"Nontherapy" family research and change in families: a brief clinical research communication.

This is the second interim report of an exploratory, prospective study of psychiatrically “nonlabeled” family interaction. The project focuses primarily on whole-family interaction as it progresses through time.     

The Rorschach "Father" and "Mother" cards: an evaluation of the research

An evaluation the research concerning the identification of Rorschach Cards IV and VII as the "Father" and "Mother" cards, respectively, was conducted. Although some support for the hypothesis was found, inconsistencies in methodology and population preclude any accurate evaluation of the data across studies, and lead to the conclusion that such an identification should not be made. Tables were constructed which compare the differences in hypotheses, methodologies, and results of the research.     

Current alexithymia research. Critical comments on the "instrumentalizing" critique

Referring to the paradigms of newly developed tests, split-brain research, and modern treatment strategies, Hoppe argues that Ahren's critique (1988) of research on alexithymia is onesided because it ignores incompatible research findings.     

The limitations of "vulnerability" as a protection for human research participants

Vulnerability is one of the least examined concepts in research ethics. Vulnerability was linked in the Belmont Report to questions of justice in the selection of subjects. Regulations and policy documents regarding the ethical conduct of research have focused on vulnerability in terms of limitations of the capacity to provide informed consent. Other interpretations of vulnerability have emphasized unequal power relationships between politically and economically disadvantaged groups and investigators or sponsors. So many groups are now considered to be vulnerable in the context of research, particularly international research, that the concept has lost force. In addition, classifying groups as vulnerable not only stereotypes them, but also may not reliably protect many individuals from harm. Certain individuals require ongoing protections of the kind already established in law and regulation, but attention must also be focused on characteristics of the research protocol and environment that present ethical challenges.     

李筌《黄帝阴符经疏》的真伪考略

李筌 ,号达观子 ,新旧《唐书》俱不载其身世 ,大约为唐玄宗(712 - 76 3年 )时人。按敦煌本《阃外春秋》残卷卷首进书表 ,末署有“天宝二年六月十三日少室山布衣臣李筌上表” ,推知筌在天宝二年 (74 3年 )尚为布衣。晚唐范摅《云溪友议》卷上提“李筌郎中为荆南节度判官”、“后为邓州刺史” ,此说与曾《集仙传》所载之筌“仕至荆南节度副史、仙州剌史”① 略有差异。又宋晁公武《郡斋读书志》卷七谓“筌上元 (76 0 -76 1年 )中自表” ,故知筌在肃宗年间尚任官职。此后筌之行踪 ,史载语焉不详 ,如杜光庭《神仙感遇传》谓筌“时为李林甫所排…     

略谈“八大山人”与净明道的关系

"八大山人"是清代著名的艺术家,擅长绘画与书法.他的本名为朱耷,是明太祖朱元璋的十世孙,因见证明王朝灭亡,故曾看破红尘而出家隐居;其书画中"八大山人"的落款,既似"哭之",又似"笑之",由此而得称绝笔.本人近读民国延寿居士编<青云谱志>,从中得知"八大山人"实际上就是净明道(又称"净明忠孝道")之青云谱(又作"青云圃")道院的兴建者朱道朗,且此人还开创了净明道的一个支派--青云派①,详如下.     

Simulation in hypnosis research: the "hidden" role of attribution of meaning

The role played by attribution of meaning in research involving simulation is examined. Acknowledgement of this role, lacking to date, queries the traditional use of simulation but also opens up interesting research questions.
