Experiences with directed dynamic group psychotherapy in psychotherapeutic ambulatory care

The psychotherapeutic situation of public assistance at a district without stationary institution for psychotherapy calls for the ambulant effort of methods personally centered group psychotherapy. The Intended Dynamic Group Psychotherapie was developed on stationary conditions of a therapeutic sommunity. In a practical report about eight therapy groups are discussed possibilities and limits of this method on ambulant conditions.     

Thoughts about the development of a potential space in the psychotherapeutic treatment of infantile psychosis

This paper describes the usefulness for the child psychotherapist of some Winnicottian concepts in psychoanalytic treatment of very young psychotic children. Particular attention is given to the concept of ‘potential space’ as Winnicott has formulated it in his writings. Three clinical cases are presented, one of these includes a complete mother-child session in order to show how the therapist can work to create a space where psychic events can become possible.     

Experiences in the diagnosis and treatment of polyneuropathies in patients with malignant monoclonal gammopathy

4 patients are reported having monoclonal gammopathies, who clinically exhibited a sensomotoric polyneuropathy being progressive during some years. The EMG showed axional failure and secondary demyelisation. In two of the patients an IgG-type multiple myeloma has been revealed, while in the other two ohnes an increase of abnormal IgM-mIg could be demonstrated. In all patients the liquor protein was found increased and the appropriate mIg has been found in the liquor. Immunohistochemically the appropriate immunoglobulins could be demonstrated on the peripheral nerve by means of immunofluorescence method. Electron microscopical studies of nerval biopsies supported the diagnosis of mIg-associated polyneuropathy. References to diagnostics and treatment of mIg-associated polyneuropathy are done.     

The role of faith in the psychotherapeutic context

The focus of this article is the role of faith in psychotherapy. It is suggested that the psychotherapeutic endeavor may be fruitfully informed by insights from other disciplines. The theologian Paul Tillich's view of faith is discussed as it applies to the psychotherapeutic endeavor. The relation between faith and anxiety is explored in the context of the problem of resistance and change in psychotherapy. The work of theorists from various perspectives (existential, analytic) is discussed in the light of Tillich's view of faith.
