文献

This essay is meant to shed light on a discourse that spans centuries and includes different voices. To be aware of such trans-textual resonances can add a level of historical understanding to the reading of philosophical texts. Specifically, we intend to demonstrate how the notion of the ineffable Dao 道, prominently expressed in the Daodejing 道德經, informs a long discourse on incongruent names (ming 名) in distinction to a mainstream paradigm that demands congruity between names and what they designate. Thereby, we trace the development of the idea of the ineffable Dao quite differently from modern mystical interpretations. We show how, in an early Chinese context, it first gives rise to a sociopolitical critique of the incongruity underlying socially constructed names in the Zhuangzi 莊子, then to a discourse on the incongruity between moral virtues and names in Xuanxue 玄學 philosophy, and eventually to Sengzhao’s 僧肇 claim that a perceived congruence of names with things does not entail actual congruence between names and reality.  相似文献
