We present exact results related to the T = 0 phase diagram of the periodic Anderson model in the strong coupling U =infinity limit for D = 2,3 dimensions. In a restricted parameter region, a ground state with simple algebraic structure was deduced in both dimensions, and its region of existence was characterized by sufficient conditions. The quasiparticle creation operator that builds up the ground state wave function does not satisfy the standard fermionic anticommutation relations.  相似文献

Abstract

Recent evidence suggests that visual feedback influences the adjustment of grip force to the changing load force exerted by a grasped object as it is manipulated. The current project investigated how visual feedback of object kinematics affects the coupling of grip force to load force by scaling the apparent displacements of the object viewed in virtual reality. Participants moved the object to manually track a moving virtual target. The predictability of the changing load force exerted by the object was also manipulated by altering the nature of target trajectories (and therefore the nature of object motions). When apparent object displacements increased in magnitude, grip force became more tightly coupled to load force over time. Furthermore, when load force variations were less predictable, the magnitude of apparent object displacements affected the relative degree of continuous versus intermittent coupling of grip force to load force. These findings show that visual feedback of object motion affects the ongoing dynamical coupling between grip force control and load force experienced during manipulation of a grasped object.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

We present results for the structural, electronic, vibrational, and electron-phonon coupling properties of LaSn3 and CaSn3 adopting the simple cubic AuCu3-type structure obtained using the the generalised gradient approximation of the density functional theory and plane wave ab initio pseudopotential method. Our electronic results show that both materials display metallic character with several bands, which have mainly Sn 5p character, crossing the Fermi level. The calculated phonon spectrum of LaSn3 accords very well with reported experimental measurements. The weights of the peaks in the Eliashberg spectral function of both compounds are enhanced with the use of experimental lattice constant in our electron-phonon calculation, increasing the value of average electron phonon coupling parameter from 0.876 to 0.937 for LaSn3 (by 7%) and from 0.642 to 0.725 for CaSn3 (by 13%). The use of experimental lattice constant also improves the agreement between theoretical and experimental values of the superconducting temperature for both compounds.  相似文献

In this article, I use a mental models computational account of representation to illustrate some details of my previously presented inferential model of scientific understanding. The hope is to shed some light on possible mechanisms behind the notion of scientific understanding. I argue that if mental models are a plausible approach to modelling cognition, then understanding can best be seen as the coupling of specific rules. I present our beliefs as ‘ordinary’ conditional rules, and the coupling process as one where the consequent of one ordinary rule (OR) matches and activates the antecedent of the rule to which it is coupled in virtue of the activation of an intermediate ‘inference’ rule. I argue that on this approach knowledge of an explanation is the activation of ORs in a cognitive hierarchy, while understanding is achieved when those activated ORs are also coupled via correct inference rules. I do not directly address issues regarding the plausibility of mental models themselves. This article should therefore be seen as an exercise in refining the inferential model within an already presupposed computational setting, not one of arguing for the psychological adequacy of computational approaches.  相似文献

ObjectivesPrevious studies have shown that sport officials’ decisions can be impacted by biases associated with expectations. The aim of this study was to determine whether elite cricket umpires’ decisions are also influenced by expectations associated with batter skill.MethodsLBW decisions (n = 5578) from actual elite level cricket matches in Australia between 2009 and 2016 were analysed in a multi-level binomial logistic regression paradigm. In our first model, we predicted the likelihood that an umpire will answer ‘out’ for batters in the top order (1–4), middle order (5–7), and low order (8-11). In our second model, we controlled for the correctness of a decision.ResultsUmpires were more likely to respond ‘out’ as the batting order progressed, however this did not appear to be due to biased decision-making. Instead, as batting order progressed, batters were more likely to actually be ‘out’.ConclusionsCricket umpires do not seem to be impacted by expectation bias associated with batting order. This study highlights the importance of controlling for the correctness of a decision when exploring bias in sport officials’ decisions.  相似文献

Using the Israeli case of Abu‐hatzira, this paper argues that processes of degradation, stigmatization and deviantization can be reversed. The case itself is documented to be followed by an interpretation clustered along two axes. It is argued, first, that Abu‐hatzira used in his favor an existing ethnic dispute in Israel, coupled with a religious factor. Second, reversal of deviantization can be achieved by politicizing “regular” deviance, subsequently making a political statement within the context of an effective ideology geared to mobilize a receptive audience.1  相似文献

High-resolution grazing-incidence parallel-beam powder diffraction has been used to detect the subsurface damage below alumina surfaces subjected to polishing with cerium oxide or diamond. Despite very significant evolution of the surface morphology, no changes in the subsurface strains were observed over a 20min period of polishing with ceria. For both polishing materials, the variation with angle in the full-width at half-height maximum was successfully modelled by a strain distribution that fell exponentially with increasing depth. Although the surface amplitude and depth dependence parameter are coupled, we have been able to place upper limits on the depth to which the damage extends. Under realistic assumptions, the depth of damage induced by 1µm diamond paste is comparable with that from 3µm ceria polish.  相似文献

We identify the lowest local energy state in the CuO2 plane of cuprate superconductors, the vibration that does not involve distortions of constituent units of the plane, the Rigid Unit Mode (RUM). On lowering the temperature, correlated atomic motion in the plane is related to the RUM vibration. We discuss the relevance of this vibration for superconductivity, including electron–phonon coupling, d-wave symmetry of the order parameter, structural state of the CuO2 plane and spatial variations of the electronic structure.  相似文献

Abstract

Phonon anomalies due to superconductivity in YBa2Cu3O7 are correlated with the superconducting order parameter. The phonon part of the excess specific heat follows the same temperature evolution as the measured macroscopic excess heat capacity. The electronic part of the transformation entropy corresponds to about 10% of the total carrier concentration. No excess entropy was found at temperatures well above Tc. The effect of phonon contributions to the stabilization energy of the superconducting phase is discussed.  相似文献

ObjectiveTo evaluate the effect of low intensity recorded maternal voice on the physiologic reactions of healthy premature infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).MethodsPhysiologic responses of 20 healthy preterm infants in the NICU of Shariati Hospital, Tehran, were obtained during a 15 min intervention including three 5 min periods (no-sound control, audio recorded playback of mother’s voice, no-sound post-voice). The intervention was presented three times a day for three consecutive days. During each intervention, oxygen saturation (%, OSPR), heart rate (HR), and respiratory rate (RR) were recorded at 1 min intervals over the 15 min and then averaged over each 5 min period, resulting in 3 averages for each variable for each intervention.ResultsRepeated Measures Analysis of Variance were employed to examine each variable separately. Over the three days, comparison of oxygen saturation over each of the three periods (before, during voice, after) revealed an increase in oxygen saturation during the voice period, compared to the pre-voice period, which persisted over the post-voice period; there were no differences between the voice and post-voice periods. Analyses of the HR and RR data showed a decrease in both variables during the voice period compared to the pre-voice period which persisted over the post-voice period. Again, there were no differences between the voice and post-voice periods.ConclusionExposure to low intensity recorded maternal voice has positive effects on the preterm infants ‘physiologic responses.  相似文献

We present here a rotation matrix in five-dimensional space which connects the decagonal phase to a tetragonal crystalline related phase through a one-dimensional quasicrystals range by means of a phason-phonon coupling. Phason and phonon fields are determined in a general way and, from this result, a simple linear approximation is given. Continuous evolution density-wave patterns are shown.  相似文献

In their useful logic for a computer network Shramko and Wansing generalize initial values of Belnap’s 4-valued logic to the set 16 to be the power-set of Belnap’s 4. This generalization results in a very specific algebraic structure — the trilattice SIXTEEN 3 with three orderings: information, truth and falsity. In this paper, a slightly different way of generalization is presented. As a base for further generalization a set 3 is chosen, where initial values are a — incoming data is asserted, d — incoming data is denied, and u — incoming data is neither asserted nor denied, that corresponds to the answer “don’t know”. In so doing, the power-set of 3, that is the set 8 is considered. It turns out that there are not three but four orderings naturally defined on the set 8 that form the tetralattice EIGHT 4. Besides three ordering relations mentioned above it is an extra uncertainty ordering. Quite predictably, the logics generated by a–order (truth order) and d–order (falsity order) coincide with first-degree entailment. Finally logic with two kinds of operations (a–connectives and d–connectives) and consequence relation defined via a–ordering is considered. An adequate axiomatization for this logic is proposed.  相似文献

A system consisting of two Rulkov map-based neurons coupled through reciprocal electrical synapses as a simple phenomenological example is discussed. When the electrical coupling is excitatory, the square-wave bursting can be well predicted by the bifurcation analysis of a comparatively simple low-dimensional subsystem embedded in the invariant manifold. While, when the synapses are inhibitory due to the artificial electrical coupling, a fast–slow analysis is carried out by treating the two slow variables as two different bifurcation parameters. The main result of this paper is to present a mechanism for the occurrence of a kind of special elliptic bursting. The mechanism for this kind of elliptic-like bursting is due to the interaction between two chaotic oscillations with different amplitudes. Moreover, the generation of antiphase synchronization of networks lies in the different switching orders between two pairs of different chaotic oscillations corresponding to the first neuron and the second neuron, respectively.  相似文献

Abstract

This paper presents and explores some ideas about the ways that children referred to a London borough learning support service, their teachers and school managers can be helped by a specialist teacher making use of her training as a psychodynamic counsellor and child psychotherapist. This paper is based on the premise that conditions necessary for feeling secure and establishing the capacity to think and learn by experience are based upon the infant's experience of a facilitating maternal environment coupled with the infant's ability to engage in this relationship. By extension, children need to feel safe enough in order to take advantage of the learning and social opportunities offered in the context of the school environment. The author draws upon psychoanalytic theories and developmental psychology as useful frameworks for understanding the continuing impact of infantile experience upon the learning process. The author also draws attention to the context of her work as an area support teacher, concluding that prevailing political demands for rapid change hinder the capacity of educational support services, schools and individual staff from mediating effectively the emotional demands of children trying to engage in the difficult task of learning.

Abstract

The process of change can be understood from a variety of perspectives. Using the case of a self-mutilating woman whose educational, social, and psychological impairments resulted from years of childhood abuse and neglect, this article demonstrates an object relational perspective whereby internalized “bad” self and object representations are modified and replaced by more benign internalizations. Additionally, a wide variety of techniques are suggested and illustrated, including those that represent our strong social work training coupled with interventions that are more usually associated with psychodynamic psychotherapy.  相似文献

The dislocation substructure and the glide activity in cyclically deformed nickel single crystals have been studied using the channelling contrast of backscattered electrons in a scanning electron microscope. Dislocation arrangements which arise in the saturation region after cyclic loading at room temperature and at one elevated temperature are considered. The electron channelling contrast technique is shown to be a useful instrument for the qualitative and quantitative characterization of the dislocation pattern on a macroscopic and a mesoscopic scale. The correlation between the specific dislocation structure in persistent slip bands PSBs and the localized glide activity of PSBs and PSB macrobands are considered.  相似文献

Abstract

A three-dimensional model for the octagonal phase based on a cut-projection from the eight-dimensional hypercubic lattice is presented here. The phason-phonon coupling which leads the octagonal phase into 45° twinned cubic ones is also studied. Conclusions of this realistic model do not modify the previously stated conclusions from the standard but incomplete two-dimensional treatment.  相似文献
