当今是一个以利益为轴心的时代,利益伦理是医学伦理学不可忽视的课题。欲望是无穷的,利益是有限的,任何利益都有其边界和限度,我们必须设置利益的道德界限。医患双方未能遵守利益限度和利益边界原则,使矛盾转化为冲突。利益冲突不仅影响医生的专业判断,而且影响了其医疗决定。医生既是医疗职业者,也是社会的一员,社会公众利益最大化是医疗服务的基本目标,为病人最大利益着想是医护专业最根本的道德规范与责任。

An investigation of the nomological network of social interest

This paper presents the results of three studies relating a composite measure of social interest to numerous variables within the nomological network of social interest. Study 1 found that social interest is positively related to sex-role femininity, androgyny, positive ambition, other-centered life goals, and, surprisingly, sex-role masculinity. Study 1 also found social interest negatively related to a narcissistic life goal, personality rigidity, and negative interpersonal behavior (Drivenness). Study 2 correlated social interest with the Personality Research Form and found, as expected, that social interest is correlated with the Affiliation and Nurturance scales. Unfortunately, social interest was not negatively related to Aggression. Finally, Study 3 provided generally positive support for the hypothesized relationships between social interest and several variables from the Life Styles Inventory (e.g., Humanism, Affiliation, etc.). Implications of the results for the construct validity of Adlerian social interest theory and current measurement of social interest are presented.

A cross-cultural study of rape

Rape is often considered a crime and, as such. is subject to punishment. This paper reports a test of a “deterence theory” of rape with a cross-cultural study which uses a sample of societies drawn from the Human Relations Area Files. Fraternal interest group theory is also tested. This theory argues that the presence of fraternal interest groups, power groups of related males, predicts the occurrence of rape in a society. Although the results support both theories, a composite theory, using both deterrence and fraternal interest group theories, was found to provide a better explanation for the occurrence of rape than either theory alone.

Development of a U.S. Employment Service Interest Inventory

Research was conducted to develop an interest inventory corresponding to the interest areas in Volume II of the fourth edition of the Dictionary of Occupational Titles. An inventory of 307 occupational activity items was developed and administered to a sample of 1,115 individuals in a selected number of states. The results were analyzed first to determine if it were possible to develop scales measuring the current 10 interest factors in Volume II of the third edition of the Dictionary of Occupational Titles (1965). This approach proved to be unsuccessful. A factor analysis was conducted to identify the most important interest factors underlying the 307 items and to develop base scales corresponding to the interest factors. This approach led to identification of readily interpretable interest factors similar in meaning and occupational coverage for men and women and broad enough to include the range of occupations in the economy. These interest factors will form the basis for the new interest inventory.     

Similarity between parents' and adolescents' levels of individuation.

Intergenerational theories of family functioning and therapy have sparked interest in empirical investigations that test intergenerational relationships. Of particular interest is whether one generation's level of functioning is similar to that of the next generation. This paper presents a test of difference scores that enables researchers to compare related and unrelated dyads, thus creating a comparison group when using only two generations. This procedure is contrasted with correlational findings in testing the hypothesis that adolescents will have a level of individuation similar to that of their parents.     

Interest as a Motivational Resource: Feedback and Gender Matter, but Interest Makes the Difference

This study tested the hypothesis that interest in a certain topic enables children to sustain their intrinsic motivation in topic-related tasks when positive feedback is absent. Ninety-one Israeli children in the seventh grade completed a questionnaire assessing their interest in the topic of logic questions. Later, in individual sessions, children worked on logic questions, and either received positive feedback or no feedback on their performance. Then, they completed a questionnaire assessing their intrinsic motivation to participate in a similar task. As expected, children with a high level of interest reported more intrinsic motivation than did children not high on interest. Among children with moderate interest, absence of positive feedback was associated with decreased intrinsic motivation for boys, and increased motivation for girls. This gender-related pattern was interpreted as suggesting that girls with moderate interest perceived the positive feedback as an attempt to control them. The findings support the view that interest may serve as a personal resource that helps children to cope with non-optimal learning conditions.     

Perceptions of Control Facilitate Reading Engagement

This study examined how global locus of control influences children's reading engagement or reading involvement and interest in stories. It is based on locus of control, interest, and dual information processing theories. One hundred and seventy students from schools in the northeastern United States, ages 9 to 12, participated. They completed a preread survey measuring autonomy and general reading interest and then read one of three randomly selected stories, followed by answering postexposure reading engagement questions. Confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling revealed that general perceptions of internal locus of control influenced reading involvement, which in turn predicted liking the story and interest in reading more such stories.     

The misperception of sexual interest

In the current study (N = 199), we utilized a speed-meeting methodology to investigate misperceptions of sexual interest. This method allowed us to evaluate the magnitude of men's overperception of women's sexual interest, to examine whether and how women misperceive men's sexual interest, and to assess individual differences in susceptibility to sexual misperception. We found strong support for the prediction that women would underestimate men's sexual interest. Men who were more oriented toward short-term mating strategies or who rated themselves more attractive were more likely to overperceive women's sexual interest. The magnitude of men's overperception of women's sexual interest was predicted by the women's physical attractiveness. We discuss implications of gender differences and within-sex individual differences in susceptibility to sexual misperception.     

The Image of God in Pastoral Counseling

This paper is a study of the God image as the concept has developed in the study of psychology and the psychology of religion. Pastoral counselors obviously have had a long-standing interest in these phenomena. A renewed interest in the subject is indicated by the fact that two books have been published recently on the subject.

The moderating effect of private self-consciousness on the stability of vocational interests

This study investigated the potential moderating effect of private self-consciousness on the stability of vocational interest inventory scores and profiles. We hypothesized that participants higher in private self-consciousness would have more stable interest scores and profiles on the Self-Directed Search (SDS; Holland, Fritzsche, & Powell, 1994) across a 12-week time interval than would participants lower in private self-consciousness. Results revealed that private self-consciousness did moderate the stability of SDS Enterprising interest scores. Contrary to our hypothesis, private self-consciousness did not moderate the stability of the other five SDS interest scores or SDS interest profile stability.     

The Fall of the Almohad Empire in the Eyes of Modern Spanish Historians

One reason for the lack of interest in the Almohad period is the great emphasis on local history that swept Spain after the advent of democracy. This tendency has produced a great deal of interest not only in local figures, but also in local communities, and especially in Mudejars and Jews. This article investigates this issue from within a broader context, namely, the status of Islamic studies in contemporary Spain and raises the question as to whether Spain has really overcome its polemic and romantic interpretation of its Andalusi past.     

Animal Rights and Animal Experiments: An Interest-Based Approach

This paper examines whether non-human animals have a moral right not to be experimented upon. It adopts a Razian conception of rights, whereby an individual possesses a right if an interest of that individual is sufficient to impose a duty on another. To ascertain whether animals have a right not to be experimented on, three interests are examined which might found such a right: the interest in not suffering, the interest in staying alive, and the interest in being free. It is argued that while the first two of these interests are sufficient to ground animal rights against being killed and made to suffer by experiments, the interest in freedom does not ground a general animal right not to be used in experimentation. Cinematic depiction of conflicts of interest in romantic relationships

Conflicts of interest resulting from a romantic relationship, just like conflicts of interest of a financial nature, have the potential to negatively affect professional decisions. For this reason, many companies, universities, and government agencies have policies designed to prevent conflicts of interest at the expense of personal liberties. In addition, the feminist literature in the last two decades has added the specter of sexual harassment to the evaluation of conflicts, of interest. A few academic authors have voiced opposition to this state of affairs. In an effort to enrich the debate with viewpoints from outside of academia, I analyze six popularly acclaimed motion pictures that address the issue of conflicts of interest in romantic relationships. All six films convey the idea that people are aware of potential complications but regularly avoid these complications. This suggests that restrictive policies on conflicts of interest may not be justified.     

This is (Not) a Philosopher: On Educational Philosophy in an Age of Psychologisation

Nowadays there is a renewed interest in philosophy as art-of-living. Several prominent authors have pointed out the return of the notion of the good life in philosophy, particularly understood as a form of normative ethics. Questions such as: how should I live have been taken up as a resistance against the dominances of a neo-liberal discourse in all areas of life. This paper is concerned with this renewed interest in philosophy as art-of-living and the form of education that supports this. The main idea is that the commitment from which we live is a subject of change. This way, art-of-living comprises the possibility and the effort to lead on’s life in a reflective way, and not to let it simply go by. Historically this has been connected to the process of becoming educated. In this paper I will take a closer look at this renewed interest in philosophy as the art-of-living by contrasting two different readings of philosophy as the art-of-living. One that is inspired by Oscar Brenifier and one that is inspired by the late Foucault.
