One method for identifying contingency relationships in a sequence of observed behaviors studies occurrences of matching behaviors at successive event or time steps from a criterion event. Correspondence analysis can be described as a technique which decomposes the departure from independence in a two-way contingency table. In this paper a form of correspondence analysis is proposed which decomposes the departure from the quasi-independence model. This form seems to be a good alternative to ordinary correspondence analysis in cases where the use of the latter is either impossible or not recommended, for example, in case of missing data or structural zeros. It is shown that Nora's reconstitution of order zero, a procedure well-known in the French literature, is formally identical to our correspondence analysis of incomplete tables. Therefore, reconstitution of order zero can also be interpreted as providing a decomposition of the residuals from the quasi-independence model. Furthermore, correspondence analysis of incomplete tables can be performed using existing programs for ordinary correspondence analysis.  相似文献

The log-linear model for contingency tables expresses the logarithm of a cell frequency as an additive function of main effects, interactions, etc., in a way formally identical with an analysis of variance model. Exact statistical tests are developed to test hypotheses that specific effects or sets of effects are zero, yielding procedures for exploring relationships among qualitative variables which are suitable for small samples. The tests are analogous to Fisher's exact test for a 2 × 2 contingency table. Given a hypothesis, the exact probability of the obtained table is determined, conditional on fixed marginals or other functions of the cell frequencies. The sum of the probabilities of the obtained table and of all less probable ones is the exact probability to be considered in testing the null hypothesis. Procedures for obtaining exact probabilities are explained in detail, with examples given.  相似文献

NORMUL is a FORTRAN program that provides a test of whether data conform to a multivariate normal distribution. The method involves correlating Mahalanobis distances for observed data with expected chi-square percentile values.
