Four scaling techniques for measuring human values were compared, using the measurement properties of test-retest reliability, discriminatory power, convergent validity, and achievement of substantive results consistent with theoretical expectations. The standard rank-order version of the Rokeach Value Survey was superior to a 100-point rating, magnitude estimation, and the handgrip scaling procedure with respect to each of these fundamental measurement requirements. Because it exhibited less measurement error than the other methods, rank-order scaling is shown to be the best technique for measuring human values even though it achieves only an ordinal level of measurement. 相似文献

在面孔识别研究领域中,大量研究探讨人类对这一类刺激的加工是否具有与其他刺激不同的认知神经机制,即面孔的加工具有领域特异性还是过程特异性?由于各类研究使用的方法各不相同,导致对这一问题的回答尚缺乏一致性。本研究假设,如果面孔刺激具有特异性,无论在何种任务被试采用何种加工方式下,人类面孔N170反应在统计值上均显著高于其他类别的N170反应;相反,面孔与其他刺激在N170上则没有统计上的差异。研究将人类面孔、动物面孔、水果/蔬菜、房屋4类刺激呈现在不同任务设置下,测量人类面孔在不同任务中与各类刺激间的早期反应差异。当前研究结果发现,人类面孔在不同任务中始终保持着比其他刺激更为显著的ERPs(Event-Related Potentials,ERPs)反应优势,表现在额中部的早期正成分VPP和右侧颞枕部负成分N170对人类面孔反应幅度显著高于其他三类刺激的。人类面孔与其他刺激的ERP间差异反应模式在不同任务下相对稳定,并末发现动物面孔有类似效应。研究结果支持人类面孔加工的领域特异性说法。 相似文献

Stress and related concepts have long been associated with ideas about the genesis of mental and physical disorders. The concepts linking stress to disorder, however, have typically been very general in nature. The theme of the present paper is that such nonspecific principles may obscure more specific relations between relatively distinct forms of life stress and particular types of disorder outcome. The historical progression of ideas on this topic is traced and the assumptions behind specificity and nonspecificity models of disorder are outlined. The implications of these developments are next illustrated in regard to current conceptual and operational shortcomings. Recent research that has overcome these limitations and suggests the viability and importance of more specific linkages between particular forms of stress and disorders is selectively reviewed. Finally, the paper concludes with some speculative comments on the problems facing investigators interested in translating stress concepts into operational procedures. 相似文献

The present study analyzed the nature of epistemological beliefs about learning (learning beliefs) in Korea and the United States. Learning beliefs are implicit assumptions held by learners about the source and certainty of knowledge and the ways to obtain knowledge. For the comparative analysis of both the model and the nature of learning beliefs across two countries that differ in emphasis on individualism and collectivism, two attempts were made. First, Jehng, Johnson, and Anderson's (1993) study was replicated with university students from the US (N=496) and Korea (N=487). Second, the relationship between US students' learning beliefs and the two aspects of their self-construal (independent and interdependent) was analyzed by using a scale developed by Singelis (1994) which measures cultural orientation of individualism and collectivism at the individual level. Factor analyses of the US sample confirmed the conceptual model proposed by Jehng et al. The factor structure of the Korean sample, however, showed significant variation reflecting the collectivistic values of Korea. MANCOVA indicated that the two developmental factors, age and the amount of formal education, were related with American students' beliefs, but they were not with those of Korean students. MANCOVA revealed that US students' beliefs are significantly related with the independent self-construal, but not with the interdependent self-construal. The differences between the two samples in terms of the impact of formal education and self-construal on learning beliefs will be further discussed by focusing on the cultural differences between the two countries. 相似文献

There is a widespread assumption in cognitive science that there is anintrinsic link between the phenomena of innateness and domainspecificity. Many authors seem to hold that given the properties ofthese two phenomena, it follows that innate mental states aredomain-specific, or that domain-specific states are innate. My aim inthis paper is to argue that there are no convincing grounds forasserting either claim. After introducing the notions of innateness anddomain specificity, I consider some possible arguments for theconclusion that innate cognitive states are domain-specific, or viceversa. Having shown that these arguments do not succeed, I attempt toexplicate what I take to be the connection between innateness and domainspecificity. I argue that it is simply easier to determine whether andto what extent domain-specific cognitive capacities are innate. That is,the relation between innateness and domain specificity is evidential orepistemic, rather than intrinsic. 相似文献

Across three studies, we examined the relationship between narcissism, prosocial behaviors, and the reasons why people engaged in them. Specifically, we examined how narcissistic people engaged in charitable donations, taking advantage of a naturally occurring mass charitable donation campaign, the ALS “ice bucket challenge” (Study 1). We also examined how narcissism was related to volunteering and other types of prosocial behaviors (Studies 2 and 3). Moreover, we compared and contrasted the prosocial responses of more empathic versus more narcissistic people (Studies 2 and 3). This paper can help scholars and practitioners to determine under which circumstances, and for which reasons, narcissistic people may exhibit prosocial behaviors. 相似文献

One of the significant limitations of the motor control and skill acquisition domain is that the theories, models, and hypotheses are, in most cases, task specific. Many lines of theorizing fail to hold up under even small changes in task constraints, although clearly the field does have some robust phenomena. It is proposed that a broader consideration of the role of task constraints, which is grounded in the methodology of nonlinear dynamics, may help to formulate a more general action theory of coordination and control. 相似文献

This study examined the impact of goal orientation and feedback specificity on performance. Ninety undergraduate management students completed 3 phases of a computerized management decision-making simulation in conditions of low, moderate, or high feedback specificity. Learning orientation interacted with feedback specificity to predict performance in Phase 1, such that feedback specificity had a greater impact on performance for persons low in learning orientation. We tested a conceptual model involving the inter-relations among affective decision-making (indexed by a gambling task), autonomic nervous system (ANS) activity, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) symptoms in a largely impoverished, inner city sample of first through third grade children (N=63, 54% male). The present study hypothesized that impaired affective decision-making and decreased sympathetic and parasympathetic activation would be associated with higher levels of ADHD and ODD symptoms, and that low sympathetic and parasympathetic activation during an emotion-inducing task would mediate the relation between affective decision-making and child externalizing symptoms. In support of our model, disadvantageous decision-making on a gambling task was associated with ADHD hyperactivity/impulsivity symptoms among boys, and attenuated sympathetic activation during an emotion-inducing task mediated this relation. 本研究旨在探讨行为和情绪的框架效应及与个性的关系。采用"艾森克人格量表"对116名高校学生进行测查,区分个体的人格特点,并让被试阅读一个具有风险的手术问题的文字材料,其中一半被试阅读的材料以积极形式构建,另一半以消极形式构建,探察被试在不同情景之下的阅读行为和情绪表现。结果发现个体的神经质特性对不同再构造条件下的阅读时间和各种假设情景之下的情绪变化都具有显著的影响,被试在积极构造的情景中情绪反应更强烈。本研究证明了行为与情绪的框架效应,并且揭示了再构造过程对行为和情绪影响的个体差异。 相似文献

Increasingly, a large number of individuals provide volunteer services. Demographic information known about these individuals is also increasing. Although recent efforts have attempted to examine more closely the relationships between demographic and background variables and subsequent volunteer motivation and retention, few have studied how these variables impact actual work performed by volunteers. This study provides a model for how volunteers' demographic and background variables may be related to volunteers' perceptions of the frequency and importance of their work behaviors. Although it is possible that motivation also may be related to work behaviors, this study provides information ultimately leading to a more complete picture of the potential impact of demographic and background variables on work behaviors. 相似文献

Burnout has an important impact upon the professional satisfaction of clergy. Identifying protective behaviors that may prevent
against burnout is important for the long-term emotional health of individual clergy as well as the wider church. This research
reports findings among 358 parish-based clergy that identifies the prevalence of burnout and correlates this data with demographic
risk factors and protective behaviors. Clergy who met criteria for burnout were younger, identified themselves as being depressed
and unsatisfied with their spiritual life, and have endured a traumatic church placement. This research also suggests that
having a variety of interests and activities outside of one’s vocation may protect against burnout. In particular, behaviors
that enhance relationships—such as seeking mentors and attending retreats—as well as pursuing outside activities—such as regular
exercise and scholarly reading—protect against burnout. Further implications for the wider church are discussed. 相似文献

This article examines adolescent girls' weightloss behaviors and possible parent influences related toweight and shape. Questionnaires were completed by 369grade 10 girls and their parents. Findings suggested that parent encouragement to loseweight was a more significant predictor of daughterdietary restraint than parents' own dietary restraintlevels. Mother influence variables added significantly to a regression equation after fatherinfluences had been entered, but the reverse was not thecase. Parents' food abstaining behaviors, such asfasting and skipping meals, predicted food abstaining in daughters. Most findings were replicated whendaughter body size was controlled for. Implications formodels of the transmission of diet and weight-relatedvalues from parent to child are discussed. 相似文献

This study examined the relationship of three types of predictors of self-reported workaholism components and workaholic job behaviors: individual demographics, work situation characteristics, and two substantive workaholism antecedents (personal beliefs and fears, perceptions of organizational support of work-personal life imbalance). Data were collected from 530 women and men managers and professionals using anonymous questionnaires. The three blocks of predictors explained statistically significant but moderate levels of variance in workaholism components and workaholic job behaviors. The two substantive workaholism antecedents showed somewhat consistent relationships with the criterion measures. Participants more strongly endorsing the beliefs and fears and participants perceiving greater organizational support of work-personal life imbalance generally indicated higher levels of workaholism components and workaholic job behaviors. 相似文献

The Health Action Process Approach (HAPA) has made important contributions to understanding health behavior change through emphasising the distinction between motivational and volitional influences on behavior and focusing attention on maintenance as well as initiation of health behaviors. The present commentary draws out a number of issues in relation to the contribution of the HAPA to our understanding of health behaviors. Five issues are highlighted: What are the key motivational influences on behavior? What are the key volitional influences on behavior? How does recent research on intention–behavior moderators provide further insights into volitional influences on health behaviors? What are the problems of blurring a distinction between continuum and stage models as is done in the HAPA? What is the value of a distinction between initiation and maintenance of a health behavior? L’Approche des Processus d’Action en faveur de la Santé (HAPA) a apporté une contribution importante à la compréhension des modifications du comportement liéà la santé en soulignant la différence entre les influences motivationnelles et volitionnelles sur la conduite et en s’intéressant aussi bien à la continuité qu’à l’amorce des comportements de santé. Ce commentaire aborde quelques questions en rapport avec la contribution de l’HAPA à notre compréhension des comportements relatifs à la santé. Cinq questions sont posées: quelles sont les influences motivationnelles majeures sur la conduite? Quelles sont les influences volitionnelles majeures sur la conduite? En quoi des recherches récentes sur les modérateurs intention–comportement permettent‐elles de mieux appréhender les influences volitionnelles sur les comportements favorisant la santé; le problème de l’atténuation de la différenciation apparue dans l’HAPA entre les modèles en stades et en continuum; la valeur de la distinction entre adoption et maintien d’un comportement favorable à la santé. 相似文献
