Source memory involves recognizing or recalling particular features that cause us to think of a mental experience as representing a particular past event. Research directed at understanding source memory comes from many domains, including cognitive-behavioral psychology, neuroscience, lifespan psychology, clinical psychology, and psychiatry. The authors believe that integrating multiple approaches to investigating source memory--most notably here, cognitive-behavioral and cognitive neuroscience--provides productive cross-fertilization of theory, methods, and analyses that in turn will yield unique constraints to our understanding of human memory. The investigations in this special section demonstrate the promise of such an integrative approach for advancing theories of source memory.  相似文献

Following 25 years of landmark progress, health psychology faces even greater change in the foreseeable future. Evolving patterns of health and illness and developments in medicine and related fields will shape the future of health psychology. The articles in this special section discuss these future issues in several areas: the biopsychosocial model, changes in demographics, prevention, clinical health psychology interventions, health care financing, and new technologies. In every case, the future holds a variety of important challenges and opportunities in research, practice, training, and policy.  相似文献

Evolution of clinical mathematical psychology, exemplifying integrative, translational psychological science, is considered in light of target, idealized scientific systems. It is observed that mutual benefits to psychological clinical science, and quantitative theory, potentiated through their interlacing as exemplified in this special issue, stand to parallel the historical symbiosis between older disciplines and mathematics. Enumerated are the range of psychological processes and clinical groups addressed, forms of modeling implemented, and clinical issues engaged, the latter ranging from intervention, to elucidation of deviant basic processes. A denouement comprising cogent quotations from historical figures in science concludes this Introduction.  相似文献

Prevention science as an interdisciplinary specialty is addressed in this introduction to the special section of the journal. The six papers that comprise the special section are briefly summarised, especially noting the global regions that are represented, that is, Europe, Middle East, New Zealand and South America. Attention to the importance of differential adaptations of prevention interventions developed in one region, country or locale but implemented in another is emphasised. The Guest Editors reflect on the importance of developing cross-national collaborations to further the advance of prevention science globally.  相似文献

In response to the recent increase in the number of laboratories engaged in the use of functional and structural neuroimaging to study cognitive aging, this special section has been compiled to serve as an entry into this area for the readers of Psychology and Aging. These articles are representative of the field and cover many of the issues faced by researchers in this area. This introduction presents some background into the techniques that are used and provides an overview of the articles.  相似文献

This special issue of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology: Attitudes and Social Cognition is devoted to theory and research at the interface of social psychology and neuroscience. The 5 empirical articles represent the theoretical and methodological breadth of issues considered by social neuroscientists. The methods span brain lesion work to neuroendocrinology to psychophysiological indicators of brain activity to functional magnetic resonance imaging indicators of brain activity. The remaining 2 articles consider explicitly some of the promises and pitfalls of social neuroscience; these authors, although noting the power of neuroscience methods, remind readers of the serious challenges posed in trying to examine the biological processes underlying or associated with social psychological phenomena. These articles help to reveal the richness of social neuroscience and the power of neuroscientific methods to address processes and mechanisms that would not be possible with traditional social psychology methods.  相似文献

On February 10, 2010, the official proposals for the personality disorders section of the fifth edition of the American Psychiatric Association's (APA) Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) were posted (see www.dsm5.org ). The posting by the DSM-5 Personality and Personality Disorders Work Group has been helpful in informing the field of the possible changes that may occur with DSM-5. Their presence allows for and encourages persons to provide their suggestions and concerns. The extent of the proposals is considerable. As expressed on the website, "the work group recommends a major reconceptualization of personality psychopathology" (Skodol, 2010, "Reformulation of personality disorders in DSM-5," para. 1). The proposals have generated some controversy. The Journal of Personality Disorders has always sought to be a participant in the crucial debates in our field. The purpose of this special issue is to provide members of the Work Group the opportunity to further articulate the rationale for the proposals, and to provide others an opportunity to articulate their concerns. Copies of this special issue were distributed to interested persons when the complete set of final papers were received (October of 2010).  相似文献
