DISSOCIATION OF SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL COUPLING IN THE BIMANUAL MOVEMENTS OF CALLOSOTOMY PATIENTS

Abstract— The neural mechanisms of limb coordination were investigated by Jesting callosotomy patients and normal control subjects on bimanual movements. Normal subjects produced deviations in the trajectories when spatial demands for the two spatial deviations, although their hands moved with normal temporal synchrony. Normal subjects but not callosotomy patients exhibited large increases in planning and execution time for movements with different spatial demands for the two hands relative to movements with identical spatial demands for the two hands. This neural dissociation indicate that spatial interference in movements results from callosal connections whereas temporal synchrony in movement onset does not rely on the corpus callosum.     

THE INTENSIFYING INTERSECTION OF ETHICS,RELIGION, THEOLOGY,AND PEACE STUDIES

The intersection of ethics, religion, theology, and peace studies is intensifying through increasingly multi‐disciplinary, contextual, explicitly normative scholarship. This book discussion demonstrates this claim through its profiles of an introduction to Christian ethics by Ellen Ott Marshall, a case study of the School of the Americas Watch by Kyle B. T. Lambelet, a case study of the American Jewish Palestine solidarity movement by Atalia Omer, and a global, historical study of Christian ethics by Cecilia Lynch. Though their methods and subjects vary, these authors are collectively renewing a history of mutual enrichment between religious ethics and peace studies, employing theories of lived, ambivalent religion. To begin, this essay provides introductory remarks about the field of peace studies, highlighting the evolving involvement of religious actors. To conclude, it makes a plea for greater use of conflict theory and peace practice in religious ethics.     

SOLIDARITY: RIVAL VERSIONS,CONFLICTING INTERPRETATIONS,AND THE SHAPE OF HOPE

What do we mean when we utter the word ‘solidarity’? How do we apprehend its meaning when we hear it spoken of by others? The ancient Greeks ‐ Homer, Thucydides, and Aristotle ‐ offer a vantage point from which this inquiry may begin. The Book of Genesis sets before us a cycle of stories about brothers, along with questions about the bonds that keep them together. The sagas of Iceland explore the nature of conflicts between one family and another. Thomas Aquinas gives a distinctive account of solidarity between Christians. Emile Durkheim, too, provides an influential analysis of solidarity. Alexis de Tocqueville, Max Scheler, and Richard Rorty make significant contributions to the discussion. John Paul II elaborated an impressive vision of solidarity. This essay undertakes a form of reconnaissance, then, by exploring the border region between these rival versions of solidarity.

通过对770名中学生施测,检验Snyder的希望特质量表（TTHS）的信度和效度。结果表明,总量表的重测信度、量表的结构效度和效标效度符合心理测量学要求。ITHS可以作为测量中国中学生希望特质的工具。在中国文化背景下。Snyder提出的希望特质仍然是一种积极的心理品质,希望特质也从某方面代表着中国中学生的心理健康水平。
