Suffering and the sovereignty of God: one Evangelical's perspective on doctor-assisted suicide.

This paper presents my personal convictions, as an Evangelical, regarding the absolute impropriety of doctor-assisted suicide for Christians. They have been "bought with a price" and are owned by Another. Hence, they must always strive to glorify God in their bodies, both in life and in death. Although they crave the well-being of temporal health, when they are ill seek healing or relief, and may well recoil even from the thought of suffering and dying, they should realize that their values and priorities must be rooted in biblical truths and that their well-being is eternal and not temporal, spiritual and not material. As Christians, their attitudes and responses to suffering and dying must be molded by the reality that their Creator and Sovereign will cause all things to work together for their good and that their Lord has called them into a fellowship of His suffering in which they are sustained by dependence upon Him. Hence, for Christians to take their lives in order to escape from the trials and testings ordained by Him would be a failure of love and a breach of trust.     

孔子的仁与礼乐

在孔子心目中,仁包括了人视、听、言、动等各个方面的内容。正是因为仁的集合性,每个个体的人具有不同的质,所以孔子在回答不同弟子关于什么是仁的时候,就有了不同的答案。但目的是相同的,就是希望弟子都能养成美好的道德,努力达到仁的境界。孔子是从＂美＂的角度理解仁的,从内心到外表都做到了＂美＂,就达到了＂仁＂的高度。＂仁＂的思想体现在孔子的一言一行中,同样反映在孔子对于乐的理解与理论上。礼和乐是不可分割的,在礼崩乐坏、时代大变革的背景下,孔子利用礼的理性特征和乐的感性特征,达到其社会教化的目的,把＂尽善尽美＂和＂文质彬彬＂的思想贯穿其中,以实现其＂天下归仁＂的理想。

论道教灯仪的形成与文化功用

灯,是道教斋醮法事中频繁使用的法器.在斋醮坛场上,燃灯与烧香同样重要.凡举行有关燃灯祭招的仪式,即谓之灯仪,这是道教斋醮的一种常用科仪.杜光庭《太上黄篆斋仪》卷五六说：“夫礼灯之法,出金录简文.凡修斋行道,以烧香燃灯最为急务.香者,传心达信,上感真灵：灯者,破暗烛幽,下开泉夜.……

The Right to Belong: Individual Motives and Youth Gang Initiation Rites

The current study uses a mixed-methods approach to describe the nature and context of the initiations undergone by 54 participants among a sample of 73 incarcerated gang members. The study describes and compares types of initiation and how they vary based on individual characteristics of the individuals being initiated. Three general types of initiation are found: (1) the ego violent event, (2) the crime commission, and (3) the expressive violence toward others. An ego violent initiation was more frequent among younger prospective members and those who were coerced into joining. Individuals who were looking for respect were more likely to be required to perpetrate an act of violence toward someone in order to get in. No individual characteristics were associated with crime commission type. The policy implications of such findings are discussed in conclusion.     

Daoist Criticisms of Confucian Sacrificial Rites

Various passages in the Laozi and the Zhuangzi, the two most important texts of ??philosophical Daoism,?? critically mock Confucian sacrificial rites. Perhaps the best known of these criticisms refers to a practice involving straw dogs (Laozi 5, Zhuangzi 14). This article will attempt to expose the philosophical dimensions of these passages that show, in my reading, how Daoist philosophy looks at such sacrificial rituals as a sort of evidence of the Confucian misconceptions of time, of death and life, and of cosmic and social order.

维护和体现人的尊严是礼仪的价值所在。教师的职业劳动是传播、创造人类文化、文明和先进思想 ,职业特点是以人格来培养人格 ,以灵魂来塑造灵魂。教师礼仪的核心是对学生的尊重和关爱 ,是教师向学生表达教师爱的具体形式。所以 ,礼仪不仅是教师自身良好职业道德修养的表现 ,而且使教师职业道德成为一种重要的教育力量或教育要素。
