Sjukdomsrelaterad information vid schizofreni: klinisk tillämpning och effekter

Abstract

Under senare år har det blivit allt vanligare att ge sjukdomsrelaterad information till anhöriga och personer som själva drabbats av schizofreni. Forskning kring effekten är dock liten. Denna studies syfte var att utveckla ett kliniskt användbart material för information till patienter samt att testa det i en kontrollerad studie. Tjugoåtta personer med schizofrenidiagnos enligt DSM-III-R, fördelades slumpmässigt till att delta i ett individuell information eller till väntelista. Informationsprogrammet var indelat i fem steg som anpassats för de tankestörningar som är vanliga vid schizofreni. För-och eftermätning omfattade fyra mått: Global Assessment of Functioning Scale, kunskapsfrågor kring generell kunskap om schizofreni, intervju kring den personliga relevansen av generell kunskap samt skattningar av ett antal symtom och vårdvariabler. Experimentgruppen ökade signifikant sin generella och personliga kunskap medan kontrollgruppen inte visade någon förändring. Ökad kunskap var inte relaterad till några symtom eller bakgrundsvarabler. Även insikt, hopp inför framtiden, förmåga att upptäcka stressorer och tidiga varningssignaler ökade signifikant i experimentgruppen men inte i kontrollgruppen. Alla kontaktpersoner kunde följa informationsmallen och patientgruppen drabbades inte av något bortfall.
