Raufman’s paper is located in the ongoing integration of relational concepts into the world of group analysis. Raufman’s difficult days of therapeutic impasse in her group are regarded as emblematic of the theoretical bind that she and other group analysts find themselves in, caught between older, more classically based theory that inheres in much group therapy and theory and the recent embrace of relational concepts. An alternate reading of the group enactment is offered from the perspective of an unobtrusive relational group analyst with a focus on the conductor’s negative capability and capacity to companion the group’s organic psychological language and idiom in a process of enactive co-narration. It is suggested that when Raufman killed the wasp, the group finally found the vitalizing, enlivening, and companioning object in the leader, that it had been seeking all along.  相似文献

Ravit Raufman’s paper contributes to the bridging gap between relational approaches and group therapy. It is also important in its recognizing the (group) therapist’s aggression and suggesting how to use it in the service of the group development. In this review I focus on the dynamics of a group of women led by a woman to explain some of the phenomena that Raufman describes in her article, and I add some social unconscious ideas to enrich our understanding of that group.  相似文献

Since September 11, 2001, terrorism has become familiar to us. The word itself rolls readily off our lips and we wonder about, and struggle with, the lasting consequences of that late summer day. In this paper we speak about thirty-four years of civil strife and terrorism in Northern Ireland. We examine the traumatic impact of that chronic strife on the therapy groups in Northern Ireland. Specifically we examine its impact on therapy groups-as-a-whole, on therapy group members and their interactions with each other, and on the group therapists who lead those groups. A brief review of the history of the strife and its impact on the citizenry precedes these central discussions. We conclude with suggestions about how we may use specially designed groups to enable therapists to address those effects in their groups. Some of these suggestions are already underway.  相似文献

This paper presents a detailed account of the role of the analytic supervisor of group therapy. In addition to overseeing the teaching of clinical skills, the analytically-oriented supervisor monitors the dynamics of the supervisee and the supervisory relationship itself. Unconscious processes may both interfere with, and shed light on what is occurring in the treatment. The author suggests that a collaborative relationship characterized by safety and mutual reflection promotes learning. The distinctions between analytic and nonanalytic supervision of groups are discussed.  相似文献

In a sample of 117 youth and their parents, the associations between parental relational aggression, psychological control, youth gender, and youth relational aggression were examined. Boys with parents high on relational aggression and psychological control reported more relational aggression than boys with parents high on relational aggression and low on psychological control. Girls with parents low on relational aggression and high on psychological control reported more relational aggression than girls with parents low on relational aggression and psychological control. Results indicate youth may learn to use relational aggression from their parents, and have implications for intervention with relationally aggressive youth.  相似文献

This article deals with different modes of skin-related experiences in the social unconscious as expressed in two social products: fairy tales and group therapy processes. The phenomenon of the realization of a skin-related idiomatic expression that appears in fairy tales will be analyzed in order to touch upon the relations between concrete and symbolic modes of expressions in the social unconscious. This is based on previous works, showing that fairy tales reside along the seam line between thinking in words and thinking in images. A vignette from a therapy group shows its relevance to group psychotherapy.  相似文献

This study focused on “here-and-now” narrative and examined the process of group psychotherapy for cancer survivors using systems-centered therapy (SCT). In contemporary society, cancer survivors have a vital need for psychological support, and group psychotherapy and peer support are used as part of this need. In most of these interventions, participants are encouraged to speak freely and share their experience of cancer. This generally means speaking about “there-and-then” experience. It has been argued that one reason that narrative therapy produces a psychological effect is that the meaning of an experience changes when the experience is spoken about. SCT differs significantly from other group interventions in that it requires participants to talk about their here-and-now experience through the format of SCT's “functional subgrouping.” Functional subgrouping requires participants to listen, reflect, and build on similarities in their experience. In this study, we qualitatively examined how participants' experiences unfolded in the SCT group by directly addressing the group process. The study findings revealed that even though the participants did not directly share their cancer experiences in the group, they experienced an inexplicable sense of connectedness that had a positive psychological effect on them. They also experienced deep emotions through talking while using the SCT narrative style. In the process, the effects of the SCT narrative were discussed.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to develop and evaluate a pilot group using the Tree of Life model for individuals with a diagnosis of anorexia nervosa. Qualitative feedback from patients was collected in a focus group and analyzed using thematic analysis. Four themes were identified: (1) an image to remember, share, and change, (2) constructing an alternative perspective, (3) hope, and (4) creating a sense of community. The results and their implications are discussed.  相似文献

The current study aims to explore, through the eyes of adult former clients, the experience of being in expressive arts group therapy (EAGT) as a child. By focusing on the memories of adults, the study allowed the exploration of former clients’ understanding of what the therapy was about and its effects on their lives. Semi-structured open-ended interviews were conducted with 20 adult former clients who, as children, had participated for at least one year in EAGT. Findings point toward the background of the empathic, attuned, safety, together with the fostering of the capacity to enter into spontaneous creative states, as central themes in participant’ recollections of the therapeutic process. Further findings relate to the implicit and long-term quality of the therapeutic effect.  相似文献

Like a meteor hitting the earth’s surface, 44, 131 unexpected deaths have shaken, disturbed, and saddened the core of our nation. This reflection considers the consequences of the coronavirus crisis in the UK with particular reference to the impact on families and on the practice of family therapists. The perspective presented can only be partial because of the fast-changing situation and the limited access to alternative perspectives that are available during this period of relational lockdown. The author provides a systemic understanding of what has happened and what is happening.  相似文献

This paper attempts a closer look at the theoretical foundations for some of the clinical shifts that underlie a relational psychoanalytic approach. It also posits that what unites relational writers who come from different psychoanalytic traditions—that is, Freudian, Kleinian, Object Relations, Self Psychology—has more to do with the kinds of questions asked than with the particular answers that are offered. Specifically these questions have to do with the epistemological basis for how we know what we know as analysts, the model of mind we employ to understand our patients, and the mode of therapeutic action that evolves from these two earlier shifts. Several clinical examples are offered.  相似文献
